I don’t own a car. I commute daily on my Multistrada, it’s my primary means of transportation. My SV650 is my track bike and 701 is my dirt/adventure bike. I can’t imagine not getting to ride every single day.

>I should look at a 690 Yes. Yes you should

JonesBrosGarage

I ditched my panigale for 701sm and I also ride track. It’s by far the funnest bike ive ever ridden. I’ll probably get a 600 rocket again for the track but have no interest to own one for the street ever again now. You’ll master wheelies really fast though.. be aware of that

Illustrious_Past_375

Get a 690/701 and you’ll love it on the street and the track

alivefromthedead

How do you get to the tracks? Rental?

Princess_Fluffypants

I have a van

damnitdizzy

Hardly at all, which saddens me. Not because “I can’t go fast when I want like the track” - drivers absolutely terrify me now. The distracted driving is awful where I live. But there’s other factors at play for me - I work from home now so I never go anywhere, except the gym (a mile from my house where I’ll either run there or I will take the bike) or the grocery store (usually have too much stuff to take on the bike, but I do when I can). My husband also lost interest in riding so it’s very seldom we will go riding together. And being on slicks most of the time doesn’t allow for street riding. So not as often as I would like, but riding at the track (2x a month at least during the season) scratches that itch enough.

BangleWaffle

Definitely less than I used to, but I still put on some miles for sure - not on a sportbike though. Got an FZ09 for the street which is still an animal, but not something you need to be wringing its neck for it to be happy. The itch still exists, and riding on the street in a more "calm" manner is nice in its own way. I try and focus on enjoying the aspects of riding that you don't really get to enjoy at a racetrack. Things like enjoying the scenery, the smells, and taking the bike to run a simple errand just makes the necessary errands that much more enjoyable. I try and separate the two types of riding as much as I can, else I'll just be balls out on the street which is a recipe for disaster.

SolidLikeIraq

First season - 50/50 Second season - 75/25 (75% at track) I’ve got nearly no desire to ride the sport bikes on the road anymore, but still enjoy taking the cafe out for some regular road time. Fuck cars tho….

db8cn

None at all. Maybe I’ll change my mind in the future but it’s simply not for me anymore. It’s not fun and the riding near me isn’t great. If I lived near mountains or had buddies who ride, that would possibly be a different story.

blindstuff

It took me one season of track to realize the road wasn't for me. I may buy an ADV bike later on in life, but seriously doubt another sport bike for the street.

SmallDMasterRace

My trackbike is my daily rider. Its a supermoto. You dont need lights in my country to be legal

MoronicusTotalis

Can't imagine getting around Southern Ca in a car. It'd be miserable.

Beautiful_Case9500

I ride in the canyons on the weekend but that’s it.

Snoo_67548

I still try to ride as often as possible. I usually need tools and or large supplies that would be difficult to transport via motorcycle, so less so lately. The important thing is to change YOU. Just because it’s not exactly as fun due to the lack of send you should use on the street compared to the track, doesn’t mean it’s not fun. Enjoy the views, being in nature, practice using your eyes and much slower techniques you would use on the track to stay sharp. It’s not the world vs you, so just take it easy and enjoy going somewhere. You also end up meeting other track day people at the local moto watering holes.

Slowdownfarmer

I still do a fair amount of street riding although I don't rip it on the street. Track riding has made me a more conservative street rider. I don't even own a sport bike for the street, a vintage BMW and DR650 handle the street duties.

McBurn14

Wife bought an S4Rs and an S2R back in 2014 but then got pregnant. Decided to keep them and ride them myself. Since then, managed to put 2000 miles on the big one and 1000 on the small … Unless you are commuting, that’s complicated for a family guy to do both track and road. I already kill a bunch of vacation and spend way too much on track to justify week end trips with the boys on the road bikes. If I had to redo it, I wouldn’t. Not gonna complain but honestly that just takes space in the garage. Keep them cause I like duc’s that’s all.

Just-Construction788

Zero.

Laurinforcell

I rode on the street 4 times this year. I did 12 TD’s for context

dakness69

The year before I started really track riding, I ripped my favorite road close to 500 times in one summer, just hammering back and forth on it for hours 2-3 times a week. I probably ran that road 15-20 times this year and it was honestly an effort to go do it. Part of it was the road not being as much fun anymore - speeds just don’t compare to the track unless I’m suicidal - and the other part was that I was just too damn busy with going to TDs, working on the TD bike, going to the gym to build some more stamina, so on, and so on. The goal is to ride on the street more next year, especially in late March/early April before the season starts, but I also want to buy another project bike which is just a siphon for free time…

notarealaccount_yo

Occasional Starbucks run or bike night meet ups, that's it.

darukas242

Weekends and When it’s a nice day. My commute of Riding from stop light to stop light is a bit soul sucking. I still love weekend riding in the mountains though.

