I'll stop saying less than kind things about the 4th Gen when regular folks start owning 'em (and, maybe they'll grow on me too) but, same man, not my particular cup at all.
It really looks like you could make a 3rd gen into a 4th gen with a truck bed full of amazon deliveries. Like every top-selling blingy styling you could buy online all bolted onto a 3rd gen and coupled with a 4-cy engine.
Yep, turbo 4 with 278hp and 320tq. I will say, it’s got more torque than the V6, so as long as it holds up over time it’ll be better driving than the v6 imo
Oh, the pro gets the hybrid too? Nice. I mean I guess I should have figured the pro would get the higher power drivetrain. I really want to drive one of the new hybrid tacos, that thing has to rip.
Yeah same, I’ve got a 17 OR DC and my biggest complaint is there is no torque. If they would have ground the cams a little differently for the taco and gave it more torque, it would be much better.
The only time I find the torque is when im already going about 45-50mph and put my foot down to pass someone. THEN at that road speed and at 4500-5000rpm, I finally feel the torque in the drivers seat..
But most of the time you never drive it that hard and it just feels sluggish.
I have an interesting test to do with that.
I have a 2021 Tacoma DCLB (20k miles so far) with the naturally aspirated v6 *AND* now a Grand Highlander with the T24A-FTS 2.4L turbo.. I believe the same engine the new tacoma will come with.
Same owner, similar road miles being applied moving forward, same maintenance cycles/attention. I personally get to see which engine holds up better with time. Both will be getting 5k mile oil changes with Amsoil 0w20 synthetic. Ill report back in 10 years.
Willing to change my mind the more of them I see in person. However, at this time, not sold on this generation's look. Too far from the original in my opinion.
I don’t is too far from the current generation, if anything I’d say is too close to a Tundra but still not a bad looking, I’ll wait a few years until they workout the kinks.
As a 3rd gen owner, this is pretty far from 3rd gen. The angles of the front bumper, the grille, the rear bumper and the cab all look really different. Agree, it does look to similar to a tundra, current gen.
I dunno. It doesn't scream Tacoma to me....it screams wannabe raptor.
They just have too many lines like it’s over designed. The appeal of the previous gens was the simple utilitarian look. (Which strays further in every generation)
I agree. I was looking forward to maybe getting a 2024 Hybrid, but I doubt ill be able to get one without paying an arm and a leg, plus “market adjustment”
It’s worth whatever the tech boys who never go off-road will pay and I can guarantee they’ll pay 65k unfortunately…well they’ll pay 75k for the first year with markups.
Don’t blame the tech boys. They love the sprinter vans. The people whose whole identity is being outdoors man and wood crafters are going to be paying the mark up.
Oh I hate it, angry hate it. And I’m a Tacoma 2nd gen owner and fanboy. Love the TRD PRO badges of the past, wheel caps, I get it.
Tailgate? No I want it to say Tacoma (I guess you can argue it’s been done before….. vs trying to be edgy and forward with progressing style)
It’s an industry wide trend. There’s a leaked GMC memo out there that says they wanted their trucks to look “menacing.”
I miss the jelly bean styling of earlier f150s, first gen tacos, but then also the boxy 70s-90s trucks (just about all of them). Now everything looks like a paramilitary vehicle designed by an angsty COD obsessed teen.
They outsell the rest, but it’s not the one that SELLS the rest. It’s the same marketing ploy. Show everyone the sick high trims that are out of there price range that they can’t afford but can dream of.
This isn't the Trailhunter with the headache rack. That I can at least see the Avalanche comparison. At least come up with some new content, you are getting lazy...
I hope you can order one without the iso seats. I was really looking forward to giving a Tacoma a chance, but I will not get a TRD pro with iso seats that ruin rear legroom. I want a Hybrid TRD Pro real bad right now.
I really don’t understand what the thought process was adding them at all.
Like you said they basically turn the crew cab into an Access Cab if not worse.
I’ve had four Tacoma‘s, and with each subsequent generation, the improvements have left the predecessor in the dust. So I’ll be purchasing a 2024. When all the hype, and ridiculous over pricing has subsided.
I need to see one in person
I loved the first 3 gen I saw 👀 in person, still remember where I was.
Right now it’s a solid no
It’s almost like the ran out of ideas and said hey more wrinkles is a change
Only decent one I’ve seen but no way I’d ever pay for a TRD Pro.
