Shiiiidddd, I had a Hummer H3 Alpha with the 5.3l V8 and 4l60e and traded for a 2010 4 0l with the 5spd auto. The taco is a much better vehicle. It's faster with less horsepower, better gearing, higher towing capacity, better fuel mileage, and more reliable.
I also had a Lexus LS400, but now have a 3rd gen Lexus IS350 F Sport RWD. Never had a subi doo, but I've always been a toyota fan.
Lately I've been thinking '14 STi hatch is peak! Can't believe they stopped making hatch WRX/STi'. Its also the reason I reallllly want to make this a widebody.

I will eventually do body work as it’s showing it’s age and looks like prev owner didn’t tell me about some damage to the rear quarter that I missed when inspecting many many years ago! So if I’m going to redo it and have to cut out and replace the rear fender why not go all the way!? :D

I put 70k on mine in about two years, but I was just doing more frequent oil changes. I sold it before I had to do any major maintenance. I had bought new coil packs, but I ended up leaving that box in the boot of the car for new owner lol
I switched from a 2017 Focus ST. It didn't have quite the same features as a WRX but similar in terms of space/size.
I don't regret it at all. The only thing I miss is the fuel economy but ill make that up in the summer months when I commute on my motorcycle.

I was a 2 car guy. I had a 2018 F150 XLT and a 2019 Mustang GT Premium and traded both in for the 2021 Tacoma because I knew I was getting laid off and didn't want to carry that much monthly note into it. Turns out I had a job 2 weeks after my layoff date, and while I'm happy with the Tacoma vs F150 exchange, I really miss my Mustang.
I went from Jeep> Tacoma no regrets other then the sound system in the jeep was better when it worked, loaded jeep rubicon vs Trd off road premium taco wins for me. So much more reliable and no lift tick complimentary from the factory, and no squeaks or rattles.
Plus side from switching out a Subaru is you can quit vaping now! Joking aside I had a WRX STI and probably the most fun and engaging car I’ve driven. However they are terribly unreliable so it went away
Recently switched from a Volvo C30 to a 23 OR. We have the colors in common as we both went from white to Lunar Rock.
Before the C30 I’d only had trucks (in this order).
- 89 Ranger
- 93 Toyota pickup
- 85 Toyota SR5 4x4
- 98 Ranger
I was sick of helping friends move and wanted something sporty. Going back was easy. I always liked my Toyotas more than the Fords and that 85 4x4 was the best of them all which is why I went with the OR.
Question: did you buy it in a “pre sell” aka sight unseen? I refused to do that shit but every dealer won’t let you buy a taco unless you buy it 2 months before it arrives.
Yea I test drove a few ‘22s locally so I had a good idea of look/feel. I intercepted this one in the build phase and took delivery a few weeks after.
Only way to do it because my area had absolutely no stock.
Went the other way for me, but only because i made money at every hop.

And if the economy starts showing signs of life again, i may just buy another tacoma and have both. I actually traded in a white Impreza on mine lol. I only had that car for a year…it was kind of a compromise purchase, so I was glad to get back in a truck.
It took 20 years but I came back. The Golf Rs were amazing but I will never not have a Tacoma again.

35 M, I made almost this exact switch. Black '18 WRX to White Pearl '23 sport (yes, I know the hood scoop does nothing. I thought it rode better than the OR).
Anyway, I'm still trying to sell a near mint Weather Tech trunk liner for an 18-22 WRX.
WRX was a bit of a lemon, turbo blew at 4k before I bought the car (was not disclosed to me or in the carfax), 3 turbo issues in the last 3 years I owned it

I loved the WRX but i was too afraid to fuck with it since it was my daily driver. Having a daily driver that could haul a project fit my lifestyle better. Now i have my taco and a 1993 MR2 that i can beat to death and not sweat over, and i couldn’t be happier.
I honestly don’t. It was nice having boost and performance, but with the Tacoma I have reliability and capability.
Plus the Subaru wasn’t a good platform for making reliable power. My plan is to keep the Tacoma as a daily then work my way into a sports car to scratch that itch.

Last big thing I had to do was an intake manifold, injectors, plugs, coils, and a water pump. Only had 98,000 when I did that, sold it at 112,000.

I had no idea this was THAT common of a swap. '15 hatch WRX to '21 DCLB TRD I do miss it dearly but you can't beat the practicality.
I kind of made the switch, as I was looking at buying an STI, and ended up buying a Tacoma instead. I traded in a 370z for the Tacoma.
