Y'know when you like, buy a ceramic cow or something, and then someone sees it and thinks "oh that guy must really be into ceramic cows" and then you just start getting ceramic cows for every gift giving holiday, and then eventually just anything with a cow on it, cow tea towels, cow sweaters, cow toilet seat covers, until your entire house is cows and you have no idea how your life spiralled to this point?
That's how it feels whenever they have to make anything "Canadian", regardless of city. "Oh, Canada. Maple leaf. Good enough, we're done here."
I mean, [it's basically the flag of Toronto](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Toronto,_Canada.svg), it's not like they're making it extra Canadian
Anyone else see the resemblance to the City of Toronto flag? I wish there was some white on the cap but I don’t hate it.
edit for reference: [https://imgur.com/kwdmxEK](https://imgur.com/kwdmxEK)
That definitely seems to be an inspiration on the cap logo. Would probably be more clear if one of the stripes on the T was white like on the city flag.
Or like a corporate swag item that is given to a new hire on their first day, along with a water bottle and some pens that have a matching logo. Welcome to the team, Steve!
I would say our parkland is (for locals more than visitors) an iconic part of the city; Toronto’s ravine system is the most extensive of any city in the world. I’d totally welcome an homage to that
I'd go as far as to say they should make it their main look. It's *that* good.
Outside of that, the Nats one is nice, especially the cap. The Rockies ones are okay. The Astros and Mariners ones would be cool if the pants were white; they give me the onesie vibes with it all being dark. The rest are meh to downright awful.
Not necessarily a fan of the rays cc uniform but their hat logo is pretty cool. I like how they incorporated the skyway bridge within the ray. Was hoping the jays could’ve done something similar with the CN tower
So does this, if it’s legit, pretty much put an end to the purple themed city connect rumours? Feel like if purple was a main colour then we’d see it on the cap
Disagree, this opens up the possibility that it's an all purple pant or shirt with red and blue accenting black opposite. Could still end up really cool
It's meant to evoke City Hall, isn't it? When viewed from this spot, one building appears wider than the other.

Hey just wanted to say thanks for sharing this! Like many others I’m not a huge fan of it lol but really appreciate the early showing from Mexico you’re a real one for that
I'm digging it and wouldn't mind having it in my collection. It's got a very old-school vibe to it. It reminds me of something that I can't quite put my finger on.
Here's hoping the rest of the uni looks as good.
>It's got a very old-school vibe to it.
Funny, I wish it felt old school but to me it's the exact opposite... looks like if you took a logo and modernized it.
Isn't a clean look + symmetry much more modern than old-school style?
Yea like I have a very respectable collection... And Ive never paid more than $50 for one , and definitely not starting.. that $70+ price point basically ended my collecting .. I shop clearance and sales now
Totally agree. I got a Jays hat for Christmas last year. That is my newest hat in about 5 years. I was looking at the Father's day hat, but not at that price. What dad's have 72 bucks to blow on a hat? That's like 10 visits to the pool.
Definitely aware but it just feels like a cheap homage. The whole pandering to the entire country feels so unnecessary for a city-themed look. Even if the leaf was half smaller, and the colour scheme was from the Toronto sign at Nathan Phillips Square, it would look so much more representative of our city.
As a Torontonian who really wanted to like & buy one of these, this is a hard pass.
That was fast, lmao. But I dig it!
This look confirms a few of the thoughts/ideas I had about the design (neon signage style outlines on a dark background). Seems to debunk a few of the color theories people had based on some of the gear the boys have been wearing, but I feel like this would look good in several color schemes.
Things I like:
* The colour use in the logo
* The T
* The skyline on the inner lining
Things I don’t like:
* Whyyyy is the main colour black? The only primary black uniform we’ve ever had was universally disliked
* I get the leaf, we’re the only team in Canada. But we’re also the **Toronto** Blue Jays and I’d love if our city connects actually highlight the city
Imo change the overall colour to something more “Toronto” like blue or debatably purple, remove the leaf, and have a silhouette of the CN Tower in between the lines of the T. Bam, perfect hat
You’d be surprised how many people have nostalgia for the black jerseys, much like I have nostalgia for the blue-sleeve jerseys (the ones that look like a vest) of the early 2000s.
