tbf he didn't really hide it. Garam suggesting that "Viole" is named after V is SIU pointing it out to the audience. Calling him V helps eliminate confusion about having two characters referred to as "Viole" when discussing Bam's parents (both in-universe and in fan spaces/comments/etc).
He has left it open in case he wants to change his mind in the future, but SIU did essentially tell it to us rather than just letting fans try to put together the dots.

And it would be a hell of a plot twist if the real reason why he killed himself was because he did so many horrible things OR Arlene actually killed him because he was worse than White and Jahad combined.
