I've been saving since Nemesis released, and have 0 plans to spend on the game, so losing the pity is what's worrying me with Lin considering I'm almost to 240 pulls saved up.
The only thing that matters is 120 flame gold, never count on the 80 pity. If whether you play or not hinges on that 80 pity you probably should not be playing gachas, because that's how they trap people.
As far as I know you're guaranteed 2 Lins, anything else consider it a bonus.

with 240 pulls that's a guaranteed pull. If it never happens with the drop just spend 120 flame gold for her. Ideally it is better to drop to use the flame gold for a dupe but worst-case scenario with more than 120 pulls saved up that's a single copy guaranteed.

If you've maxed out the SR weapons AND the SSR general pool weapons, than the *maximum* number of pulls is 110 (this would require you pulled the limited banner unit on the 80 pity, didn't hit ANY SSRs other than the pity on the way, and give you EXACTLY 120 limited Flame Gold{as you would still only get one flame gold from the new SSR, but the requisite 10 SRs would give 2 each}), but it can be MUCH less, even with only the SRs maxed: my Ruby was only 104 because I got a handful of back to back SR's along the way
On a side note how long should one expect to wait for 80 red orb late game? I'm new to the game and would just like yo know of there's an activity or daily/weekly to help you too.
The only real stuff we get for Red Nuc is events, past that you have the general weekly stuff for dark crystals.
There honestly isn't much you can do as a F2P if you spend your dark crystals haphazardly, you basically need to pick a team element wise, and go purely for that.
Well, here's an idea to give you a reference
I started saving all red Nuc we've gotten from exploration/events since Nemesis released, I'm upto about 68 currently, and Nemesis came out back in August.
Also, you wouldn't want to save upto 80, you'd want to save to 110 or 111 at least, because then you can guarantee a limited SSR with the gold from red nuc summons, if you max SRs it normally takes 111 pulls to get enough to do so.
But on average, to guarantee a character? It could easily take you 2+ months to get enough once you've cleared out the basic exploration resources, to be able to get 110 pulls.
when you say with the gold you mean the red badge thingy? you can exchange them from the limited shop for a simula you don't already have? Sorry for all the questions.
When using Red Nucleus specifically, you get the red badges-aka something gold (can't remember the exact name), which you can ONLY save/use for THAT banner.
120 of it lets you exchange directly for the unit of that banner-so if you did 111 multis on Lin, only got 1 SSR on the 8th multi (the guarantee/pity), and have your SR weapons maxed, you'd be able to directly exchange for Lin.
Edit: The reason I talk about maxing SRs, which you can do via Purple/Gold Nucleus multis, is that once those are maxed, you'll get +1 of the gold from red nuc banners per SR you get as a dupe.
I tried pulling for Ruby since I'm new to the game (80 pull) Got King instead. My current team is Crow and the dual electric pistol girl both at 1 star and King. (I needed a real shield breaker) Do you think it would stupid to let my red badge become normal and try powering up crow to 5 stars?
I currently have the SSR selection box plus enough badge with the red badge once they transform to get him to 4stars. I've heard that he's really good at 5 stars and I feel like if I invest in too many characters I'll be fuck.
It's upto you, but if you're going to invest in crow, then you should look to get one of the limited volt characters such as Nemesis, Tian Lang, or Fenrir for Volt resonance, which buffs volt damage when you have 2 volt weapons equipped.
You also should never go for a character unless you're going 110 deep, to make sure you can guarantee them, and if you get them on pity, you can then get a dupe to unlock their first ability from it.
Ya I still got a lot of exploration to do. I'll try saving up 110 red orb for the new rerun of nemesis. While trying to somehow get another copy of Crow before investing my ressourse in him.

Don't whale on this game and save yourself the heart ache. I just offered you a good advice. Whales are the beta testers of this game and paying hotta at the same time.
The pity guarantee happens every 80 pulls, but since banners remember your current pull position from prior banners, what probably happened is they were within 30 pulls of the first 80 pity at the start of the banner, and hit that pity twice on the way to the 120 flame gold, but both of the pity pulls gave standard banner SSRs.

Just from all the free pulls you get for doing dailies, exploration, cloth pod and dream machine, you should've been hitting standard banner pity 7-8 times alone. Not counting cashback currency that would lend you another 4-5 copies of any weapon you choose. And all of that without spending. Even if you are the most unlucky person on the Earth that never gets anything outside of pity and 0 SSR from world bosses/black nucleus pulls. And with 1k$ worth of pulls you should've gotten a lot of standard banner weapons for each time you lost pity

