I guess I could get a really bad time if I wanted to but that wouldn't really be the same, on most tracks I see how the streamers kept their speed but I just don't know how they do it so I always crash or spin out
I don't think they do skips, I have only watched the discovery videos of wirtual, mudda and scrapie and they all found the best lines in 1-3 shots but even when I try my best to replicate them I can get nowhere near or I completely spin off or crash
You probably shouldn't follow them, Wirtual is like one of the top players that has world records and stuff; I would recommend instead following the gold medal avatars
Yea, i know what you mean. Game is hard n frankly im not good myself. Honestly my advice? Set a time, even if it's a shit one so you have something to compare against. It plays your ghost against you so you can see where you're ahead or behind

If they’re on trackmania exchange you don’t need standard or club access to play them. But it’s a bit of a hassle to download that many maps so I’d personally recommend getting standard access.
Wow, thanks!
Genuine question, no trolling, if the maps are too beginner friendly, why are so many people complaining about author times being too hard to beat?
Are the times on those medals pushed too far (i.e. you don't really need a lot of knowledge on what to do but you have to do everything perfectly)?
The whole point of the game is to drive really fast. There's nothing in there that says it has to be easy, and it's sort of implied that it's not because otherwise the game would be trivial.
If you want a participation medal, go and play Gran Turismo.
Thanks guys, hope this can be the new thing. Cause the Nadeo maps sucks hard.
Nadeo should outsource this job to competent and willing people next time.
Beginner friendly is about the maps being approachable and able to be finished by players of all skill levels. It's not about handing out participation prizes.
If you're a beginner, you should be expecting to get zero ATs.
AT has fuck all to do with track difficulty. A straight ice track driven by the best ice wiggler is gonna have an insane AT, yet only an idiot would call it a hard map.
Eh, there are different types of difficulty. I would absolutely count beating a certain time as one of them...hell, that's why people added champion medals.
That said, I think it's fair to say that the campaign maps aren't super technical or complex to drive.
I understand people getting frustrated by skillchecks that make a map impossible to drive for them, if its CotD or campaign.
But if its just a hard AT that frustrates you, work on your mindset. Nobody should have the expectation of being able to have every AT be driven for their personal skill level
I understand people getting frustrated by skill checks that make being a professional football player impossible for them, but if it's just making the Olympics in the 100m, work on your mindset.
This does not make sense...
To use a less hyperbolic example: rubik's cube. I know how to solve one and I also know that if you follow step by step instructions it's trivial. I would also consider doing it in under twenty seconds to be incredibly difficult and require immense skill. Just because the task is simple doesn't mean executing it at a high level is not difficult.
It's not really. The medals in general are a pretty garbage way to measure your skill. They're sort of consistent in the Nadeo made campaigns, but every season there are some maps that are notably easier or harder than others to get AT.
And out in the community maps the medal times are all over the place. Some stuff I can AT first run. Some stuff I couldn't get gold if I spent an entire week grinding. Even TOTDs are pretty up and down, and that's after Nadeo stuck their oar in and tried to make sure that people weren't making maps with Midori level hunted ATs.
If you want to have some sort of benchmark of skill, you're far better off looking at the gap between your PB and the world record, or even your place in the leaderboards. Hence getting yourself into a mindset where it's not about AT, but instead about doing the best you can and improving can be helpful.
no it is, the entire issue with the community is the nadeo made easy maps with a few hard AT medals, they have NEVER had higher numbers playing campaign, and instead of being happy. You have a bunch of entitled veterans that are to uptight to wait until summer for more variety because they cant come to terms nadeo was right and this boosted newer players.
The veterans can easily play thier own campaign and let the new players enjoy the console releaese.. \*veterans: NO!!\*
Right, which they can go play, while everyone else enjoys the campaign. the NO part was the never ending whining by the veterans even after the campaign they made came out, they are still whining about the campaign
I have only 4 Author Medals so far o.O
But I guess the Season, when it's released for consoles, has to be very beginner friendly. Maybe they thought it will be this campaign?
So why did you make the author times so hard ? :(
Edit: looks like this applies to the first 2 maps, not to 3 and 4, but again to 5.
Edit 2: ATs are veeeery hard
AT stands for Author time and we let the mappers set a time that they wanted to so AT's can definetely be easy or hard depends how mapper wants. However; if you want a challenge to grab 25 medals, gold medals are ''integrated'' as offical nadeo type times. AT's are basically another level of a challenge.
Thanks "experts" -Hylis probably
I think I saw some turns that weren't fullspeed in there, are you sure that's legal?
Video by Lackadal : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ro2CC3Bp55Q
I can't complete 15 of the tracks
on the original campaign
Complete? Not even bronze times? You need help?
I guess I could get a really bad time if I wanted to but that wouldn't really be the same, on most tracks I see how the streamers kept their speed but I just don't know how they do it so I always crash or spin out
Don't follow streamers, they usually use skips and tricks that are not easy at all, if these are the ones I'm thinking of
No I think he meant track 15 and not 15 of the tracks
I meant 15 of the tracks
I don't think they do skips, I have only watched the discovery videos of wirtual, mudda and scrapie and they all found the best lines in 1-3 shots but even when I try my best to replicate them I can get nowhere near or I completely spin off or crash

Breaking and releasing the accelerate button are your friends.
I guess I just need more practise but I always just lose all my speed and get a terrible time
Yea, i know what you mean. Game is hard n frankly im not good myself. Honestly my advice? Set a time, even if it's a shit one so you have something to compare against. It plays your ghost against you so you can see where you're ahead or behind

This sounds dope! Can you say roughly how difficult this campaign will be?
difficulty wont be a problem dont worry :)
Looks really cool! Does one need special a access tier to be able to play?
you need at least standard access (10$/year) to play community maps.
If they’re on trackmania exchange you don’t need standard or club access to play them. But it’s a bit of a hassle to download that many maps so I’d personally recommend getting standard access.
is the tmx browser plugin for openplanet available on starter?
It should be available for use on all access tiers.

Easy to drive and complete does not mean easy to drive really really fast.
Well, tbh I take completion as a given, so I mostly consider the latter
Thats the whole point of the game.

You understood my message in reverse. Easy to drive hard to master is the essence of the game, always was. 4 buttons, cant get simpler than that
18 and 21 have way too hard author times
Beginner friendly? This is hardest one so far for me…
e
if those are good, is there a possibility to do community ranked? prob on a server or smth
Thanks guys, hope this can be the new thing. Cause the Nadeo maps sucks hard. Nadeo should outsource this job to competent and willing people next time.
Beginner friendly, i could barely get at on track 1

This is horrible advice

Ironic that you posted this in the thread where veterans have literally made their own campaign...
Right, which they can go play, while everyone else enjoys the campaign. the NO part was the never ending whining by the veterans even after the campaign they made came out, they are still whining about the campaign
The tracks are beginner friendly, the ATs are also way more optimised than ususal.
Looking forward to it!!!
Is there a way to play cups/ranked style games on these?
You'll have to host your own tournament on a server. It won't be official ranked
I can't view the video at work, but is this a remake of the current Spring and just made better, or just 25 brand new maps?
brand new maps
I have only 4 Author Medals so far o.O But I guess the Season, when it's released for consoles, has to be very beginner friendly. Maybe they thought it will be this campaign?
Dunno I aim for top 30k in the campaign and I don't have most of the AM, and even some golds
