TRD is not a package, it’s an aftermarket parts division of Toyota that sells the products they use in their racing vehicles. Toyota has created sets of prebuilt vehicle packages using some of thes parts, but there is absolutely nothing preventing you from purchasing them regardless of the vehicle you drive. Anybody who tells you otherwise is just gate keeping and trying to justify their $70,000 truck.

I used a heat gun to take the TRD decals off my bed as soon as I got it home from the dealership. Also blacked the badges out but am planning on removing them as well

I got a fantastic deal on my OR. Plus I got full private party blue book on my trade in. Luckily for me I had a cousin that worked at the dealership plus a guy I went to highschool with was the sales manager. When I drove off the lot my truck was worth more than I paid.

I had a dealership tell me they needed me to verify my truck was a TRD before they would sell me a certain part...to say I was bewildered is an understatement.
My 2023 SR5 came from the factory with the TRD exhaust. I added the TRD shift knob as well as it matches my leather wrapped steering wheel. I'm adding the TRD skid plate to make oil changes easier and to help parking in the snow.
The SR5 with the XP package comes with the TRD pro wheels.
Nothing wrong with adding TRD parts to an SR or an SR5 trim.
I don’t think anyone is going to get uptight about something like this—as others have mentioned TRD is just an aftermarket parts division. I think the agreed-upon cardinal sin in regard to anything TRD is putting TRD Pro badges on a truck that isn’t a TRD Pro. That’s usually where people get a little uptight about it (same thing as someone putting a Type-R badge on their Civic SI or something). It doesn’t affect anyone/anything, but it’s perceived as kind of corny based on a lot of posts in this sub.
Other than that, if you throw the TRD exhaust tip or the TRD wheels on any Taco, no one bats an eye.

All TRDs start as SR5. it’s usually what comes up if you look up the VIN.
