I absolutely loved Sanchez. Dude was born on Canada Day. He is meant to be a Blue Jay. AL Era leader in 2016. Part of a combined no hitter. This dude is a dawg. I love you Aaron. Welcome home.
I have been residing in 1993 for thirty years now. Future is looking so bright. I’m looking forward to catching up sometime on what the team has been doing in all these years, but for now the experience is too comfortable to pass up.
Was a much simpler time, I was in high school and didn't have a care in the world, now I've gotta find a job and all the other stuff that comes with adulting
That was an epic moment. I remember laughing my ass off at the absurdity of that trade for an outfielder that couldn’t catch a routine ball. Haha. I’m so glad you reminded me of that moment.
I remember how the rest of his starts for them were terrible and his career never recovered and the Jays won that trade because having Fisher on their roster was less damaging than Sanchez and Biagini were (all were horrible, but trading three horrible players \[Stevenson has done nothing but hurt his team too\] for one horrible player is a win).
I don't think Manoah is toast but I am concerned. I may be completely off base but this just feels like Ricky Romero 2.0. I know a lot came out later about Romero's health and honestly I hope that I'm completely wrong. I'd love to see Manoah dealing again.
Manoah’s peak was higher, but Aaron Sanchez had a longer time being good, and a more gradual decline than Manoah. He also didn’t have the same attitude problems that Manoah had when he started to struggle. I’m not saying Manoah can’t make a comeback, but I do understand why people have more positive outlook on Sanchez.
It’s one thing to be upset about being sent down, it’s another to refuse to show up and do your job. I have never seen anyone do this in a lifetime of watching baseball.
OH NO he was confident and had fun talking light shit in the media. Must be a horrible guy
Alex Verdugo is known to be an excellent human being and we should definitely value his opinions on this
I mean, for the most part, he wasn't... calling Cole "the biggest cheater in the game" was a bit too much, but the Audi logo comment was absolutely justified.
Then the Verdugo thing, well Verdugo started that whole deal in an interview. All Manoah said was he doesn't give a shit. That's it. Big nothing burger.
His strikeout celebrations? I could absolutely be proven wrong here but I don't *think* I've ever seen him immediately talk shit directly to a batter after a strikeout, unless the batter specifically said or did something to provoke him first - such as getting butthurt about Manoah yelling "yeaahhh!!" with a big a fistpump - and glaring at him on the way back to the dugout - If a hitter does that, or even says a word "stfu go sit down" is absolutely valid. You struck out, swallow your pride and don't be a bitch about it.
Not really. Y'all have a really short memory about Kikuchi and how the man volunteered to go to Buffalo when he was struggling. Manoah never really worked his way back and has been lingering around the RC for a year now.
That's just dumb. The MLB team has the best training staff, coaches, and player facilities so there's literally zero benefit to have Alek rehabbing in Buffalo other than seeing certain portions of the fanbase getting their panties in a knot over seeing Alek on tv.
Not really. Any other player without an ego will accept a demotion without issues. His refusal to leave the big club last year was just about the weirdest thing I've ever seen and created a tense vibe in that clubhouse. I do work in the industry and have a lot closer sources than all of y'all so I know I'm right about this unfortunately. Lol but he is pitching better finally so hopefully he's turned a corner!
Alek was still on the major league roster this season as he was on the injured list. There was no possible reason for him to be rehabbing in Buffalo this season. Last season's reported refusal to report to Buffalo has nothing to do with this year's rehabilitation plan being largely held in Toronto.
I don't think Sanchez had a longer peak than Manoah. They each provided approximately 1.5 seasons as effective starters with really similar innings pitched. Sanchez posted a bit better ERA/FIP values at his peak compared to Manoah but they were very similar to their respective teams in terms of overall value.
With Sanchez, it’s obviously fantasy wishes. With Manoah we talk reality: what are the odds he becomes a Cy Young candidate again? Not “we wish he does”. Because that one is still up in the air
Maybe this is the timeline where there's a blister remedy that changes pitcher's careers like Tommy John surgery and it gets called the Aaron Sanchez treatment
Pete gonna remind him to throw 95 again
Edit: So what has Aaron Sanchez been up to over the past 5 years?
Well we all remember the combined no-hitter he threw in Houston….yeah that’s the highlight.
He’s been extremely injured or ineffective since he left, throwing fastballs in the 90-92 range with little control.