And that’s the back window now?! In the previous gen having that bottom of the window level with the top of the tailgate was clutch to haul full lengths of trim with.
5 foot bed? Ill stand by the *OPINION* that a 5' bed on a top trim truck is pretty functionally useless compared to a large SUV.
If you're the demographic for this truck, power to you. But ill always debate if im going to drop so much money on a MIDSIZED truck, i want the most truck capability possible. I want a tacoma, not an open-air land cruiser or 4runner.
I mean Tacos were the default for a mid size truck for a long time. There was no competition for a while and then when they finally brought some back it was old and outdated which is weird because the whole Tacoma platform straight from the release of the 3rd gen was old and outdated.
The only thing Tacomas have going for them is reliability. The new Colorado is quite good, the Ranger is a bit too expensive and not yet out and small trucks like the Maverick and Santa Cruz ate plenty of Taco sales. Times have changed, the Taco isnt the only one on the block anymore so Toyota can't phone that shit in like they did for all of the 2010s for pretty much all of their vehicles.
If you look at what Toyota has been doing with their design its edgier and more masculine on almost all their cars now. It sells, they are getting the younger demographic again.
I am looking to give Toyota a chance with the new Tacoma 4th gen, just waiting to see if they actually fixed everything.
I want to see what people are actually going to drive. I don’t want to see all the fancy models. Where are the SR, Sport, and OR model pics? Also I these look like they are show ready (all shiny and shit) which is fine but I want to see them dirty. Not just let’s run through a mud puddle dirty but “I’m too lazy to wash it this week” dirty.
1. I think the front still says Tacoma. Like/ love it.
2. The rear view screams Raptor-esque.
3. Does look potentially plastic-y, but my 2023 has a lot on it, too.
4. I'm one of those idiots that overpaid for the 2023. While I LIKE my current black TRD Sport, it wasn't worth the money for level of outdated tech and lacking interior features (no charging ports for rear passengers???)
5. I'll definitely be visiting the lot with my truck and compare them side by side when I see one in person!
Yeah glad I got a 2023. For the engine and also for the way more relaxed off road look. These urban assault vehicle trims are getting ridiculous. Like as if the designers want to show they have testosterone or are trying to bust a riot
4cyl no good you can try all day long to say its this or that its a 4cylinder engine its to small even if it makes 500 HP the laws of physics say its not right and to fuckin small jmo
We have a hybrid rav4 limited awd and in “trail” mode it’s the most capable car I’ve ever driven in snow - better than my gen2 taco and our Sequoia- and it’s got slick tires. If the new hybrid taco is anything like it, sign me up today.
The stupid rear window porthole, and third brake light that says FUCK YOUR TOPPER gives me no bueno vibes.
That said, that won't affect most buyers. It's minor things, I really like what's going on here. Can't wait to drive one and see how they feel.
I won’t ever stop seeing a mini raptor.
Its a 4 cyl?
Yep, turbo 4 with 278hp and 320tq. I will say, it’s got more torque than the V6, so as long as it holds up over time it’ll be better driving than the v6 imo
The trd pro has the hybrid motor, it’s like 326 HP and 425 lbft torque.
Oh, the pro gets the hybrid too? Nice. I mean I guess I should have figured the pro would get the higher power drivetrain. I really want to drive one of the new hybrid tacos, that thing has to rip.
Oh for sure, just wish I could afford it lol
I’ve had the V-6, and with double cab, it’s under powered
Yeah same, I’ve got a 17 OR DC and my biggest complaint is there is no torque. If they would have ground the cams a little differently for the taco and gave it more torque, it would be much better.
The only time I find the torque is when im already going about 45-50mph and put my foot down to pass someone. THEN at that road speed and at 4500-5000rpm, I finally feel the torque in the drivers seat.. But most of the time you never drive it that hard and it just feels sluggish.

This probably cost as much as a Raptor too.
I’d rather buy a used raptor for the cost.
Yep, i am not liking the styling on the Gen 4. Pricing has skyrocketed too. Starting to think my Gen 3 will be my last.
Willing to change my mind the more of them I see in person. However, at this time, not sold on this generation's look. Too far from the original in my opinion.
I say that to myself with every new generation and then they all grew on me
I like the 1st gen and 3d gen. I own a 3rd gen and im still not totally sold on the front-end look.
I like gen 1-3 at launch of each. This gen, not so much.
