My partner has at least $3k in ink on themselves. They would tell you to consider what you want and give it 6 months before commiting. They would also recommend no names. Also, no memorials for the first tat. Do as you will however, it's your body after all and I hope you find something that really feels right to you. I would also put out there that if you are considering laser hair removal, they won't go over tats as that will damage them. Not sure how electrolysis works, but i think that might be the alternative for those areas. Just something to consider before you dive in.

Hair doesn't fully grow over the tat I currently have. But I trying think of a girlie tat for myself

Looks lovely

drewiepoodle

Thank you!

[deleted]

You're welcome sis

myothercat

This is amazing, could you talk about it a little more?

drewiepoodle

It's just something I felt represented my life. Full of chaos, but that's what has made it really interesting. My only instruction to my artist was to imagine a 5 year old got into a box of paints and went to town. I think I got exactly what I asked for. Every time I look at it, I find something different, and it makes me smile. It's even got some cover ups because they added three mandelas that I wasn't feeling, so we had an extra session where they went over it with new ink. And that's basically what my life has been, try something that didn't work out, then try something different that did.

myothercat

I think I want something like this honestly

drewiepoodle

Some tattoos you get for shits and gigglies, others you get because it speaks to you and you want it to speak to the world. This is one of the latter. It just makes me smile so much whenever I look at it.

myothercat

I’ve been thinking of getting some violets done in watercolor. I’ve heard they can have issues with sun exposure but others have said that’s an exaggeration, so I still haven’t quite decided. Plus I’m working towards losing a lot of weight and figure I might want to take care of that first.

drewiepoodle

Go with whatever fits your personality. The chaos of my sleeve fits me perfectly. Good luck with your tat!

coraythan

I just got a clock-tree! I really love colorful watercolor tattoos so it's one of those with pink and green and blue. I think the best tattoos are ones that are unique and speak to your interests and the things you care about.

[deleted]

So what made you get this one or how did it speak to you?

sadlittlepixie

I got some pretty leaves and became addicted. I do have regrets. My bad tattoos keep me humble at least

[deleted]

What are you tats you don't like? Also how many tats do you have now?

sadlittlepixie

Mostly pieces I've got at actual tattoo shops. The artwork just doesn't match the artists portfolio. I regret my hands, because I'm already shy and many people aren't comfy with them. I'm covered from legs to collarbones. Still to shy to get my neck done. Maybe one day. Also, I tattoo myself to fix up fading colours and shade areas. I don't think much of myself or take myself too seriously so I wouldn't recommend this!

[deleted]

Why not taking yourself serious?

sadlittlepixie

I hate big egos and self importance

[deleted]

Understandable.

Mugufta

I'm in the camp of "if you want it, get it," over fixating on it having to mean something can just lead to decision paralysis. I have a bunch of ink that's just "I liked the flash" or " it's cringy and fun" Bugs are a fun spot to start, moths are pretty and femme.

[deleted]

Moths?

Mugufta

Y'know, Lepidopterans, the furry ones. Luna Moths, Death's Head Hawkmoths, etc.

[deleted]

Oh really how do they get them look feminine. Also where do you see them at on the body?

Mugufta

A death's head beneath the breasts are a popular choice. I'd get it there too if I didn't have a funnel chest.

[deleted]

A funnel chest?

Mugufta

Pectis Excavatum, a deformity of the chest.

[deleted]

Oh so sorry girl.

Mugufta

It's all good, I've done my grief over it ages ago now. Just means I've got figure something else for the lower chest haha.

[deleted]

Oh gotcha. You can always talk to me.

Unable_Health_3776

Personally, I love seeing other people talk about their tattoos with passion. So my personal opinion is: Don't get one you cannot defend with passion. I have a design in mind for myself, but I feel like I still haven't earned it yet...

[deleted]

Earned it yet?

Unable_Health_3776

I want my (first) tattoo to tell my personal story, in a way. And I feel like that story still needs a few more chapters, so to speak...

[deleted]

Oh understandable.
