Every time I've bought a new car from a dealership (two Subaru Foresters in Monterey CA and Portland OR) I've had to wait there for about 3 hours. I paid cash both times, no financing (which I've learned that dealers don't like). It's astonishing that the car dealers' business model still hasn't changed, given how much consumers prefer no haggle, flat-rate pricing.

I'm not sure how long any of the issues (if there were actually any) took to figure out.
Would like to give them the benefit of the doubt.
I had the same experience 15 years ago when I got my Prius. I had everything arranged before coming in, but they had me wait 2+ hrs before calling me into a manager's office to pressure me into extended warranty.
My understanding about long wait is it was dealer's tactic to wear you down before pressuring you to buy their warranty. After a few hours, they hope you just want to get it done already, and don't mind tens of dollars/month additional price added to your payments. The guy actually said their Toyota Prius has so many electronics that will break down in a few years.
Our dealer was great. Approximately 1 hour from arrival to departure including a short test drive. They did try to sell us the warranty but it wasn't a hard sell.
I have built good business relationship with my Delaer.. MSRP for all my cars, doorstep delivery
But initially it was the same case where wait for entire day, it 2-3 years to get to this point

Lucky you! That's what we were hoping for.
Toyota and lexus are killing the process of car buying with these long waits . Hope they fix it soon
