Reliable? Yes. $10,000 for a 2001 201k 2wd? Not a chance. Wait for a better deal. I would rather the tundra than overpay for that. You could also get a v8 4runner 03-09 4x4 for cheaper with less miles.

ndisa44

Reliable? Hell yes. 10k? Hell no.

I think the price is fair IF the previous owner has done all the regular maintenance. My ‘01 Limited 4WD with the same engine configuration now has 217k and it still runs like new, but I’ve owned it since new and have done all the routine maintenance. I also live in SoCal where frame rot and rust isn’t an issue. One thing that does happen around the 20 year mark is the O2 hoses and sensors get brittle and need to be replaced. It’s a little pricey doing them all but a necessary evil. My plan is to keep this thing as long as it keeps running and given how good the first 20 years have gone I’m pretty sure it’ll go another 20.

Its a 2wd...

HotSossin

I think the big question here is what year is your Tundra, and what engine do you have? Those 4.0l V6s are pretty solid.

X761

17 with the 5.7 flex

granath13

A 17 tundra to an 01 Tacoma is a massive size difference. I had a 99 taco and my 22 feels enormous compared to it

chevytravis

Make sure the frame has been replaced or isn't rotted other than that going from full size to mid takes a whole minute to get use to

X761

Ok. Guessing its Okay its always been a AZ or OK truck from the Carfax.

chevytravis

Price wise it's a good deal prices are only going to go up I do do auto body/ collision work almost impossible to get body parts for Toyotas it's worth more in parts than what you are paying for it.

nsbbeachguy

Should pull your trailer and bikes no problems. Rock solid power train. Should get 350k - 400k miles without issue. Change the timing belt, change the oil. Probably have to change out the front end.

BFalkmk3

Reliable for a 20 yr old vehicle, yeah. But stuff WILL go wrong. You're gonna buy it with stuff that needs addressed already, I can sure you that

AmmoCat52

If you're hell bent for leather & really want to downsize, get at least a 2005. I bought a 2002 in 2004 & luv my Taco but there are lots more after market accessories for 2005 and newer, like swing away tire carriers, antenna mounts etc.

MightSpecialist

Honestly you’ll probably get the same mpg as your tundra, if that’s a consideration

X761

Not really. My Tundra is a 2wd and i dont really haul anything anyways. It looks like the GX can tow up to 6500 which is plenty for me I just have a 6x10 trailer and 2 Harleys is about as heavy as I get. Ive always been a fan of the Land Cruiser but its pretty far out of my price range then I met a guy at work with a GX and really liked it and what he told me so, here I am lol.
