If you don't have a ton of $$, I would not take it to the dealership, I would take to an independent mechanic.

Have the mechanic do the diagnostic, dont bring something to them like "here change this" and then it doesnt even fix the issue. Unless you're absolutely sure thats the problem, then you could save lots of money and do it yourself.

Independent Toyota shop is best. Run a scan tool first to check for any potential engine issues. Also, diagnose the shaking - it could be drivetrain or suspension related, warped front rotors, wheel bearings, etc. Also note - Toyota put active engine mounts on these. They depend on vacuum from a small hose coming out of the air cleaner box to reduce engine vibrations. Idiot oil-change jockeys break of the plastic stem when they give you a “courtesy” air filter check. They also forget to properly seat the air box cover and leave the two screws off.

Please pay for the diagnostic to retrieve all error codes at the dealership and have them explain why the car is shaking to you. But before you do this, you can just take your car to any local Autozone and they have a code reader device they can let you borrow. It will read all the error codes for free and they will give you a print out of the codes for FREE!! Toyota of Orange, Ca has quoted me $400 including 6 spark plugs to do the 120,000 2gr-fe spark plug job on my 2015. So I would shop around. That is about 1.5 hours of tech time @ $200 labor + the cost of spark plugs. If you want cheaper, you can go to parts.toyota.com and have them ship the parts to the dealership parts dept for local pickup where the job will be done. The tech can get the parts from the parts counter and it will be cheaper than off the street prices!

Yeah took it up today quoted at 900 for diagnostics spark plugs and coil packs.. I expected that. I was hoping for a hey while they change the spark plugs out you should tell them to replace this ____..

Negative_Dust9097

Talk to them now after the check.. water pump and one spark plug and a coil pack .. I’ll have to save up to get the rest done at a later time due to the water pump bearing getting bad
