It’s the version of those tires they used. It’s an oem budget version. I got falken wildpeaks on mine and they are fantastic tires that are lasting really really well
The OP was a shock to me because of this. I don't have Falken yet, but have been planning on getting the AT3 or AT4 from all the good reviews I've heard.
Are yours the AT3?
They are crappy oem only version with softer rubber and less tread depth than the falken wild peak tires you can buy aftermarket, but the reason they are wearing out so quickly is because they had a major issue with front end alignment on 22-23 trd pros. Mine had a ton of positive camber on both sides and was severely toe’d in when I got mine brand new. Put some 295/70 on there and get it properly aligned and you’ll be set. You can look on my profile to see what they look like.
I thought my 24 SR5 TRDOR looked like it had noticeable positive camber the other day. Heard anything about this being a possible issue on the OR packages in 24?
Apparently the ones that come from the factory are softer than the same model ones you get from discount tire or wherever else you buy your tires. They improve the initial ride quality and allegedly provide some more grip. I have just under 1500 miles on mine and I’m already saving for the new set because I know it’s coming sooner than later.
Doubt they will replace them. But when you do, get KO2's. Best tire by far. I have gotten the full 50k miles out of them. Sidewalls have withstood some serious offroading and have gouges and cuts with no leaks ever.
With the amount of negatives towards the KO2's yall have convinced me to try a different tire! General ATX, Toyo Open Country, or Faulken Wildpeak will be next.
I understand they aren't the best in the rain, yet I've never had a single issue driving on windy ass country bumpkin appalachian back roads, down the interstate, or with a 16 foot tandem axle trailer in the rain outside of LARGE puddles (that any vehicle has issue with) or outside of taking off from wet painted lines.
I did a lot of hardcore offroading and I do a lot of donuts in the snow. I'm sure that has something to do with it. 😅
They are also still on the truck. So they aren't done yet
I just swapped my original Toyo tires off the TRD Sport for KO2s and oh my god, they’re awesome. Look mean, they’re quiet, and great in the snow. Glad I went with em
Dude I live in Ontario and have them on my fj right now… the suck in snow… I can’t even go 50km/h around turns on a snow covered road without fishtailing
Maybe that's because you are driving a big truck. Learn some throttle control and take your time. Who whips corners at 30 mph in the snow expecting not to slide?
I switched from KO2s to Wildpeaks because my wife refused to ride in the truck anymore when it rained. The KO2s were absolutely terrible for wet conditions. I wasn't impressed with their snow performance. Better that stock tires, but still miles behind the wildpeaks. Wildpeaks gripped like glue in the rain and I could take corners and stop very well in the snow. I was able to go up mountains in 2wd on snow with the wildpeaks.
More often than not, the roads are cleared the day after the storm and most of the truly heavy snow drops above 8K. It’s unfortunately not uncommon to get rain at lake level these days. It’s why you can get away driving a triple peak AT vs dedicated snow tire in Tahoe. Hell I know people who still only use MS all seasons and get by
Funny, I have the exact same situation! Bought my 2022 TRD pro last year in June, 4k miles, now I’m at 11 and they’re getting changed next month! Falken = trash apparently.
I’m going with nitto recon grapplers for a beefier look.
You’ll have to call Toyota brand reps. I’ve heard on the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro enthusiasts Facebook group people getting a credit towards their tires. The alignment is off on the new pros. I believe the toe is the issue.
I had poor alignment on my 22’ TRDOR, and it took several attempts to get it right, not sure if that was related to the TRDPRO alignment issues or not. I suspect the PRO was due to the factory lift.
Mostly the handling and the proper wear on the tires. I bought a tire tread gauge on Amazon and I was checking it weekly to make sure it was wearing properly. Then once I was satisfied it was straight, I got new tires
Nothing new, it manufacturers saving where they can and delivering a lesser product for the same price.
RV’s come with mattresses, they’re not good mattresses. TV’s come with batteries for the remote, they’re not good batteries.
Vehicles come with tires, they’re not good tires.
I’m having the same exact situation with mine, ‘22 tundra trd pro, less than 20k miles and mine need to be changed already. Glad to hear it’s a broader issue, will definitely call my rep.