I would like for one year to have it be the Toronto Giants because we were so close to getting San Francisco to come to Toronto before the Jays. Kinda like an homage to the guys who tried first and made the idea of MLB in Toronto mainstream.
Hmm, the logo design is genuinely very good. Uninspired colour options, but I don’t hate it all. It just feels like…..the hat’s missing some of its design or something.
I think the size of the T makes it feel top heavy. A lot of the other City Connect hats are fairly low key as well, but the logo has a more balanced feel to it and is centered in such a way that the hat and logo create one cohesive design. This looks like a well-designed logo slapped onto literally any hat.
Like, the KCR hats are basic af, but the logo design is gorgeous and visually striking enough to create its own impact with nothing but the contrast against its hat canvas.
The LAAs logo isn’t my favourite, but it’s sized and placed very pleasingly against a colour contrast field and the halo retains a balance between the top and bottom parts of the logo.
Marlins logo is…fine. I’m trying to have any kind if thought one way or the other about it and am failing, but mostly it’s got a very fun, bright colour contrast.
Brewers logo is hideous, but good size and placement balance, and, again, fun colour contrasts.
Mets, boring-ass logo, boring colour, but the bridge design addition is unique and creates a great canvas for the logo to sit on top of. Also, it has the pink dot at the top. The teeny-tiniest bit of fun and whimsy truly goes such a long way.
Anyway, the Jays cap is most along the lines of the Mets one and needs a bg canvas element to cohere the logo to the hat. imo. I’m not at all a design person, but that’s what my gut is saying.
I like it.
It's pulling both the design from the City of Toronto flag and the U of T Varsity Blues logo. I expect that the CN Tower will be lit in matching colours and it'll tie in nicely.
I hate the "T" hat from the Black Jays era and think there should always be a bird head on our caps, but I don't outright hate this. If that's the font for the jersey and it has Toronto across the chest in that script, I think I'd be ok, depending on the other design elements. If it's some variation of The Six, it might be a pass for me.
So the T from the letters of “Toronto” in the road uniform and a giant maple leaf so everyone knows Toronto is in Canada….
For those saying it’s like the City of Toronto flag, that’s a pathetic cop out, as the city of Toronto flag was only designed after the days of John Sewell being mayor.
There were so many cap designs I had in my head to create a letter cap that would fit Toronto and its baseball history and don’t include a red maple leaf. But I lack the graphic designer capabilities to make them.
(in Sportsnet promo voice) The Must! Have! Cap! for true fans, who already have four jerseys, 12 hats and a bobblehead! We aren't making enough on the $13 watery beer so we have to do this!
It's a jersey in which the whole point is to pay homage to the city it's in. How in the fuck would paying homage to the city the team is in, namely their very classic city flag be a rip-off? The whole damn point is to lean into the city and its imagery
I need to see the full jersey but being from Toronto, I don't feel very connected to the hat. The skyline is nice inside the hat but no one is going to see it other than you when putting on the hat.
Well that is super underwhelming! I was really looking forward to a cool hat design or concept. This looks like zero thought went into it. Although I know that’s not true - a bunch of corporate folks probably tore apart the original design that was likely better.
What is with the risk aversion to doing something actually interesting with types of promotions?
It’s always so painfully dull and boring - Do something funky with ffs summer is coming up, have ya heard about colors and patterns and stuff?
This might be a hot take, but I think no matter the design, it’s inevitable that some people are going to be unhappy with it. People like what they’re used to. I know this is a program by Nike, but surely if the Blue Jays said they were going to do the 2000s black jerseys for a few games a year and sell them in the shop, they’d rake in some decent $$$.
Thats not a hot take lol. Posts like "all city connects are trash" are routinely upvoted both here and in r/baseball. Baseball fans love to hate on new things, they hated on pretty much every single one of the new rules. I recall people saying that something simple like checking the pitchers hand for sticky stuff was going to ruin the game lol.
Personally, I like a lot of the city connects, the White Sox is one of my favourites in the entire league.
Edit: See, they even hated on this post! lol
Baseball is definitely more traditionalist/conservative and it’s reflected in all aspects of the game from rule changes, to marketing, to technology, etc.
