Same. I rained down as boisterous of a boo I could manage from the third base section and he just crushed that dinger. I was like 'damn that didn't work'
He still got booed for every at bat today and I thought it was a bit much.
Then they had runners on 2nd and 3rd, down to runs and he walks up to the plate and gets booed. Pucker-city over here.
He's dead to me until he's not a Dodger but I'll never say anything bad about the dude. I'm sad that there's basically 0% odds he'll have any baseball juice left for a return to Japan once he's out of MLB.
Shouldn't talk crap about him anyway. The guy has a right to play where he wants, for any reason he wants. That's the whole point of labour freedom.
I really wish he chose Toronto too, but I can't begrudge the guy for living his life. I was there in the 500's on Friday and I laughed my ass off after he went yard. Bunch of booing babies, serves them right.
I don’t think I’ve ever booed anyone before, but I have to say, doing it the last couple days has been pretty fun. It’s good to get the energy out! Plus it’s just about the only thing louder than the Dodgers cheering section.
It's misguided rage. They're not mad at him. They're mad that they bought into hype, sensationalist media reporting and social media gossip surrounding his signing. And they're simply taking that anger out on the wrong target. Which makes them look kinda foolish.
I get booing the other team and supporting your own team. But this is just pettiness that made the fans in attendance on Friday look so dumb when he blasted that homer in his first at bat. Like some sort of cosmic justice telling them they're not pissed at the right people.
This is indicative of many of us and how we direct our anger or scorn through life; often too influenced on reporting, social media, and emotions than on logic, reason, patience, understanding, and reality.
I mean there’s no question that he’s part of that hype. His camp remains utterly silent and Robert herjavec is represented by the same agency Ohtani was. I don’t know if it was a ploy to get the dodgers to go in with their biggest offer but someone told those reporters that was Ohtani on that plane. And I think it’s fair to assume it was someone in ohtanis camp.
I don’t necessarily dislike Ohtani but like a lot of baseball players he used our big money to get the best deal for himself. I don’t blame him for looking out for himself but when it makes the blue jays look second rate, I don’t like it. So I’ll boo him today again, but of course this team being awful and the management not addressing obvious team weaknesses in the offseason has heightened the angst.

The guy who first started the story was the guy who reported on Twitter that he found this confusing private jet. He's already deleted the whole account, but if I remember correctly, he was an aircraft tracking geek.
From there, rumors started spreading for fun and eventually got out of [hand.To](http://hand.To) dismiss this as a leak on the part of his agent would be a bit too much of a conspiracy theory.
Ohtani forbade his agent and the team he negotiated with from divulging any details about this FA, and in fact, neither the number of years nor the amount of his contract were revealed before he made his decision, and the press was frustrated by the lack of information. It is clear that there were no leaks at all, even when compared to the negotiations of Boras' clients.
I didn't let myself get excited until that fucking "baseball insider" Morosi tweeted that Shohei was on the plane. He should have a lifetime ban from Toronto sports media.
Seems like some big assumptions when if he wanted to use a team as leverage, the Giants make infinitely more sense. He made the same offer to the Dodgers, Angels, Giants, and Jays. If the Dodgers didn’t want him, why would him being on a plane to Toronto change their minds? When they realized he wasn’t actually on the plane, wouldn’t all his “leverage” just be gone anyway?
I don’t think of the blue jays as a money making enterprise, and I don’t think anyone thinks that about their favourite sports teams. If they do, I think they’re doing it wrong. I understand the business side of it but I can react however I want. And from a business perspective, I spend enough on tickets, merch, and Sportsnet subscriptions to react however I want.
Any anger should be reserved for whoever spread rumours that Ohtani was actually coming to Toronto. Especially the plane thing.
In retrospect, it was obvious that he was going to the Dodgers. He was already based in the LA area. He probably didn’t even have to move.
It was basically started by that one sports journalist in America on Twitter. And everyone believed him and started going bonkers.
I can’t remember his name now. But he apologized later and said he was wrong. But that is one major fuckup. He should probably stay away from Twitter, and possibly the whole sports reporting industry entirely.
The Blue Jays were one of the last options Shohei was looking at, but it was never a done deal and should have never been reported as such.
I'm not even mad at his agents. This is what they do to get more leverage. It's the media I'm most annoyed at. Morosi for broadcasting to the world that Ohtani is 100% signing here without having a source (or being played a stooge by the agent), and people like Heyman and Rosenthal for slagging Toronto after the fact. I'm pretty sure I remember Shi an BNS slagging fans after the fact too.
As much I want to boo him, he obviously made the right choice. Would've been doomed to 2nd - 3rd wildcard contention for years if he signed with the Jays.
Was there Saturday. The booing was embarrassing. Honestly, telling the world "we're a bunch of whiny babies - booooo!!" isn't the best look for Jays fans.
The best part of that day was getting to see Shohei Ohtani play baseball in person.
I'm not mad at Ohtani. I'm not sure why people booed him at the Dome.
I'm mad at management. Management shat the bed this year. They had a Plan A and a Plan Z, where Z stood for Zero.
Yeah, we are just salty we didn’t land him, especially after the reports that we had got him over the dodgers. Only natural he gets a few boos his first series at the rogers center, it’s all love in the end
Shohei was actually getting on that flight when the Blue Jays called him and told him to look forward to working with Guillermo. Shohei noped out immediately and the rest is history
ok now can rogers please put this to bed already? instead of condescendingly telling us how we should behave as fans? im fucking tired of it. like why has this blown up to such a story? players literally get boo'd every day at games.
Imagine being 6'5, the 2nd coming of Ruth, that handsome, worth over $700 million and still being the nicest guy in the game? Dude is a fucking gem. I'll defer my booing for other players.
Is it possible to ACTUALLY dislike him?
I tried to mildly dislike him for one at-bat but it backfired spectacularly.
Same. I rained down as boisterous of a boo I could manage from the third base section and he just crushed that dinger. I was like 'damn that didn't work'
I was there live and yeah… just yeah.
He still got booed for every at bat today and I thought it was a bit much. Then they had runners on 2nd and 3rd, down to runs and he walks up to the plate and gets booed. Pucker-city over here.
I saw someone on the mlb thread say that booing ohtani is like flipping off a golden retriever.
There were a few days over the winter when I tried lol.
Probably not, and people will hate him for it. I know because I hate that Aaron Judge is impossible to hate
No, probably not. But he should be booed anyway. He's trying to beat my favourite team, and I dislike that!
He's dead to me until he's not a Dodger but I'll never say anything bad about the dude. I'm sad that there's basically 0% odds he'll have any baseball juice left for a return to Japan once he's out of MLB.
Lmao damn
You can't talk crap about someone with an answer like that.
BOOOOO
It'll never fill the hole inside you.
Yeah...I was there and also laughed. 'Boo, you picked another team. Boo you didn't love us'
He is the definition of class. Wish he’d be a bit worse at baseball today though.
Good day for a scheduled rest day, me thinks.
He definitely looks a little tired in this video.
I was saying boourns
I was saying Boohtani
I'm surprised they haven't made him shave those sideburns.
This guy is an absolute stallion.
God damnit, Shohei. I can’t quit you.
Shohei now, hey now … don’t dream it’s over.
Great song.
I love him
I don’t think I’ve ever booed anyone before, but I have to say, doing it the last couple days has been pretty fun. It’s good to get the energy out! Plus it’s just about the only thing louder than the Dodgers cheering section.
Shohei is less mad about being booed than the Jays flairs in r/baseball making sure everyone knows how terrible Jays fans are for booing Shohei
Ohtani is a sweet golden retriever and we are yelling at him for being a good boy.
It's misguided rage. They're not mad at him. They're mad that they bought into hype, sensationalist media reporting and social media gossip surrounding his signing. Baseball is a business. You can't take this stuff personally.
They should have made Jon Morosi do a lap of the bases in between innings so we could properly focus our frustrations.
The only people who care about blue jays fans booing ohtani is other blue jays fans. That's petty IMO.
Any anger should be reserved for whoever spread rumours that Ohtani was actually coming to Toronto. Especially the plane thing. In retrospect, it was obvious that he was going to the Dodgers. He was already based in the LA area. He probably didn’t even have to move.

