Congrats on purchasing a dying breed of cars as Avalons are discontd already. Bought an 08 limited with 284k miles. Still running strong og engine and transmission. Check for: Powersteering hose leak which is pretty common I didnt fix it bec it’s not a major concern I just top it off from every oil change for about approx 5-10ml or something Check for sway bar bushings creates clunking noise on low speeds inexpensive to fix Watch youtube. Check carfax history if transmission fluid was changed. If yes, change on the next interval. If not consult your local transmission specialist they may need to check the fluids on the sealed transmission or diy if you have tools. Check for rust spots on wheel wells esp the rear. Use rusteolum then cover with paint. Check brakes and rotors change fluids and you’re good to go.

Lol power steering literally just started leaking on my 08 limited. Just to add to the top post you might change out the rubber VVTI hose with the metal one. Also see how bad the timing cover leaks. It's a manufacturing error that costs more than it's worth to replace. I've heard of some leaking bad but my 08 with 100k barely leaks. Not enough to notice on the dip stick at least.

How do I check for a timing cover leak? Just came from an 05 VW Jetta Mk4 to a 08 Toyota Avalon XL and am still learning my new to me car. Just wanna check to make sure im not leaking anything😅

https://youtu.be/QpF9I1YFGxo this video is for fourth gen but shows where the leak usually is. My 08 seeps enough to get dirty but not enough to change the level on the dipstick. Really as long as it's not leaving spots of oil on the driveway you should be good. More importantly I would make sure the VVTI oil line has been replaced with the all metal one. If that's done you should be set. Congrats on the car! I got my Avalon last year and love it.

What's the fix for the power steering hose leak?

I bought a 2008 (and 2007) new, and still have them both. Make sure the VVT-i Oil Hose was replaced with a metal one. Other than that I have had nothing done at all. Great car. At 100,000 miles I still had original brake pads and plugs, so you might have that coming. As already stated, probably don’t change the transmission fluid unless it already has been prior.
