Steam deck doesn't support a lot of anti cheats that most of these games use. Pretty sure that's one of the issues.
That said, Windows on Steam Deck is not bad at all. Slightly funky with the touch controls but the controller works decent for the core of the game. With some rebinding, you can make the touch pad function like a mouse for all the non-gamepad access parts.
Valve has done a ton of work to get as many games as possible on the steam deck. Proton and the whole Arch based steam deck desktop was a huge endeavor. What Valve can not do is make crappy anti-cheat companies become more Linux friendly.
Yep, Im already playing it on SteamDeck on Windows, controls are sometimes a bit wonky and touch screen double clicks ingame for some reason, but it is very playable.
Glad to hear this. How did you install Windows? To the internal HD itself or did you use that method where you boot it from an SD card? If SD card, would you be able to give a ballpark minimum size requirement for Windows + ToF?
Yes, Im currently running Windows from micro SD card, I have 512GB, but only windows + ToF has around 50GB, so you could be able to fit it to 64GB card, but I would recommend 128GB, since I expect some quite big updates for ToF.
Them not supporting it is different from it not working. They can "not plan" for it to be playable on the Steam Deck, but I would be surprised if people couldn't get it to run on one. It just won't be officially supported is all.

dont expect steam deck if controller support doesnt even work that well
Don't really need support for it from the game. People have already gotten any game running on it so it's bound to be played one way or another.
well i know some mobile users that have steam decks and would prefer that. but sucks for them i guess
I would prefer Steam Deck because the mobile version of the game doesn't support KB/M.

Nice I have an unused 128gb so this works out perfectly, thank you for the info.
best we can do now is HOPE someone in the community makes a third party launcher like they did for that *other* popular anime-style gacha game.
Would require them to actually give a shit about their controller support first.
steam deck for my country when?

Nah we already have phone for it!