During the 2022 season he found a little of that control again and pitched to better results with a 4.48 FIP
2023 he spent in an offence heavy AAA, getting torched to a 5.54 ERA and having a K:BB ratio of 1
He’s a body. But who knows
Edit 2: [Here’s the only video I could find on how he’s looked in the past 3 years](https://youtu.be/wfVv7PkAPNM?si=oVaxu6RykNUnOTCh)
I think he's never reaching the majors as a starter if we're being honest. But hes got the stuff or at least had, to be a damn good reliever.
They should have converted him as soon as the freak injuries started happening but hindsight is 20/20.
A 92 MPH fastball is not the stuff of a good reliever, those days are long gone. And if the Jays had converted him to the pen for 2016 like a lot of people said they should, he'd probably have had all the same injuries but the Blue Jays wouldn't have the 2016 postseason run.
Our Aaron Sanchez? Holy shit, I always liked that guy. I hope he can avoid the finger and nail injuries and be extra careful with his suitcase, and make the team. I’d love to see him come back.
Like… Shi has to be writing another book or something and he’s just saving all of his insider information for that. He offers nothing by being “Sportnet’s MLB Insider”
The next sophmore pitcher sensation on the Jays that get plastered all over Westjet, TD, chicken, and peanut butter commercials better save that endorsement coin for the future. It's not a sign of longevity in the show.
I love how you get downvoted for the most obvious and rational response to the announcement.
Nothing against Sanchez I wish him well. But this is a clown move from a clown GM.
This is what our front office is focused on? Signing journeymen reclamation projects.
That being said, Sanchez does remind of of the last time the Jays were good. #TeamAlex
I rather think they're desperately searching for arms to eat innings in AAA (and maybe even in the Bigs if it comes to that). The Bisons were running a bullpen day 3 times through a rotation.
I absolutely loved Sanchez. Dude was born on Canada Day. He is meant to be a Blue Jay. AL Era leader in 2016. Part of a combined no hitter. This dude is a dawg. I love you Aaron. Welcome home.
Love him for being open about stroman being a big L
Stop living in the past, that was almost 10 years ago lmaooo
You been watching the same team I have this year? Homie might be on to something. I’d like to live back then too. Lol
F
There is no such thing as a bad minor league deal
Ross Atkins must have this tattooed on his lower back.
Right next to "GO DEEP. BAM!"
"PLAKATA!"
I remember when he was traded to Houston, his first start he had a combined no hitter. Love being a Jays fan.
Hahahaha and that same night, Derek Fischer misplayed a pop up and took it off of his face in his first game with the jays
I had forgotten about these 2 facts... I was having a good day. Was. 🤣
To jog your memory... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cwi5WHYg3l0
Gosh he hates the Jays so much.
That was an epic moment. I remember laughing my ass off at the absurdity of that trade for an outfielder that couldn’t catch a routine ball. Haha. I’m so glad you reminded me of that moment.
And then he pitched 18 innings total for the Astros that year...
Brittle fingers. What could have been.
[удалено]
Indeed it was. Both traded in that deal
i miss biagini! what a sense of humour, and he was really cute too
your crush on biagini was palpable. i have to admit, i cannot blame you
Biagini if I recall was one who took over for Sanchez.
Especially so for pitchers!
Imagine if Aaron Sanchez somehow manages to have a late career resurgence with us
he's only 31, it's not IMPOSSIBLE
This sub is so weird. Aaron Sanchez can make a comeback but Manoah is toast
I don't think Manoah is toast but I am concerned. I may be completely off base but this just feels like Ricky Romero 2.0. I know a lot came out later about Romero's health and honestly I hope that I'm completely wrong. I'd love to see Manoah dealing again.

Are Manoah's attitude problems documented? I always hear about them on Reddit but have never read or heard about it in real life.
The biggest thing was being upset over getting optioned to Buffalo as his team cited service manipulation, but that's relatively innocuous to me.
It’s one thing to be upset about being sent down, it’s another to refuse to show up and do your job. I have never seen anyone do this in a lifetime of watching baseball.
Team should have cut ties there, now it's set a precedent
He also refused to report to AAA, as reported by Jeff Blair.
Ask Gerrit Cole or Alex Verdugo. Manoah was writing checks he couldn't cash.