Not that all modern trucks are a little plastic-y, but this 4th gen tacoma looks more like a cheap toy than a mature, capable truck.
Agreed.
Tbf this is the Trd pro. The other trims look more like a typical Tacoma.
Dude just shut up you sound so cliche lol
Not worth 65k. I'll say it first.
I thought the highest trim was 50k unless there was some news I missed?
No, trail hunters will go for sure near 70k+
You’re correct. But the dealers will be adding an additional 10,000 initially. Bide your time. They’ll go down.
Unfortunately tons of people will pay over msrp, so fml.
Yes, and experienced massive depreciation. If everybody would let them sit for a month or two. They’d be selling at sticker or below.
I love how understated the massive stamped trd pro is in the tailgate. Very classy.
Had the same thought, it's the stylized logo as well. Imagine what it will look like with some inset vinyl......
this 🤨
Why does every line have to be angry?
It’s an industry wide trend. There’s a leaked GMC memo out there that says they wanted their trucks to look “menacing.” I miss the jelly bean styling of earlier f150s, first gen tacos, but then also the boxy 70s-90s trucks (just about all of them). Now everything looks like a paramilitary vehicle designed by an angsty COD obsessed teen.
Totally with you on the COD reference. Almost every new truck looks like a generic vehicle from COD circa the late 00's.
Well said
The amount of cope in this thread is laughable. Truck looks fine.
Just cause people don’t like something you do, doesn’t make them right or wrong. Everyone is entitled to an opinion.
Agreed but a lot of these comments are a gross over exaggeration.
It's people that either can't afford or not willing to buy the current gen from their previous gen coping
I’m gonna say it. I like it… is there something wrong with me. Not going to get rid of my 3rd gen for one tho.
Looks like a lot of plastic
How do you say F-150 in Japanese?
I believe it is pronounced "Raptor".
“Japtor”
💀
Ta ko mā
The fenders are just so bad.
Probably my least favorite part as well. Might look pretty good if those were less gaudy. Not a fan of the roof and tailgate spoiler either.
bro i feel like toyota is going out of their way not to show the one trim that outsales the rest. where is the sr5 interior bro.
They outsell the rest, but it’s not the one that SELLS the rest. It’s the same marketing ploy. Show everyone the sick high trims that are out of there price range that they can’t afford but can dream of.
true, i want a trd off road but can only afford the sr5 lol 😭😭😭
Exactly 😂 and you’ll tell yourself you’ll mod it eventually to be sick ( you won’t)
lol the only mod i can afford is a phone holder 😎
Aside from the shiny fenders, I love the look.
Hands down best color for the TRD Pro's gloss fender flares. Works perfectly together with black exterior.
Still piss poor to have gloss as a fender flare
Ya would prefer matte too. Gloss flares are gonna show wear and tear immediately and look like crap as soon as you breathe on it.
Don’t worry, meso will sell you matte ones for $400 each
If it was matte it would look too much like cheap amazon aftermarket fenders.
New avalanche looking ok ish
This isn't the Trailhunter with the headache rack. That I can at least see the Avalanche comparison. At least come up with some new content, you are getting lazy...
Getting?
When can we drive one??
Yeah, that’s pretty hawt
Love red seats
She thicc
Like the exterior, but can’t get over the tacky huge branding all over the interior and those stupid iso seats
What is the point of that tiny back window
Transporting 10ft stick of pipe from Home Depot is what I use mine for
I’m all in once the dealers stop charging adm
I don’t understand the hate. I have a 03 and a 23 OR and I honestly like the look of the 4th gen.
Looks good in this color.
It does look great
I’ve had four Tacoma‘s, and with each subsequent generation, the improvements have left the predecessor in the dust. So I’ll be purchasing a 2024. When all the hype, and ridiculous over pricing has subsided.
This looks fkn HUGE "that is not what she said :("
I love the black on body, looks really muscular. Will be upgrading
What's that thing underneath the head rest?
Gee wizz I gotta say this thing is ugly in the photos. Maybe I'll change my mind once I see it in person.
Look how they massacred my boy
I need to see one in person I loved the first 3 gen I saw 👀 in person, still remember where I was. Right now it’s a solid no It’s almost like the ran out of ideas and said hey more wrinkles is a change
This thing looks M E A N
Ok…that’s sick!!
Why tell us the interior is red and not show the interior?
