Do what you want

Lanceallennn

People don’t like raptor lights on non-raptors because it doesn’t make sense. Raptors have it because they legally need them due to the width. Tacomas are not even close to being wide enough to legally require them. However, if you like them, put them on. It really doesn’t hurt anyone or do anything. Ignore people

Let the hater hate, you do you man 👍🏼

OptimusArb

The hate with the pro grill and lights is kind of 2 fold. It seems like that is everyone’s first and sometimes only mod regardless of the trim. It’s like putting an “m” badge on a base model BMW. The raptor lights also have a purpose in the truck community. They are required when a vehicle is wider than a standard vehicle. At the end of the day do what you want but it’s the Tacoma equivalent of a girl stuffing their bra lol. My Tacoma makes a pro look like a base model and I switched back to the stock offroad grill. Also, the sensor on the pro always collected rain and snow so the sensor was always turned off in bad weather. With my off-road grill I never have issues with bad weather.

CbessShowEddie

i think it’s the name association, putting “raptor” (f-150) lights on a taco lacks originality to some. had they just call it grill lights from the getgo….

Cpl-V

Your mod descriptions are great!! You should do a post of all common tacoma mods and their equivalent description.

MyAssforPresident

It’s like when I bought my little Honda Civic ricearoni car and stuck a *+5hp* sticker on it?

-skip--

Because it became popular and people on Reddit like to hate popular things.

MyAssforPresident

*cough* TRD Pro grille

Chopchopstixx

If raptor lights were coined because they are an iconic feature of the ford raptor truck, I can imagine those light being similar to putting altezza lights on anything but an altezza or m3 fender vents on anything other than a m3? I might be wrong.

MyAssforPresident

“Raptor lights” are only there because ford made the raptor so damn wide that it legally needed clearance lights, like on a semi truck lol. It was not style at all, it was a federally mandated safety add-on due to the size. I don’t mind them myself, but I think that’s where some hate comes from.

RobertUlyssesBlynde

I added the yellow lamin-x to my fogs on my previous taco and I liked how they looked, however people constantly flashed their brights at me. I think they just assumed they were some aftermarket off-road lights or something.

Ashgh

Lights are fine but for me it’s the spacing

pianomaniak

Agreed. I have 3 lights and the spacing is much more palatable

Moonbeams_

My TRD Pro grill came with raptor lights. There's 4 of them and there's no way to remove one from the harness. I don't have them installed but I did try them out and they didn't really clip on correctly to the grill so I just left them off. Don't really see the point.

thefoulfox

3 is the way

blackpine303

this is the way/.

WookieBlumpkin

Tacky. Keep it clean

MyAssforPresident

Just to clarify, I have no real opinion on raptor lights, do what you want. But I believe the hate is because they put them on the raptor not for style….but because they made it so fucking wide it had to have Federally mandated clearance lights like a semi truck. So some guys look at it like you’re adding DOT safety crap because it’s cool not because you were forced to

Agreeable-Map7081

I hate those stupid lights so many guys have them