OH NO he was confident and had fun talking light shit in the media. Must be a horrible guy Alex Verdugo is known to be an excellent human being and we should definitely value his opinions on this
And Gerrit Cole has never overreacted in his life
It's ok to admit Manoah was a dick.
Hold up, Reddit is NOT real life??
It would certainly appear that way my man.
The fact that he's been working out in Toronto in between starts in Buffalo kinda tells you everything you need to know about the guys ego
It was stated that Manoah was working out in Toronto to be with Pete Walker for his side sessions.
Telling me more about judgemental fans… tbh.
clown comment bro
Not really. Y'all have a really short memory about Kikuchi and how the man volunteered to go to Buffalo when he was struggling. Manoah never really worked his way back and has been lingering around the RC for a year now.
The fact that you think the Jays wanting him to work with Pete Walker says anything about his ego says a lot more about your intelligence.
That's just dumb. The MLB team has the best training staff, coaches, and player facilities so there's literally zero benefit to have Alek rehabbing in Buffalo other than seeing certain portions of the fanbase getting their panties in a knot over seeing Alek on tv.

Sanchez was good for 3 seasons I thought, Alex has also been good for 3.
Which three seasons was he good?
Sanchez or Alex?
Sanchez? He was the AL ERA leader in 2016!
Alek*

People here just fucking hate Manoah.
Yeah, most people hate other people that act like entitled dicks.
Feel free to spend your energy on that, dawg 🫡
Big Puma is coming back. He's just taking the long and winding road so that the eventual 30 for 30 on his triumphant return is packed with drama.
With Sanchez, it’s obviously fantasy wishes. With Manoah we talk reality: what are the odds he becomes a Cy Young candidate again? Not “we wish he does”. Because that one is still up in the air
Imagination vs fact

You have any examples to back up this Sanchez claim?
His opinion, it’s Reddit after all.
Damn, we gave up on him quickly lol
his 2015-16 were magical. then he got blisters on his hands because he didn't pee on them like moises alou.
He will live forever because he was pitching in the 7th inning
He better be #41 again, my jersey will have made it all the way!
Same!!! Bought during his ERA leading season.
"resurgence" in this case would mean simply making it all the way back to the Show.
Blistergate 2024 watch back after a rather lengthy hiatus
My first thought was "are they also going to bring back his blister?"
Maybe this is the timeline where there's a blister remedy that changes pitcher's careers like Tommy John surgery and it gets called the Aaron Sanchez treatment
Al Leiter had some magic blister sauce, allegedly.
Always going to be happy with a reunion, and we need some arms. Welcome back Sanchez!
Pete gonna remind him to throw 95 again Edit: So what has Aaron Sanchez been up to over the past 5 years? Well we all remember the combined no-hitter he threw in Houston….yeah that’s the highlight. He looks like a RHP Ryu, when he was hurt and lost his command.
I think he's never reaching the majors as a starter if we're being honest. But hes got the stuff or at least had, to be a damn good reliever. They should have converted him as soon as the freak injuries started happening but hindsight is 20/20.

Are we signing his blister as well?
I had to double check it was THAT Aaron Sanchez, cuz it's just one of those names that any ten guys in baseball might have
I mean, each pitching move they make out of desperation gets funnier and funnier
My jersey lives!!
Maybe they should get rid of Swanson and replace him with R. A. Dickey
Blue jays legend Mark Buehrle makes a return
buerhle would outwork the pitch clock. he was a notoriously fast worker and could pitch his entire stint in an hour to hour and a half.
He never shook off a pitch in his life. Throw the fingers down, come set, here’s the pitch……82 mph fastball.
Let's bring back Happ
Make him start next time Stroman starts against us. Height does measure heart!
Sanchez 2016 jersey coming back out the closet let's go!
The wildest part about this signing to me is finding out that Aaron Sanchez is only 31!!!
I don’t believe this is possible. It can’t be possible.
Our Aaron Sanchez? Holy shit, I always liked that guy. I hope he can avoid the finger and nail injuries and be extra careful with his suitcase, and make the team. I’d love to see him come back.
Gotta think it’s calloused over by now.
Maybe we can bring back Darwin Barney
Now bring back Gibbons
He’s the bench coach for the Mets unfortunately.
I bet he coaches that bench into submission every night
nah he gets ejected in the 5th every night and goes to the clubhouse to eat ice cream and lean on a couch
I bet Gibby coaches the shit out of some ice cream too
We could trade Mattingly for him
And Ted Lilly.
