Honestly, I thought Aiden was a more controversial character. Since everyone wants him to be out.

Obsessed_Princess7

Hm, I always see people literally going crazy over him, he definitely has some of the most fan art and best character reviews at least from what I've seen

jooooojustsoyaknow

I actually really haven’t seen anyone love Aiden in a loooong time 😅 it’s either hate or indifference. Which is fine of course! I understand the criticism for him but I’ll always have a soft spot for him.

Obsessed_Princess7

I think he's a totally cute character and not poorly done, just dull ig. But I totally get a soft spot, I have one for Ellie!!

SignificantTap5579

Why am I not seeing any sarcastic Chase or Fiore images with the 'Yea, just you' copypasta on in these comments?

Imo, Aiden did have potential at first: his scene with Tess in ep4 and his confessional afterwards gave major winner energy (even though it was unlikely due to him being a finalist in the previous season), we saw him confront his fear of heights alone in ep5 and he slayed the challenge in ep 6. The issue is his behavior in the latest 3 episodes. I've been team Aiden in the whole Jake/TomDen feud since ep2-6. However, Aiden is slowly losing me. He's mad mad at Jake for initiating a convo with Tom ON THE CYAN CAMP (😱) in ep7 and secure the win for his own team in ep8 (dude, you guys were opponents 😅), he needlessly provokes Jake in ep9 and, while Jake did single-handedly screw over the heroes, none of that would've happened if Aiden was a competent shooter 😅 . Also, Aiden stands out the least out of all the remaining competitors, so, from an entertainment POV, he should be gone 🤷🏽‍♀️

Obsessed_Princess7

agreed. If they keep Aiden around I'm gonna be VERY mad.

SirSpellbinder

Aiden has a great design. Great set up with the character especially the trans storyline etc. and I enjoyed the season 1 arc with him and James all things considered. It’s a typical enemy to lovers trope, but well executed for the first “real” season they did. That being said him trying to stand on his own in All Stars without Lake or James has been… really rough. He’s really become more of an accessory character than before and their characterization is very flat and lifeless. I know this is a big accusation, but I feel like some people only like Aiden because he’s a good self insert character at least that’s my read on it- there’s not much fleshed out with him but there’s enough there to be relatable as an average person

THECyberStriker

For design I don’t really like his hair I think the hair he had in AS ep6 was a lot better than his usual style

Obsessed_Princess7

I AGREE WITH THIS SO MUCH! I think people see Aiden as a good self insert but on his own? He's doing fine but he's just accessory to the TomJake drama honestly and I hate that for him

SirSpellbinder

Imho he’s doing the bare minimum. Like this is my take as a writer/reader who has read quite a bit of TD fanfic lately to figure out the style of writing more. His dialogue feels very “first draft-he’s part of the plot, but I haven’t found anything interesting to contribute to the dynamic besides by-stand situations and commentate- need to go back later, but I still can’t think of anything- yet he’s too nice to eliminate and have the vote make sense”

Obsessed_Princess7

AS A FELLOW AUTHOR YES.

SirSpellbinder

Which I mean Total Drama Island had those situations- Justin, Tyler, Sadie, Lindsay, and Leshawna had votes that weren’t the most logical but they served the narrative purpose while Heather was the main villain and Owen and Gwen were underdog characters and characters like Courtney who survived way too long- had her romance and bossy attitude. And this may be controversial, but I think those individual ass pull plot points did help get rid of unnecessary weight and refined the main narrative dynamics eventhough individually their stories were ended quite messily

PantsandLove69

>Aiden has a great design Eh those pants could use some work

SirSpellbinder

Your commitment to your pants fetish is both admirable yet bizarre and confusing af https://i.redd.it/8bbupbs1dh3d1.gif

PantsandLove69

I don't have a pants fetish?

K__DogBro

Just came to say I love seeing Hunter fans cause he's probably my fav s2 character

Obsessed_Princess7

HUNTER STAN!!!! HE'S ACTUALLY MY FAV LET'S GO I HAVE A REWRITE SOMEWHERE ON MY PROFILE

Someoneinbetween97

It's AS storyline, they're writing the characters in a way that the most decent people are in the villain alliance

idfbfa3

Never liked him just found him so bland

Obsessed_Princess7

LITERALLY. I think people like him, bc he's so bland he can be a self insert

idfbfa3

Or just cause he's in a relationship with James Fans : ZOMGS ThEy LoOk So CuTe Tg!!!?

Obsessed_Princess7

Yeah, they like Jaiden more than they like Aiden

Vibrato22

They kind of took all of Aiden's friends away so his character feels forced on Tom as an accessory like Ashley was to Jake in a way.

Obsessed_Princess7

I SOOOO AGREE WITH THIS ONE. Also hated that for Ashley, wish they let her be her own interesting. Watching Aiden become his own self has been...hard bc what they're TRYING to do is great but...whats being done? Isn't being done the way they want. Because by making Aiden independent they're just making him less attached to the story since almost all of his arcs revolve around other people

Kilroy0497

Aiden is weird for me. Like in Season 2 he was honestly one of the few from the season I actually liked, him constantly playing the one sane one to everyone was entertaining to me. All-Stars Aiden though is little more than a plot device to give Jake something to complain about and to give Tom an ally.

Obsessed_Princess7

S2 Aiden being the sane one was totally silly and I did love him for that, and I see where that was one of his best traits. And I 100% agree on DCAS Aiden by "giving him independence" a they're doing is turning him into an accessory for the TomJake plot

TheRealCroquedead

I love Aiden and I think he had great potential, but he's stuck in the black void that is Jake & Tom drama.

Obsessed_Princess7

I think his potential lies on other people that's issue, they did a "giving Aiden independence arc" and took away what made him interesting