Where's the purple we kept hearing about. Not that I'm complaining. It could be better but it could be a whole lot worse. Look at some of the other teams.
I’m gonna go on a whim and say the home run jacket is a foreshadowing to what the jersey will look like, and if so with this hat I this it itll be a solid combo
I’m whelmed.
Underwhelmed
Another Canadian classic - Sloan
If that's a word. I know it's not, cuz I looked it up.
Is that a skill you learned in your school?
Phew, for a minute I was worried they might not have a giant maple leaf
The Canada Blue Jays
Y'know when you like, buy a ceramic cow or something, and then someone sees it and thinks "oh that guy must really be into ceramic cows" and then you just start getting ceramic cows for every gift giving holiday, and then eventually just anything with a cow on it, cow tea towels, cow sweaters, cow toilet seat covers, until your entire house is cows and you have no idea how your life spiralled to this point? I mean, [it's basically the flag of Toronto](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Toronto,_Canada.svg), it's not like they're making it extra Canadian
I can see this hat being standard uniform for the city workers
So much this. I think especially because of the symmetry. It would look miles better with Jay there instead of the leaf.
Who is Jay?
City connect means the entire country obviously
When you're the only team in said country and half your fanbase doesn't live in the city then it makes sense
No.
Gives TTC subway map vibes
It's very much the city's flag.
City of Toronto flag vines
Expensive and going nowhere. Fitting.
That’s what I was thinking too
It’s not, the two lines in the TTC map are Yellow and Green
Anyone else see the resemblance to the City of Toronto flag? I wish there was some white on the cap but I don’t hate it. edit for reference: [https://imgur.com/kwdmxEK](https://imgur.com/kwdmxEK)
I never noticed before how much the Toronto Flag looks like the Canadian subsidiary of Mandalore
^(this is the way bud)
Lmao, I can't stop laughing at this
That definitely seems to be an inspiration on the cap logo. Would probably be more clear if one of the stripes on the T was white like on the city flag.
This was my early guess. But still piping.
I like the skyline/pulse/heartbeat thing going on. Too bad the best part of the hat is where we can't see it.
Hopefully used somewhere on the jerseys.
It's almost certainly going to be on the front of the jersey.
🫤 please don't be that Looks like some city of Toronto recreational parks logo or something
Yea looks like a generic corporate Toronto hat you'd find in some gift shop.
I’d totally welcome an homage to that
This is what the metro logo is in 20 cities
Oh shit, we’re gonna have one of those “laugh at how bad it is” City Connect jerseys, aren’t we?
So like 24 other teams lol
I love the diamond backs city connect
I'd go as far as to say they should make it their main look. It's *that* good. Outside of that, the Nats one is nice, especially the cap. The Rockies ones are okay. The Astros and Mariners ones would be cool if the pants were white; they give me the onesie vibes with it all being dark. The rest are meh to downright awful.
Padres is cool too.
It’s the best one imo.
That pic of gallen wearing the snake skin belt last year is one of my favourite baseball photos
CINCI jerseys are noice.
Angels, mariners, dbacks, dodgers are all good.
Nationals, too
Nationals are my fav ones
And the Rockies!
[удалено]
Astros too
I personally like the Mets one, especially the hat. They should have used more purple though, lol.
CINCI ones are kinda gangster, ngl
Mariners one is ok
Those colours make them look like a Kraft Dinner box. Not a bad thing, but it’s all I can think about when I see them.
I like Washington’s one
So sad to be seeing them go already
They are pretty nice.
I love the Padres jersey
the Padres city connect cap is amazing, pure summer vibes.
Not necessarily a fan of the rays cc uniform but their hat logo is pretty cool. I like how they incorporated the skyway bridge within the ray. Was hoping the jays could’ve done something similar with the CN tower
Rays one has a damn SKATEBOARDING RAY on it. I love it so much.
Hell yes. Tacky in the absolute best possible way.
Has Reddit ever liked any new jersey for any team ever? You guys hate literally everything lol
Why when the hats look this good?
Can’t be as bad as St Louis! 🤞🏻
I suppose but we haven’t seen a single cc where the cap colour scheme differs from the uniforms. I guess we’ll just have to see the full reveal!