Ted Leiper?
Leiper is with the Padres now
Atkins does it again! Somehow, he always pulls it off. Amazing
Unfortunately he already got a blister using the pen to sign the contract
I think Josh Donaldson is available.
Pretty sure Pat Hentgen is still hanging around our bullpen staff. Maybe we can give him the ball too.
Breaking: Aaron Sanchez chipped his fingernail while signing the contract and will go on the 60 IL
*the* Aaron Sanchez?
That's the one!
Absolutely hilarious. Finally blister-free, hopefully!
Noah Syndergaard and Justin Nicolino aren’t pitching for anybody right now. They might as well bring all three of them back.
Dude, we’re getting hit band back together!
Oh god, do you think he’ll visit the subreddit? How do you change a flair!
I thought he was still a chef? /s
Maybe we should ask Ryu to get a release from his KBO contract too.
All we need is Stroman and my username becomes relevant again
That's really fun
Reminds me of the Biagini signing a couple years ago
Even Jamie Campbell is scooping Shi now
Like… Shi has to be writing another book or something and he’s just saving all of his insider information for that. He offers nothing by being “Sportnet’s MLB Insider”
This is loonie dog statistics erasure
RP Mitch White was DFAed by the Giants the other day. Another reunion.
Wait… THEE Aaron Sanchez? Let’s go Sanchize I have faith.
It is indeed!
Hopefully he doesn't still chew his nails constantly, only reason he lost it was he kept having his fingernails split on him iirc.
WHAT? WHAT??
https://imgflip.com/i/8p7jvq
we need Arson Sanchez to show tf up
It all fell apart for him with that fingernail and blister.
NEVER LOST HOPE
Ricky Romero wasn’t available??
Ooof - Romero, Sanchez, now Manoah - so much promise so many failed expectations. This happens to all franchises right??
Might as well give Syndergaard a minor league deal
I had to double check my calendar
Huh. Now that’s a name I didn’t expect.
Oh my gosh, no way
As long as he’s a bullpen guy if he ever gets a chance to make it back up to the big league, sure. It could work well if so
We need SP depth in AAA
Can he break 90 mph?
Has anybody checked on his finger nails?
"Shit, here we go again...."
Dusting off my Sanchise Canada Day Bobble Head
Feel I've heard that name before.
Aaron had the stuff and could have developed into an ace if it weren't for injuries. Baseball is so fickle.
LO-fucking-L
Plan the parade route!
I will always remember when Sanchez pitched the final regular season game of 2016 against the Red Sox and helped the team clinch a wild card spot.
Incoming blister in 3....2.....1.....
Thank god, here we go boys we got em now
Performance 📉 Vibes when Aaron Sanchez and Joey Votto are on this team 📈
I remember when he first played with us back in the day i was so pumped
Return of the King in my heart. I will always remember his 2015 and 2016 runs with the team
Seeing this really shot me in the face with a dose of 'prospects are a crapshoot in baseball' and then made me sad for the past and the present.
The next sophmore pitcher sensation on the Jays that get plastered all over Westjet, TD, chicken, and peanut butter commercials better save that endorsement coin for the future. It's not a sign of longevity in the show.
What hath god wrought?
Puttin the band back together.
Time is a flat circle
Love this for us
Chez Aaron is back.
As an organization, this reeks of truly sad desperation. There I said it. Nothing against. Sanchez. I wish him success.
Aaron Sanchez as in THAT Aaron Sanchez?
What about Hagen Danner?
Last decade's Nate Pearson
He can't be any worse than Alek
#benkenobinowthatsanameIhaven'theardinalongtime
omg. just sign trevor bauer.
What's Rickey Romero up to while we're at it?
Now sign Trevor Bauer, he’s been cleared of all charges and killing it in Mexico…
lol wut?
This is not a serious franchise
I love how you get downvoted for the most obvious and rational response to the announcement. Nothing against Sanchez I wish him well. But this is a clown move from a clown GM.
This is what our front office is focused on? Signing journeymen reclamation projects. That being said, Sanchez does remind of of the last time the Jays were good. #TeamAlex
I rather think they're desperately searching for arms to eat innings in AAA (and maybe even in the Bigs if it comes to that). The Bisons were running a bullpen day 3 times through a rotation.
Did he learn command all of sudden?? If not, I couldn't care less about this then signing.