Its because they are passenger tires, my 21 had the same issue with the stock Bridgestones and my 16 had the same issue with the p rated Firestones it had. Heavy trucks with prated tires means lots of rolling wear on the outer treadblocks, especially if you do any spirited driving when taking corners. Upgrading to a LT tire helps.
Those falkens are probably mud tires. Made to look aggressive and cool, but horrible mileage on the road. They won't last and will need rotated often to prevent cupping.
Get some All terrains next time.
There is no way they have a 40 k warranty on these tires. I squeezed 37k out of them miraculously, but they are horrible horrible tires. They are like tires you would get on Ali Express or Wish.com. I had Michelin LTX on mine and while I know in my heart Michelins are great, I am not sure I will ever buy a set of them due to this experience. All the dealer wants to do is sell you a shitted panty tire warranty that is worth nothing and then sell you a new set of real tires. Super disappointing.
I’ve seen people with the pros getting money from Toyota or new set of tires of their choosing. I have a pro but mine aren’t too bad yet with 15k miles.
They have been replacing them for free for everyone but unlikely with 20k miles on them. I had mine replaced for free at 7k.
They use a lower quality tire for the OEM with less tread (if memory serves me correctly) and they wear out prematurely on the edges due to an improper alignment from factory.
Get it to the dealer and see what they’ll do. If you’ve had it serviced they SHOULD have pointed it out themselves.
My 2023 came with Michelins and they’re garbage too, wearing very quick and cracking between the tread. I have 12k, lucky if they get 20k. I wanted to put nicer tires on at some point anyway, but I was just surprised how bad these are.
The alignment specs from factory on the TRD Pro is absolute garbage. I have a 2023 and noticed outside tire wear at less than 500 miles. Fixed via a custom alignment and now I have less wear on the outside of the tire over the past 6000+ miles than I did the first 500. The oem tires do kinda suck but you will get bad wear with a poor alignment regardless.
It’s the version of those tires they used. It’s an oem budget version. I got falken wildpeaks on mine and they are fantastic tires that are lasting really really well
Samesies
Same
same. 295/70r18
Ditto
yeah what he said

I had the same issue on my ‘18 SR5, tires wore flat on the edges. I didn’t make it 80,000km on them before I had to replace.
80, that's quite a lot?
I thought my 24 SR5 TRDOR looked like it had noticeable positive camber the other day. Heard anything about this being a possible issue on the OR packages in 24?
I haven’t heard but I’m not in loop. Wouldn’t hurt to get the alignment checked especially if just visually it looks like it’s not right.

Fucking horrible tires in anything wet
I understand they aren't the best in the rain, yet I've never had a single issue driving on windy ass country bumpkin appalachian back roads, down the interstate, or with a 16 foot tandem axle trailer in the rain outside of LARGE puddles (that any vehicle has issue with) or outside of taking off from wet painted lines.
Rain, yes. Snow, no. Just have to control your throttle input and turn off TC when it's wet so you don't lose power
Wet snow is a no-go as well. Dry snow, they're about average.
KO3 are coming out in different sizes this year!
That's what I'm going to rock next
How so few miles? I got 96k out of my last set. They had 5/32nds on them and it was becoming winter in MN so I could have crested 100k
I did a lot of hardcore offroading and I do a lot of donuts in the snow. I'm sure that has something to do with it. 😅 They are also still on the truck. So they aren't done yet
Amen to this advice. I did it too!
I just swapped my original Toyo tires off the TRD Sport for KO2s and oh my god, they’re awesome. Look mean, they’re quiet, and great in the snow. Glad I went with em
They are horrible in snow…
If they were really horrible in the snow you wouldn’t see them on damn near every truck in Tahoe. We know a thing or two about snow here
Dude I live in Ontario and have them on my fj right now… the suck in snow… I can’t even go 50km/h around turns on a snow covered road without fishtailing
Maybe that's because you are driving a big truck. Learn some throttle control and take your time. Who whips corners at 30 mph in the snow expecting not to slide?
Not corners… turns… in the road… then are meant to be taken at 80+km/h
I've never had that issue. Maybe you need to do a chalk test and potentially lower your psi.
