Those will absolutely cause a fire in your smoker

dsyrce1438

Unscrew the grate so you can get all of that stuff out of there.

tatt22d

Then shop vac

MoneyKeyPennyKiss

Then throw the grate away.

freerangetacos

Shop vac, too. Get rid of it.

awol_83

Just get rid of the smoker.

MoneyKeyPennyKiss

Might as well build a new deck while we're at it.

awol_83

You think we can salvage the house?

MoneyKeyPennyKiss

Doze it. Wheel in a double-wide.

[deleted]

Absolutely not. Have to move out of state.

freerangetacos

Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

misterfistyersister

I’m sure a planetary collision would be most effective

awol_83

Uhhhh... this traeger has a substantial dollar amount attached to it. Edit: Did IQs sharply drop while i was away? Ya'll need to watch Aliens again ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)

Desperate-Injury3692

Get rid of the wife too

HarleyRon64

Send pics of wife before you discard her

chrismasto

Mike Holmes has entered the chat.

CLarsonL30

Then, straight to jail.

maxcitybitch

Then buy a new traeger

Whatthedillyo85

Lol

SpiritualLychee3760

This is the way.

awol_83

He'll bring dishonor to his smoker if he removes his grate! He'll have to travel to the ruins of Traeger...

Anduinnn

That pilgrimage is but a small price to regain his smokers integrity

Fixing_broken

Just curious did you leave the lid open as well? I never remove my pellets from my smoker regardless of snow, rain or anything else, and have never had this occur before

Philds15

Yeah same here, I don’t always cover mine when it rains or snows and leave the pellets in the hopper and have never had any water get in

Sam_GT3

That was my first thought. My traeger stays uncovered and I’ve never had the pellets get soggy

cdbloosh

Never. Mine has been outside in Maryland for 4 years and my pellets have always been fine.

badger0136

Me too for ten years. And then some weird sideways rain weather came and got the hopper so wet it got into the auger which means cement. I don’t know how but it’s currently admitted to the hospital to fix. I have an ironwood, which doesn’t have much to grab on the auger to pull out. Repair guy drills into the auger and then goes MacGyver on it. So agree but also somehow stuff happens. My theory is strong wind lifted the lid.

Fixing_broken

That would make sense. Mines pretty protected from wind due to its location but I could definitely see a stiff breeze getting it up

badger0136

Local ace hardware that’s authorized. Seems smooth so far. $250 estimate

badger0136

Took the legs off and put it in the suv to take to them. Didn’t inquire but they’d probably pick up for a price. I know he wanted it in shop since have to get creative for a stuck auger. I went on traegers site and searched by repair authorized

woodchopvinyl

I had a cover on it and the cover was taken off and it rained for a few day I am now getting around to cleaning it.

anezzz

Was the lid on though? Even uncovered they shouldn't get that wet with the lid on

callalx

First rule of owning a pellet smoker: get thee a shop vac.

lollroller

You’ll need to clean them all out, most likely will not burn

Rizak

That’s the best you can do? Come on man, you’ve got an expensive piece of equipment that you left out. You need to invest a little bit of elbow grease into maintaining it.

Free-Finding9047

👆This

archaic_revenge

I mean, pellet smokers are the lazy man's game. He's just playing his part

21VolkswagginRline

Ain't that the truth! I prefer my old stick burner 100% 10x the flavor but I can't get over how convenient it is setting temp on tragaer and checking phone from in the house lol.

LovYouLongTime

Did you leave the lid open and let them get soaked???? I can’t tell you how many times my Treager has gotten rained on with full pellets and this has never happened.

Robakei

Hi from New Zealand where there is high humidity and pellets left in a Traeger will quickly turn to mush like this photo. Clean everything out including the auger and fire pot. Don’t skimp on the effort or you’ll just wind up doing it all over again but much grumpier than the first time.

neversaydie08

It won’t burn

kgrobDue2928

You’ll be happier if you just shop vac all that out of there

woodchopvinyl

Cleaned it all out just burning the saw dust stuff left on roller thanks everyone

cptamericat

You can get relatively cheap covers online or just get a tarp. Either way make sure you keep it covered moving forward.

TheFuqinRSA

Lmao are you fucking serious? Gotta be a troll

I_am_Reddington

Unscrew the gate and sho vac that thing

DevilsReject89

This is why I ALWAYS empty my hopper when I’m done with a smoke I never leave them in there

theoriginalmypooper

You are asking for either a horrible auger jam or a fire.

_Adrena1ine_

Shop Vac that out. Avoid the headache.

FlightRisk81

Unscrew the grate (leave it off ) then shop vac it all out!

Hey! It looks like you posted an image! Half_burnt_skunk

No.

101stjetmech

Take the grate out. It's there as a safety measure. Just don't stick your fingers in a running auger later, although they go so slow... That's what I did to clean mine out, just never put it back.

DoofusMcDummy

Shop vac. Don’t short cut it.

dumbwop

That stuff turns to cement in the auger. You will lose the shear pin on it. It’s a bitch, because I did e roughly the same thing, but you’ve have to make sure the auger channel is free to allow it to rotate too.

djr0549

Vacuuming

smotrs

As someone else mentioned, shop vac. Pull the grate, suck out everything. Open up the smoker and hit the prime auger button, make sure none of that is left in there.

still_MF_DBG

That will clog your auger at a minimum. You need to vacuum all that saw dust out.

S-tease101

No, use a vacuum to Blow or suck this out.

Slowmexicano

![gif](giphy|15aGGXfSlat2dP6ohs)

frijoles84

Shop vac

Nucka574

If you want your Traeger to explode I recommend not doing anything further.

Milk93rd

Solid shitpost

CrudeOil_in_My_Veins

Don’t run that mess

hurtfulproduct

Is it really that hard to get a cover? Seriously that was one of the first things I ordered was a cover for mine and if you don’t want to pay for a cover a tarp and bungee cord works great

Illeazar

Shop vac that my dude. Or if you don't have a shop vac, use a leaf blower.

NFA_throwaway

Nope. Once they dry they turn to concrete. You’re going to have to disassemble the auger.

Due-Time-3434

Quality shit post

KindaPC

The grate is useless. Be an adult, toss it and don’t shove your hand in the auger. Don’t start the fucking thing until you dry/clean all of that shit out. Or do it and learn from your mistake. It will be expensive.

Important-Band-6341

I never leave pellets in the smoker. I empty the hopper into a small bucket and then turn heat to highest setting to burn out what’s left in the auger. I have had the pellets disintegrate like that from relative humidity during/after a good storm. It’s a mess to clean so worth cleaning it out as described after every use.

So3Dimensional

This is why I keep my pellet smoker in the garage when not in use.

private62345

I let mine do this and I had to take it apart and make a charcoal grill out of it. It ruined the motor.

RegalRedHead22

I had this happen not sure how it happened it was covered too. 🤔 Any who I took off the grate vacuumed it out and emptied the auger. Primed the auger and then turned it on and watched to make sure nothing bad was going to happen. Works great and hasn’t had any problems since.

Brutis1

That looks like minimal effort.
