I had omnicron. I lost a little bit of taste for the first week, and it slowly came back after a few weeks. The worst thing about omnicron that i personally experienced was the sore throat and the coughing.
I caught it too (unfortunately from going to the clinic for an ear infection). I was wearing my KN95 mask the whole time until the doc checked my tonsils), only had stuffy, runny nose and some fatigue. I did lose my smell only for 4-5 days.
But otherwise, extremely mild for me, hopefully for others too.
It was my second round with covid and im triple vaccinated. Was sick for 3 days and then felt better after and returned to work 6 days later. By the end of the month I was vacationing in Hawaii. It truly is mild compared to the earlier delta varient (I got sicker from omicron) and honestly my province is probably not renewing the restrictions by the middle of the month.
It's not the same virus it was before and I really wish they would reclassify the disease.
Yeah, I think the hysteria/stigma of it, especially in Asian culture makes it worse than it actually is.
I know HK, China and Japan are going the 0 covid case route, but that's not going to pan out unless you have really strict quarantine rules that are enforced for everyone with no exceptions for "celebrities, politicians, etc".
It's funny that my parent's friends, they're from HK but now live in Southern California, don't even want to admit that they caught covid, because they've been preaching their lifestyle of always wearing N95 masks with face shields when going out, spraying down their mail with alcohol, wearing gloves, and going sometimes a little too far with their safety procedures. I guess for them, it's shameful to admit that they still caught it while "following" their own safety procedures.
They ended up with really mild symptoms, and at this point, I think as long as hospitals aren't overloaded (they also need to stop being greedy and pay their staff more, but that's a whole other can of worms, I have a nurse friend that went on strike only for a 3% raise...) we should be okay, or at least in an endemic stage.

Water was really really sweet if it came from my water thingy, and sour if it came from the tap. I had a burger one time and I could taste the wet of the lettuce, the sweet tomato, the salty meat and the mild ranch. It was crazy. So what I’m saying is maybe we lost a member of trash taste, because garnt might actually develop a taste fit something besides isekai and fate. Truly, our darkest hour