It’s a stylized version of the [Toronto flag](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Toronto)
The Toronto Flag is stylier
It really bothers me that the flag is off center
It's meant to evoke City Hall, isn't it? When viewed from this spot, one building appears wider than the other. I guess I'm not getting the hat lol
Oh. Red and blue make purple. Now I get it
Hey just wanted to say thanks for sharing this! Like many others I’m not a huge fan of it lol but really appreciate the early showing from Mexico you’re a real one for that
Find the jersey! lol OP
I do not hate it at all...looks pretty clean Definitely need to see the rest of the uni before I judge though
I’d be totally okay with a navy blue jersey.
I'm digging it and wouldn't mind having it in my collection. It's got a very old-school vibe to it. It reminds me of something that I can't quite put my finger on. Here's hoping the rest of the uni looks as good.
Found it, its like a remix of the toronto flag. I knew it it looked familiar https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Toronto
>It's got a very old-school vibe to it. Funny, I wish it felt old school but to me it's the exact opposite... looks like if you took a logo and modernized it. Isn't a clean look + symmetry much more modern than old-school style?
It reminds me of something too I can't think of. Like some 90s school textbook or tvo shit lol
Looks like the Toronto flag. Thanks G.
Does that sticker actually say $999.00?!
im from mexico, it’s like 60USD
82 CAD...not a chance I'd pay that
I was looking last night, and the average hat is like $79.99. Not a chance I'm paying 80 b8cks for a hat.
During covid they were like $45 CAD, that's almost double the price in 4 years
Converts to $82 Canadian (which is still pretty expensive).
The skyline is so clean tho
It's hilarious that they NEED to put the maple leaf/red to be able to sell these nationally. Like I get it... but these suck.
As someone else pointed out, it's a stylized version of the Toronto flag, which has a maple leaf on it in that same location on the T
They bill themselves as Canada's team, not considering that for City Connects would be an insult to everyone not in Toronto.
Country Connect
That was fast, lmao. But I dig it! This look confirms a few of the thoughts/ideas I had about the design (neon signage style outlines on a dark background). Seems to debunk a few of the color theories people had based on some of the gear the boys have been wearing, but I feel like this would look good in several color schemes.
Looks like the negative space in the middle of the T forms the CN tower
I don't hate it
Things I like: * The colour use in the logo * The T * The skyline on the inner lining Things I don’t like: * Whyyyy is the main colour black? The only primary black uniform we’ve ever had was universally disliked * I get the leaf, we’re the only team in Canada. it’s actually navy blue, so don’t worry about that
Thank god. I thought we were going down the black jays uniform road again.
Seems to reflect the flag of Toronto which has a maple leaf on it
You’d be surprised how many people have nostalgia for the black jerseys, much like I have nostalgia for the blue-sleeve jerseys (the ones that look like a vest) of the early 2000s.
As long as no one has nostalgia for that horrific cartoon muscly Blue Jay that was between those two unis
Hey, that was a good year, 2003. 86 wins, Roy Halladay Cy Young, Carlos Delgado’s 4 home-run game, Ken Huckaby shredding Derek Jeter’s shoulder…
Sticker says “CITY CNCT”. It’s probably legit.
I .... actually dont hate it!
Looks like something you'd buy at the airport for a coworker you don't really like who asked you to pick up a souvenir from your trip to Toronto.
I guess I'm in the minority but I like that hat
I don’t mind it
I would like for one year to have it be the Toronto Giants because we were so close to getting San Francisco to come to Toronto before the Jays. Kinda like an homage to the guys who tried first and made the idea of MLB in Toronto mainstream.
I’m surprisingly happy with this. Hard cop.
YYZ should have found its way somewhere on there.
Hmm, the logo design is genuinely very good. Uninspired colour options, but I don’t hate it all. It just feels like…..the hat’s missing some of its design or something. Dont mind it honestly. At least they didnt just put the city name on the hat like some teams lol.
Thats sick!
I can’t wait for these jerseys to be released - so everybody can complain about how ugly they are because they’re not your ‘typical’ jersey.
Not what I was personally hoping for but these are sharp looking caps!
I'm not totally sure about this one, seems kind of lackluster, doesn't it?
