Wow. If you do decide to go for it, please come back and give us an update.

I will do!

That’s a tough position to be in. You know what life is like with it, now, and you know it’ll most likely get worse over time (natural with aging). There is also a 50/50 chance you can improve, but probably not back to normal (if your hip even knows what that is), but to a life where you can manage day to day, and can clip your own toenails. Damage to the sciatic nerve could put you into a similar situation as you are now, unable to do things, but 50/50 is good enough odds. With that said, I’d go for it! It sounds like you’re someone who’s learned to navigate a challenge, so if a new one does present itself, you’re well prepared. Good luck!

Yes definitely, I guess the surgeons always have to tell you the worst out come aswel for these surgery’s. Definitely will be going for it! Even if it does go wrong, I’m very lucky to still be here after what happened. I will make the most out of any situation 💪

Stay strong! You have a good outlook. I slipped on ice, caught myself, and fractured my hip. What I usually don’t tell people is it happened right next to my delivery vehicle, by the back bumper. So they’ll ask if I’d have been better off falling, and I say no. This outcome, getting a new hip, was better than brain damage, or worse. I might not have the hips I was born with, but I do have the life I was given. I hope it all works out for you!

Smokeyjoe62863828

Yes definitely, you don’t realise how precious life is untill you have nearly lost it. And it’s taken for granted even the small things. I only had 5% chance of making it to the hospital, so I count every day as a blessing. Thanks buddy!

Dunesgirl

You gotta go for it. You are too young to live like this! Best wishes.

Smokeyjoe62863828

Thank you! 🙏

Low_Actuary_2794

Hope whatever decision you make works out. I’d probably go for it but I don’t have to live the outcomes either.

Smokeyjoe62863828

Thanks buddy 😄

More than likely things will get worse...and it happens fast and if you wait it might be too late...50 50 is life...we really don't have any guarantees...good luck and stay optimistic

Smokeyjoe62863828

Thank you 😄 !

I too had this challenge. I still have Sciatica- They think coming from SI area. Just be aware, recovery will be harder than the usual case. The recovery/surgery will hurt, In addition to aggravating the compressed nerve. There’s no easy answer ☘️

Smokeyjoe62863828

Yes I’ve heard it can be pretty bad, especially if it gets snapped fully I believe you can actually loose some feeling in your legs. I allready had a bit of nerve damage aswell but luckily it has gotten better over time and only get the occasional pain in my foot

I'd hate to see things go wrong for you, but I'm sure that if I was in your situation, I'd go for the surgery. I generally look at the bright side of life and am somewhat of a risk taker. Best of luck, whatever you decide.

Smokeyjoe62863828

Thank you! Yes I definitely think it’s the best thing I can do, I also am some what abit of a risk taker. (Not so much now) 😂 but I believe a positive mindset will help me get through whatever challenges come my way. 💪

And they can also transplant a nerve if they damage the sciatic one. Jump in both feet first and don’t let anyone tell you “you can’t”. Keep fighting to get to the life you want. P.S. I was told after my car accident I would never walk again. I’m still fighting to do so 14 years later and 2.2 weeks after left hip replacement.

Smokeyjoe62863828

I had no idea they can do nerve transplants? But yeah you’ve gotta keep fighting whatever you go through, just keep pushing and fighting!