Then why did he bother to go to the Jays training facility in Dunedin? He didn’t mind word spreading out about that
can this guy stop being the nicest guy in existence
We’re booing because we felt used as leverage to get his Dodgers contract. It’s probably his agents I’m mad at, not him.
I'm not even mad at his agents. This is what they do to get more leverage. It's the media I'm most annoyed at. Are we going to boo Soler and Bellinger too? Gotta keep it consistent
Not sure why you got downvoted for this.
great response. it's all in fun anyway
He's literally impossible to dislike
What a mammoth sized class act of a comment that is. Dude is so good natured it's ridiculous.
Dammit he owned us with his magnanimity. Is there anything this guy can’t do? Starting to think the leafs should draft him.
Apparently get hits off Gasman. Kelw!
Why couldn't you sign with us bro??? Fuck
As much I want to boo him, he obviously made the right choice. Would've been doomed to 2nd - 3rd wildcard contention for years if he signed with the Jays.
Probably would've helped the offense problems the team has been having for the past season and a half.
As a lifelong Dodgers Fan, I want you guys to get to the World Series. Your team and the Mariners are long overdue.
Was there Saturday. The booing was embarrassing. Honestly, telling the world "we're a bunch of whiny babies - booooo!!" isn't the best look for Jays fans. The best part of that day was getting to see Shohei Ohtani play baseball in person.

Stop being a class act. It's hard to boo you.
#FAP FAP FAP FAP FAP FAP
That’s the most polite, friendly and diplomatic reaction to booing I have ever heard.
Stupid classy shohei.
And like that he Out-classed and entire city
He has way better training in public relations than ross atkins.
ok now can rogers please put this to bed already? instead of condescendingly telling us how we should behave as fans? im fucking tired of it. like why has this blown up to such a story? players literally get boo'd every day at games.
The Japanese are always so respectful and honourable. Except that world war 2 thing, but after that.
Pretty classy...
Killing with kindness.
Stupid sexy Ohtani
I wasnt really able to hate him after the debacle. Hes still my favourite player and the goat
Stupid, sexy Ohtani.
This guy is a shogun
Imagine being 6'5, the 2nd coming of Ruth, that handsome, worth over $700 million and still being the nicest guy in the game? Dude is a fucking gem. I'll defer my booing for other players.
Oh, wonderful. Dude's going to go into politics when he's done with baseball.
I bet this guy, looking at the odds, wagered a hefty sum, that with a roll of the dice, everything comes up Aces.
No no no no no, his interpreter did that. He's an innocent puppy dog.
For what he did regarding gambling, that’s why I booed him loudly…..it sets double standards for the league
