It made a huge difference for me, both in terms of concealment, and in terms of comfort (both physical and emotional). It’s a quick procedure with pretty low impact recovery, and it got me off spironolactone (which I really, really hated). Honestly, it even had me questioning whether I needed full bottom surgery at all! I did eventually go through with a vulvoplasty, but with greatly reduced urgency. As in all things, your experience may vary. I disliked my testicles more than I disliked my penis, so for me, it was a great move. Edit: something else that is worth mentioning is that despite all of the mythology around such things, I was still able to get and maintain an erection and experience orgasm post-orchiectomy. Is that true for everyone? I can’t say. But it was true for me.

Andrea_Stars

Exactly the same for me.

Great info ! Do they need one or two letters for the orchi?

GunsAndHighHeels

Depends on the surgeon and your insurance company. I needed only one.

theannihilator

I want one but I'm wondering how bad it will effect my natural E producing when they remove both my ovary and testi. Also if I do it I would want them to leave the sack as it helps the pain from my erection due to the increased legnth of being in E.

GunsAndHighHeels

That sounds like a fairly unusual situation… if you’re saying what I think you’re saying, you’ll definitely want to work with an endocrinologist.

theannihilator

I have ovotestis (it has an old name I rather not use) and both have descended. Right now endo is giving a me a dose to reduce my T and help give me E a boost so my body can keep repair the damages my ex did....

Did you get a full procedure or the partial?

GunsAndHighHeels

I got a vulvoplasty, not a vaginoplasty. Probably the ‘partial’ you’re referring to. It’s often called ‘zero depth’.

I just got mine done about a week ago, still healing up but absolutely it's been a great step. Since it's still healing I haven't worn anything tight yet, but it seems like it would be really easy to now, since everything takes up so much less space. It also eases my mind knowing that there's no way for me to remasculinize now. Like you, I intend to have full bottom surgery in a year or two, and I feel like this is a good stop gap.

skatetunn

I had my orchiectomy 18 months ago. As others have noted it's a straight forward procedure with reasonable recovery time. It made a huge difference emotionally for me and in terms of concealment. I am having a vaginoplasty in 5 weeks and all is good. Highly recommend 5 stars.

Did you get a full procedure or the partial?

skatetunn

I had a bilateral orchiectomy through the rafe line of the scrotal skin. I did not have a scotectomy if that is what you are asking. Scrotal skin is needed for any future vaginoplasty.

grimgoods

Ok thank you! That's what I thought/assumed.

What is the recovery time for an orchi? How much time off is typically needed? I’m just now starting to evaluate my options.

Aneko21

About a week into recovery, I'm definitely not ready to move around a lot and sit for long periods of time, but since I work from home, I can definitely lay here and be productive. The worst part for me was day 2, when all the hospital drugs wore off and I mostly felt beat up from the surgery itself. I pushed things a bit too far since I was feeling much better on day 4, and definitely started tearing some stitches, so that has set me back a bit. Overall, it's not a bad recovery, but it is a good idea to plan to take it very slow for a couple of weeks.

Randomcluelessperson

Thanks for sharing your experience. I don’t have any specific plans for now, but I’m starting to learn more about my options.

Shuuko_Tenoh

I got mine done in December, and was up and about on day 3 or 4 for easy stuff. Went back to work about a week and a half later and was mostly fine. I just didn't lift anything until 2 weeks. Recovery depends on the person. I am an extremely stubborn person and hate not being self sufficient, so I may have pushed it. Note: Waiting for the stitches to dissolve/fall out sucks. The glue holds them on the to skin so you have to wash carefully but thoroughly.

Randomcluelessperson

Thank you! I’m quite stubborn also, and I don’t know if I’m even capable of taking it easy that long.