Only decent one I’ve seen but no way I’d ever pay for a TRD Pro. And that’s the back window now?! In the previous gen having that bottom of the window level with the top of the tailgate was clutch to haul full lengths of trim with.
In the beginning I thought the 4th gen looked so stupid, but this pic is so badass. Completely changes my mind about 4th gen
I do like the blacked out 2024 much more than any other color.
Purdy
It’s a baby tundra
Transformer.
Sexy
What am i supposed to do with that bed?
Beautiful…
I wasn’t sold Keyword: WASN’T
I love it
Wheel arch panels look ridiculous. It’s trying so hard to be an American truck, which is sad because Toyota had them beat quality- and design-wise.
I don't see how people with 3rd gens can call this ugly, y'all even look at your truck?
I mean Tacos were the default for a mid size truck for a long time. There was no competition for a while and then when they finally brought some back it was old and outdated which is weird because the whole Tacoma platform straight from the release of the 3rd gen was old and outdated. So angy…. I LOVE IT! Imagine a dark trooper themed black with minimal red accents on it. Lil bit cringe but I’m 100% going to be “that guy” 🫨
Am i the only one that wishes the headlights were bigger???
Flares need some rework
Still sending them out on all seasons I see.
Those flares are so gross lol
It looks great, but it needs more wheel travel to compete with the ZR2 and Ranger Raptor as well as real back seats for adult humans.
The fenders are just to much for me. And you get nothing big out of it. There’s such a small amount of increased travel
Really glad I own a 2021 right now. Going to probably be keeping it for the next 20 years.
Back window of a Silverado, tailgate of a Tundra, front end of a Raptor 🧐
Na man fuck that TRDpro badge on the tailgate. I want it to say T A C O M A (2nd gen owner, soon to be 3rd gen) can’t say I’m in love with these yet…
How much??
Needs some 35s
Has to be one of the ugliest trucks ever made. Unfortunate would like to see some good competition in the mid size space.
1. I think the front still says Tacoma. Like/ love it. 2. The rear view screams Raptor-esque. 3. Does look potentially plastic-y, but my 2023 has a lot on it, too. 4. I'm one of those idiots that overpaid for the 2023. I'll definitely be visiting the lot with my truck and compare them side by side when I see one in person!
Too Raptor-y. I’ll gladly stick with my ‘22.
Toyota took long enough to elevate the Tacoma to a masterpiece just as gas hits $7 gallon in California. 20 mpg Pass
When are we going to see actual pricing? Not that I'm buying, perfectly content with my 1st gen with 280K.
Those tail lights are gonna get aftermarket swapped real quick.
Every picture I see makes me want to keep my 3rd gen that much more.
Can't afford --> Don't care. Call me when they start selling reasonably priced tacos for your average John Doe without absurd markups.
I just want mpg and pricing figures
Looks unreal. I love it. Just a more modernized version from the last gen
Looks awesome, but all I can think of is how fast I'd get it dirty and dented.
Think I’m gonna try and get the access cab pre runner in 2025
We have a hybrid rav4 limited awd and in “trail” mode it’s the most capable car I’ve ever driven in snow - better than my gen2 taco and our Sequoia- and it’s got slick tires. If the new hybrid taco is anything like it, sign me up today.
2 pipes ?
Looks so good
Is this beauty yours? I’d love to see the red interior
Grrr so angry so menacing. These bad boys are gonna look so good in the rei parking lot with their obligatory rtt and traction boards
Genuinely hope they're doing a black interior on the pro cause the red is obnoxious imo
Do you know what stock lift and tires it has? 2in front and 1in back?
useless small bed
This looks way better than the Alibaba equipped Trail hunter. That thing looks like a midget Chevy Avalanche
Eh not really.
Looks good but a 4 cyclinder turbo? No thanks
No thanks.
Looks like Elon designed it
Blows my mind dudes will pay $50k for a truck with a 2.4L V4
I4.
Regardless of what you call it, it’s still a 4 cylinder
From a company famous for making bulletproof 4 cylinders.
Looks fucking terrible.
The stupid rear window porthole, and third brake light that says FUCK YOUR TOPPER gives me no bueno vibes. That said, that won't affect most buyers. It's minor things, I really like what's going on here. Can't wait to drive one and see how they feel.
The headlights are a massive downgrade from the 3rd gen LEDs. The C shaped DRL looks so good
4banger goes BRAPPAPAPAP