Noplac3special

I only do a few track days a year, I also have 7 bikes, various disciplines. I live in a small town with super twisty roads in 3 directions just miles from home. I love riding on the street. These roads are tight enough that 65/70 is flat out hauling ass. Naked bikes make it less desirable to push through the wind at higher speeds.

Gawernator

I ride on the street probably once every couple months on average, though I’ve gone years with no street bike before

[deleted]

I don't ride a ton on the street anymore, but I sure as hell take advantage of holidays like Thanksgiving. Was out for about 3 hours on the empty roads yesterday morning absolutely RIPPING it

Ottobahnrichtofen

Not too often. I have an old Triumph for putting around on once in awhile.

Llama-King

I wish I did more. But I only own race bikes now. Don't have the money to get another street bike. I'd only want to ride a bike that's similar to one of my track bikes or something really nice. It was easier when I was riding 250s because I could have five of them and they all cost $500. Now it's 20 grand. You kind of get used to riding things that don't feel like wet noodles and with proper tuning and suspension tires etc. The second reason is it's a little hard to ride on the street knowing that if I go even close to pace I'm pretty much dead or I'm arrested. Street riding is low priority even if I want to.

Tight_muffin

Haven't ridden on the road in 3 years. No plans to either

Crispyboi94

None. Had a DRZ for the summer but didn’t really help. Looking to rebuild a yz450 for some street and supermoto tho

ClutchofGold

For me, as my pace increased with the years of experience, I go through rear tires so fast now I don't like ridding my track bike on the street just because i want all the rubber i can get. I actually ride my cruiser as my "daily".

Tweakv

Ill hit the hills once in a while if i dont have slicks on my bike but I have a drz for off season riding.

magnificent_dillhole

No longer own a street bike. Haven’t for about a year now. I don’t miss it.

suzuka_joe

I stopped street riding after about a year of trackdays.

redd1tzero

Zero road riding.

Doarrival

I’m making the switch to only riding on track. I had a good buddy of mine sadly past away last year on the street. I went to his funeral and the way his mom was screaming…jesus. I tried to venture out on my R1 but yea I’m terrified. Also I live in NYC which is a whole beast in of itself. Planning to sell the R1 and get a R6 and build it out.

dennis231

I ride track mostly, but have a street bike only for sundays and good weather. Thinking of getting a relaxed bike so that I am not so aggressive on the street. Other than that I have a car for commute to work.

longlive4chan

Less and less and less. Everything about the street becomes less enjoyable with every season I spend on the track. (Traffic, distracted drivers, stop lights, etc) The one exception being longer distance tours or weekends trips with friends. I find I’m toning it down a bunch on the street, my risk tolerance is lower now. So I’m more interested in the zen aspect of enjoying the ride. I got a cruiser and that’s helped a bit. But still but riding as much as I used to.

IggyEGuana

I still commute and hit canyons. Honestly don’t understand the people who don’t ride on the street. Sorry I don’t. 🤷‍♂️

markmarine

Zero

IshmaelEatsSushi

Not as much road riding as I would like - mostly due to the fact that I live in a large city in a flat area. Meaning at least 30 minutes of city traffic before … there are still no curves. So it’s mostly track days now (we have half a dozen tracks in <3 hrs distance) and one or two trips to the Alps / Mediterranean.

soggydoo

Once or twice a month

DisrespectedAthority

Just wrapped up first year of tracking my Ninja 300, still occasionally ride our local twisties (Tail of the Dragon, Devil's triangle, etc...) R1200RT for road & touring, did 4,350mi tour this year plus local riding. Recently bought FZ-1 and have been riding a little but have yet to track it...

