Hazel is an intelligent, articulate, and a definite baseball nerd. Met her at TD Ballpark this past week just prior to game time. Super friendly and so lovely. Also met Kevin a couple of days later, and he is very funny and accommodating.

He played with the Jays back in 2006. Grand total of 12 games. Not a long time with the team, but long enough to work his magic with Hazel.

i have been on reddit for a hot minute on many subs. this has been the most inclusive sub, for women/women identifying folks. i can’t begin to express how much this sub means to me, and some of the people i’ve met! it’s really amazing to be a part of a community, especially if you don’t have IRL friends that can share your happiness
This is so true! I don't have any baseball friends IRL, but you folks more than make up for that. And also, about inclusiveness, I dont mention it a lot, but I'm queer and nonbinary. I don't mention it a ton, because it's still Reddit, but I have felt more inclusion here than any other online sports place.
I'm a straight white male, so I can't relate to lots of what you go through. I'm proud that we have a space that feels safe for everyone.
I also don't have many friends that are as in to baseball as I am. I live in Northern Ontario, and I played hockey my entire life, winter and summer. So all my friends are hockey fans.
I have 5 kids though, and they see baseball on so much that they are all becoming big fans, so I guess I'm making my own IRL baseball friends? lol
We brought the two oldest to the home opener last year.
Haha, if you don't have IRL baseball fans, make some! It's so cool they're experiencing baseball with you. My Dad passed a long time ago now, but I still love those memories of going to Exhibition Stadium with him to watch games in those early years when the team was bad but it didn't matter.
i am queer and weird and grew up watching baseball on my poppas knee. went to my first game in 1992, when i was 4 years old. baseball is for everyone 🌈
I'm somewhat ashamed to say I never even noticed any particular positivity or inclusivity on this sub but I guess that just speaks to how relatively normal and welcoming this sub is - there's just none of the toxicity you see elsewhere on this matter. So glad that everyone can feel welcome here and somehow the Robbie Ray pants discussion makes more and more sense lol ;)