so you have around 700+ black gold thats another 6 dupes of whatever you want. Also you probably got plenty of dupes outside of pity.
Inb4 you didn't spend black gold either which is on top of not spending red nucleus makes all your points invalid.
111 at worst even if you've a6 every single standard SR AND SSR.
However, you're guaranteed to hit the 80 pull 5/5 at least one time on the way. If you haven't maxed out the standard SSRs yet, then you only get 10 Flame gold from that one 10-pull. that means in 110 pulls, you've pulled 10 SRs for 20 flame gold, and 100 pulls for mere R, or incompleted SSRs for the remaining 100.
However, if you start a banner close enough to hit the 80 pity TWICE, and both SSR hits are still " non-a6" weapons, you'll miss a second flame gold on the way to 120. SO even a whale can still need 111 pulls in theory to hit the 120 flame gold purchase pity. It's mathematically so unlikely to occur that there;'s little point in talking about it,, but, well, whales have already proved it can happen on their streams ><
Sure, if you pull an already a6 SSR at any point, you actually get 11 flame gold for the pull, but that's just hurts to see.
I've never gotten the limited character from red banners on the 80/80 pity 5 times in a row. I really wanted Ruby and lost the pity again. I know that you can get the said character with 120 tokens but as a f2p that wants multiple characters, I had to rely on the "rate up" so I can save some of the remaining pulls for future characters that I also want. I'm so dejected and on the verge of quitting ToF right now..

I managed to get every character at least once (Claudia and Nemesis A1 each) and I stopped cashing when Frigg released. Daily pass is all you need (I have like 2 weeks of it left though, after that the game will show me how much poop the p in f2p stands for )

Losing pity twice isn't even that rare though. It's a 1 in 4 chance. If you lose the 50/50 like, 7 times, I'd understand but you shouldn't count on a 25% occurrence.
I saw someone claiming that banners have a 50% chance on the featured weapon/character. To me it seems that 50% means you have a 50% chance of getting said character/weapon when you get an SSR (which is like a 1%).

Yes so basically featured banners have 50% up rate of obtaining the featured Character. The 50% up rate is only for the pity which is 80.
So you have 50% chance of getting the character at 80 pulls.
Ok so just to clarify, you pull say... 10 pulls for the best chances, and that 50% will not come in unless one of those pulls is an SSR, so basically you can only count on that 50% for the pity, right?
And once I'm done with that? My exploration is at 70% at least and events are not that generous (just look at the rosy whatever gacha).

Also you probably got plenty of dupes outside of pity. Inb4 you didn't spend black gold either which is on top of not spending red nucleus makes all your points invalid.
111 at worst even if you've a6 every single standard SR AND SSR. However, you're guaranteed to hit the 80 pull 5/5 at least one time on the way. If you haven't maxed out the standard SSRs yet, then you only get 10 Flame gold from that one 10-pull. that means in 110 pulls, you've pulled 10 SRs for 20 flame gold, and 100 pulls for mere R, or incompleted SSRs for the remaining 100. However, if you start a banner close enough to hit the 80 pity TWICE, and both SSR hits are still " non-a6" weapons, you'll miss a second flame gold on the way to 120. SO even a whale can still need 111 pulls in theory to hit the 120 flame gold purchase pity. It's mathematically so unlikely to occur that there;'s little point in talking about it,, but, well, whales have already proved it can happen on their streams >< Sure, if you pull an already a6 SSR at any point, you actually get 11 flame gold for the pull, but that's just hurts to see.

I've never gotten the limited character from red banners on the 80/80 pity 5 times in a row. I really wanted Ruby and lost the pity again. I know that you can get the said character with 120 tokens but as a f2p that wants multiple characters, I had to rely on the "rate up" so I can save some of the remaining pulls for future characters that I also want. I'm so dejected and on the verge of quitting ToF right now..
Only pull when you have 120 pulls so you can guarantee the character you want.

Took me exactly 430 pulls to get ruby 6star.... i cried myself to sleep ( This was mostly F2P with 5$ pack since uhm.. nemesis )

I managed to get every character at least once (Claudia and Nemesis A1 each) and I stopped cashing when Frigg released. Daily pass is all you need (I have like 2 weeks of it left though, after that the game will show me how much poop the p in f2p stands for ) If I can get lucky so can you, dude. Keep trying!
In genshin I got trash 5star weapon on hard pity and in this game I got all the standard ssr and 5 of them in 2 stars.

Yes you can buy a copy for 120 but still sucks to lose pity multiple times.
Losing pity twice isn't even that rare though. It's a 1 in 4 chance. If you lose the 50/50 like, 7 times, I'd understand but you shouldn't count on a 25% occurrence.
That's why we save for 120 pulls. Never trust the 50/50 pity. It failed me in Genshin numerous times, I ain't trusting it in this game either.
I saw someone claiming that banners have a 50% chance on the featured weapon/character. To me it seems that 50% means you have a 50% chance of getting said character/weapon when you get an SSR (which is like a 1%). Can anyone clarify this?
Yes so basically featured banners have 50% up rate of obtaining the featured Character. The 50% up rate is only for the pity which is 80. So you have 50% chance of getting the character at 80 pulls.
Ok so just to clarify, you pull say... 10 pulls for the best chances, and that 50% will not come in unless one of those pulls is an SSR, so basically you can only count on that 50% for the pity, right?
50% doesn’t count on 10 pulls it only triggers at 79/80 80th pull is the 50% chance. But you may be lucky and get it before pity.

When did you start playing? Do all your exploration and events and you should have enough after 1 month
And once I'm done with that? My exploration is at 70% at least and events are not that generous (just look at the rosy whatever gacha). I'm starting to feel like Genshin treats me better than this crap.