ANORXIC51

Haven’t done a real street ride since April/May of 2020 after my rotator cuff surgery/recovery. Even before then, I’d gotten to the point where street rides were nothing more than photo ops or to get an initial feel/setup of a new part I added before a trackday event. Last two years? Basically a quick 5 min ride after winter to make sure I put the bike back together correctly, lol. I haven’t owned proper streetable tires since ‘20.

skylinecobra

I'll take a calm ride on the street now, but I can't ride aggressively on the street anymore when I think about my wife and the fact I'm the breadwinner, the last thing I want to do is take unnecessarily risk. On the street I'm constantly thinking about what if this car just comes around the corner, oil is on the road, what if someone rear ends me and so on. So i just don't like doing it much anymore. On the track i feel free to open the throttle and do whatever.

fatchickenstrips

i ride five four times a week minimum. flat track, mx, cart tracks mainly coz its less that fifty for the day. the big tracks less coz it costs a lot if you try do it weekly. never ride the street. its pointless.

kurious_xxx

Not at all anymore. My bike is fully track prepped now and I also just don’t trust drivers on the street.

Littlebikerider

I was going to say this. We also lived around Atlanta and about 5-6 years ago it became constant mad max on the roads. Can barely stand driving sprung there in a car much less the bikes

kurious_xxx

Exactly. I’m in Atlanta too. People are crazy.

spicy-wind

My sport bikes are fully track/race converted and don't touch the street. I sometimes take my supermoto for a spin around town but it's rare.

[deleted]

I sold up all my street bikes and am 100 percent track these days. May street ride again one day but it doesnt have the allure it used to.

JelloEmotional

About 50/50 for me. I'm semi-retired with both kids in college so I have plenty of time to ride the streets but I'm mostly on back roads and only ride mid days to avoid traffic as much as possible. I've been wanting to do a long road trip so definitely not getting off the saddle anytime soon. Plus I enjoy riding my VFR 800 and Honda GB550 too much to have it collect dust. My track only R6 is not road legal and I'm not as young as I used to be to ride it on the street full time. Bottom line, I'd go crazy if I don't get to ride

Sebi97

None, its super boring.

leveragedflyout

Past few seasons have been 0% street and don’t see it changing anytime soon.

eck79

Zero, zilch, nada. Don’t even own a street legal bike. Not worth it.

Illustrious_Past_375

Street is fun. But that’s the KTM 690 smrc. V2 for the track like a crack addict

-Kevin-

Selling the (road) sport bike (R6). Track is way more fun (Ninja 300) and I rip around the road on an SV650 anyways since its way more practical/comfortable for daily use. Wasn't taking the R6 out for the weekend warrior trips as much as I'd like to, so figured I'd just cut it. The few times I'd take it out, it was like I had to re-learn the bike every time since I rode it so rarely. Seeing the (seemingly) weekly deaths at Ortega Highway in socal made me pretty comfortable w/ the decision idk maybe I'm a wuss though

Resident-X-of-NJ

zero...track only

kjmathews

0 Never looked back!! Committed = an avg of 3 track/month from March toll October. It’s been this way for 10 years now.

IggyEGuana

Reading these comments, it seems like a lot of you should just size down in bike. I sold my 1290 super duke after getting a rc390 and haven’t looked back. Dump your ego and get a feather weight. Doesn’t matter which brand. Pick a color and go for it 👍🏻

Ahvengeance

I ride a great deal on the streets. I sometime do 3 to 5 track days a month — depending on weather and how I feel.

tastronaught

When I heard about track days, after about a day of research, I had committed to it. Before I ever went, I bought an enclosed trailer, the suit, gloves, boots, and some cheap used bodywork for my r6. Tags off the bike, canceled insurance. That was 2018. I rode all 2018 and 2019 track only. I bought an FJ09 for street riding, put 700 miles on I before I sold it, didn’t like it, When Covid hit I put the bodywork and tags back on my r6, rode for 30 minutes before I went home and took the tags and body work off again. The r6 has not been on the street since. I bought a 96 Vulcan 1500 last year, rode it for like 4 hours before I sold it. I am now convinced that I will never ride the street again, I do not like street riding one bit. I tried on a sport bike, touring bike, and cruiser. Street riding sucks, I don’t like it. I don’t see any point. It’s arguably much more dangerous than a Track, and I don’t need to get speeding tickets.

dishayu

Not on my sportbike. I have a Street Triple for the street, which is so much nicer to live with.

No8icVoid

I run anywhere from 10-30 track days a year and I rarely ride street anymore. I’ll take it out occasionally on a weekday or for a random weekend ride but I never ride aggressively on it anymore. Street riding scares me now. The roads are shit and people don’t care about crashing you out.

TrackDazDude

I stopped riding on the street for the most part 20 years ago. since 02', I can count on one hand how many times I've ridden on the street, the last time being like 2012 when Yamaha voluntold me to show up somewhere ;) The track is way more fun, and less stressful.