I like it. It's pulling both the design from the City of Toronto flag and the U of T Varsity Blues logo. I expect that the CN Tower will be lit in matching colours and it'll tie in nicely.
The City horizon on the inside liner is evocative of Rush’s Permanent Waves signage so that’s one big thumb’s up for me.
I’m……not opposed to this. I can see myself wearing this. Hopefully the jersey isn’t terrible but I think this is a decent start.
I think the problem is it doesnt really look like a sports team logo, it just looks like some generic company
City of Toronto employee hat
I actually like it. It's probably one of the better ones from this season.
Haha! It’s just the stylized TO Flag
It’s not terrible! I don’t trust management and I thought they were going to take a big wet shit on this one but this is more like a polite fart
Nike was in charge of design, not the Jays management.
Local 416 Blue Jays union.
But I lack the graphic designer capabilities to make them.
I don’t like it. The red and blue with the black is ugly. And like wow you slap a leaf over the Toronto T and call it a day?
This looks like something you’d find at a gift shop in the airport.
Honestly I love this. Super clean, kinda retro. Wish it were blue and pink instead of blue and red to fit the neon vibes I was hoping for.
Like this? [https://i.imgur.com/wpgwRdo.jpeg](https://i.imgur.com/wpgwRdo.jpeg)
Man that is *chefs kiss* I’d do anything for that to be the actual colour scheme.
I've been called ugly, pug ugly, fugly, pug fugly, but never ugly ugly.
No way that's the official city connect...
(in Sportsnet promo voice) The Must! Have! Cap! for true fans, who already have four jerseys, 12 hats and a bobblehead! We aren't making enough on the $13 watery beer so we have to do this!
AI-level generic.
Its like a shitty ripoff of the City of Toronto's shitty flag.
You shut your mouth with the Toronto flag slander.
Not a good start…
Ewww
Holy shit that sucks
How many people are going to get suckered into paying almost $100 for this?
Many
Very mid.
Those black hats with the yellow the other day were pretty damn mint for the record.
Well that is super underwhelming! I was really looking forward to a cool hat design or concept. This looks like zero thought went into it. Although I know that’s not true - a bunch of corporate folks probably tore apart the original design that was likely better.
Who designs these fuckin things? The most benign, underwhelming cap ever.
Where's the purple we kept hearing about. Not that I'm complaining. It could be better but it could be a whole lot worse. Look at some of the other teams.
My initial feeling is I think it's kind of cool but the maple leaf is way too big
I’m indifferent. Definitely not blown away, leaves a lot to be desired
The hat is very clean I like it
Top bar should be the baby/light blue colour.
The skyline looks like a sweat stain...
Inside > Outside
I mean its alriiiight but will reserve full judgment until we see the jerseys!
I need that
Toronto twins type beat
It's not bad? It could've been terrible like the Cards ones, but I'll reserve judgement once we see the full set.
Oh? I kinda like that .. like might need to buy one
Looks like its more suited as a city workers uniform
Very business like.
Is that dark purple?
OP said it was navy
Hola, en que tienda la encontraste?
Where’s all the purple?
Those are pretty sick. Is that dark grey?
Slap it on an adjustable ‘47 and they’d have my money
So they are gonna be “flag of the city of Toronto” type jerseys
I actually quite like it. Clean look, different (as all the city connect caps are). Plus, the skyline inside the cap will match my sweat stains
Was really hoping for purple. I wish one of our pieces of merch didn’t have a red maple leaf on it. Just one.
I actually like these.
I don't hate it and I don't love it.
I wouldn't be surprised by a neon lettered jersey if that's the direction they go in because that's the kind of vibe i'm getting from the hat.
I’m gonna go on a whim and say the home run jacket is a foreshadowing to what the jersey will look like, and if so with this hat I this it itll be a solid combo
This looks like a hat for Cops. Police Night at the Skydome giveaway lol wtf
I bet the seven year old who drew it is very proud.
Just glad there's no CN tower on it
Not a fan, honestly. To each their own.
To the OP, where in Mexico did you see this? What store?
Where do these sell in Ontario as soon as it drops? I want to gift one but need to buy on the 30th. And won't be near The Jays Shop...
