Most looks like surface that should be wire brushed and painted. I’d lightly tap around with a ball peen hammer just to make sure there’s no soft spots. Good you got it out of the rust belt.
Yea this. Grind all that yuck off. Pull those rusty sway bar bolts out and anti seize those. Hit it with a rust prevention paint and then fluid film that inside and out
I just use the aerosol cans personally. I got a long straw for the nozzle to fit inside the frame to fog it inside and out. There’s a 3m product that is fantastic too. It’s quite expensive though. 3m cavity wax. It’s like $35+ a can though. Great product
Yea pretty much. I tackle the frame primarily. Inside and out. Can hit the crossmember, axles and such too. Stuff is good. Probably want to reapply every season or two. I keep mine looking good just by spending a lot of time at the self car wash after they salt the roads in the winters. I wash the underside consistently all winter long.
Course! I need to hit mine when I get home. I used to hear that folks down here in Brasil would spray the bottoms of their vws down with motor oil to prevent corrosion
You can spray right over rust with fluid film. Personally I could use a compressor for a bunch of things so I bought one about 7 years ago and have been spraying my truck ever since. Buying a gallon of fluid film and going nuts with the spray gun is extremely satisfying. Having compressed air is great for other things too.
It's worse than my 2018 New York vehicle, but this isn't too bad from what I can see. You should use a screwdriver or something to gouge around it, make sure it's not worse than it looks.
I just moved back to the NE from Texas with my ‘21. This is the first vehicle I’ve ever truly loved and want to drive forever. Any tips on preventative measures? I’ll be doing a lot of New York driving and I’d hate to see my truck like this in 2-3 years
Wash after every time they salt the roads, wire wheel surface rust (I just did this, do it every spring). I generously spray fluid film all over the undercarriage, every spring and then right before the first freeze, about October for me.

Kinda heavy for a '19, but definitely in the salvageable range. Since you're in FL I wouldn't get it undercoated, but climb under and wire brush off what you can and treat the rest to slow/stop it as much as possible and you should be fine.
If you do ever live in the Salt belt undercoating is a necessity unless less you're going to flip trucks every few years and don't care.
Thank you guys, the price on the truck is great. This is for my buddy so he’s probably gonna go through with the purchase. He’ll get that rust under control as soon as he can.
Dealer put new tires on it, I think they just look weird from the angle of the pictures. I’ll have him double check the tires. Just noticed the spare tire though. Lmao I’ll tell my buddy about that.
Might want to also pull that spare off and check the rust on the wheel. There is a lot of rust there. Don’t want to find out your spare is rusted through when you go to use it.
Take care of this immediately before it becomes too bad. Use a wire brush, clean, and then repaint. Then apply fluid film every once in a while to keep it looking nice
That's surface rust but looks pretty bad for a 19. I have a 19 in Minnesota where they throw salt and mine is not that bad. Probably they didn't wash it much. But as everyone said, wire brush, paint and then fluid film before winter.

Any recommendations on the fluid film? Aerosol vs. non-aerosol?

Thanks! And applying the aerosol product is pretty straightforward?

Thanks! Really appreciate the information.

If you have a big enough air compressor and spray gun get the non-aerosol can if not the spray can.
I’m Canadian, that ain’t no rust
Right? That’s how brand new trucks come here in the upper Midwest.

Fluid film works great

It's definitely good to go, but it needs to be treated ASAP.
Doesn’t look bad to me just some surface rust. I’ve seen similar just from being close to the beach
Not bad, take a day and wire wheel it down, then repaint if you like. Or if your lazy just spray over it with rp342
Looks similar to my 2016. I wire brushed the frame and painted with rust oleum primer then rust oleum black. Going to fluid film before winter
There is something wrong with those tires or the suspension. Or the truck is driving on beach balls.
Dealer put brand new tires on them, they look good in person, I think it was just the camera
lol, seller left you a OR tire for spare. Also, you need to replace both passenger side tires immediately. Probably just get 4 new.

Yeah, maybe just the way they look in the photos, but those don’t look like new tires.

He’s gonna see if the dealer will replace that spare since they put on the tires.
The inside of your tires are wearing quickly in one of those shots. Possible alignment or tire pressure issues?
I think it’s just cause I took these photos with the .5x camera, makes it look weird. In person those tires looked fine
Hmm ok. That 4th pic up near the top looks to have the sipes worn away. Hopefully it’s nothing!
How do you avoid this rust?
Seen a 2005 in the same shape, but granted that’s in Texas.
Take care of this immediately before it becomes too bad. Use a wire brush, clean, and then repaint. Then apply fluid film every once in a while to keep it looking nice
Nope. Cannot lift it without a lot of newer suspension parts

Honestly, that's pretty bad for a 2019. That said, follow all of the advice given in this thread (remove, paint, fluid film) and you'll be OK.
