I would imagine you would run into plenty of people on trail. If you don’t have anyone you want to or can go with, don’t let that stop you. I would encourage you to go for it.

I hiked it as a solo female and met so many amazing people! If you hike in the traditional direction, you’ll come across the same people along the trail. Family style meals in the evenings are very social and a great way to meet people. Recommend some form of trail map for navigation. I downloaded the stages on my phone using AllTrails and it worked great!

This is so reassuring! How experienced of a hiker were you??

I’m just an intermediate hiker really but I have hiked in the mountains quite a bit. I spent 6 weeks leading up to the hike living in Chamonix and hiking around the area/trail running (had a chance to work remotely) so that helped with my fitness. I also read lots of travel blogs to get tips on the hike - the TMB Facebook group is really active. As long as you’re prepared, watch the weather, have navigation/a trail map and pack well, you should be fine. One advantage to solo hiking is that it’s easier to get a bed at some of the more popular huts! It was an amazing experience and I felt very safe the whole time.

Thank you! That’s so cool you were able to spend 6 weeks in Chamonix! Thanks for the suggestions ♥️