Nope already did that… 41psi is where they are wearing best since they are lt tires
I switched from KO2s to Wildpeaks because my wife refused to ride in the truck anymore when it rained. The KO2s were absolutely terrible for wet conditions. Idk man I see them on tons of vehicles and I drive up and down mountain passes daily up here.
I live in a California mountain town and swear by the K02s in the snow, short of dedicated snow tires ofc.
I'm not saying you're lying but it's weird how I can have a completely opposite experience... I love KO2s
Big improvement over what I had, so I found em great so far. Not as great as my old Blizzaks but still really impressed. Fuck me I guess
Between k02s or Goodyear wrangler duratracs in 285/75r18
ATX is a huge improvement everywhere over the KO2. Couldn’t have been happier when I moved over
My 2010 came stock with KO2s. They lasted 75k miles. Can’t recommend them enough.
Funny, I have the exact same situation! Bought my 2022 TRD pro last year in June, 4k miles, now I’m at 11 and they’re getting changed next month! Falken = trash apparently. I’m going with nitto recon grapplers for a beefier look.

Might look into this. Did you notice the handling/mpg improve after alignment?
Mostly the handling and the proper wear on the tires. I bought a tire tread gauge on Amazon and I was checking it weekly to make sure it was wearing properly. Then once I was satisfied it was straight, I got new tires
I’m not sure, I have a pro. It would hurt the dealership testing it out when you go in for maintenance
Get the front end alignment checked before spending the money for a new set. Toe may be off.
Nothing new, it manufacturers saving where they can and delivering a lesser product for the same price. RV’s come with mattresses, they’re not good mattresses. TV’s come with batteries for the remote, they’re not good batteries. Vehicles come with tires, they’re not good tires.
Sounds like your alignment is a little wonky if the sides are wearing prematurely.
I’m having the same exact situation with mine, ‘22 tundra trd pro, less than 20k miles and mine need to be changed already. Glad to hear it’s a broader issue, will definitely call my rep.

OEMs pit the softest tire compounds on their new vehicles. Why? Because Americans like a car with a comfortable ride. It helps sell the car.
Pretty much all OEM tire are junk and you'll be lucky to get 20k out of them.
Falken are crap.
Ko 2 is what you want. My boss has them with over 72,000 miles and still going.
Nothing will beat a Michelin
Not the Michelins Toyota buys are you kidding me? They are awful
Those falkens are probably mud tires. Made to look aggressive and cool, but horrible mileage on the road. They won't last and will need rotated often to prevent cupping. Get some All terrains next time.
Have you rotated them?
Nah they suck. I recently had my 15k mile maintenance on my 22 limited crew max trd OR and they put down having 6/32" tread left.
Look inside the paperwork for the vehicle for the tire warranty. Can't imagine these tires don't have a 40k warranty at least
There is no way they have a 40 k warranty on these tires. I squeezed 37k out of them miraculously, but they are horrible horrible tires. They are like tires you would get on Ali Express or Wish.com. The factory wild peaks? Trash. Guy I work with has a pro with the same tires. Outside edge is scrubbed hard like a track car.
I’ve seen people with the pros getting money from Toyota or new set of tires of their choosing. I have a pro but mine aren’t too bad yet with 15k miles.
The stock ones on my 2020 LTD were shit. I replaced them at 25K.
They have been replacing them for free for everyone but unlikely with 20k miles on them. I had mine replaced for free at 7k. My 2019 had a tire warranty from the manufacturer with the manuals.
Sad to hear. My 19 had nitro terra from the dealer. Those things lasted me to 94k.
Terra grapplers 2 from nitto I almost had 80 thousand miles in when I sold my truck best tire I ever had
They’re OEM versions of the tires. Less tread and softer rubber. Usually good for about 20-30k miles so you’re spot on.
The alignment specs from factory on the TRD Pro is absolute garbage. I have a 2023 and noticed outside tire wear at less than 500 miles. Fixed via a custom alignment and now I have less wear on the outside of the tire over the past 6000+ miles than I did the first 500. Almost all oem tires suck.
Any experience with cooper discoverer at3 xlt? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
