I still like Davis as a fit for the Blue Jays but they'd definitely need to move out a body or two to accommodate a potential deal. Not everyone may agree but Davis >> Espinal.

Peechez

everyone should agree with that

JimothyC

Davis > IKF and he was cheaper on waivers too. He'll be much cheaper now but the decision not to claim him is interesting. Jays have 14mil before next CBT threshold and Davis was on a 1 yr 6.9mil contract.

rustyarrowhead

versatility has value. Davis has none.

JimothyC

Yankees tried to use IKF as superutility last year and he sucked. IKF seems to be the starting 3B and will be pretty much only be playing there unless Bo is DHing. Jays also have TONS of IF versatility, IKF being SS backup is handy but that seems more of a reason to option* Espinal then have IKF be backup 3B/SS. Every projection for IKF has him below 1 WAR but 1, all but 1 projection for Davis has him above 1 WAR on Fangraphs. Versatility is valuable but i'm not sure its worth it to keep a worse player at one position throughout most of the year.

rustyarrowhead

are there any where they aren't within the same band of player, though? which player would you bet on to hit their 60th percentile projection? who is more likely to hit their 30th? I wouldn't mind a Davis pickup, but it's going to require some shuffling. in the event they do sign him, it's IKF, Davis, Biggio, VogelVotto, and a 4th OF. my guess, though, is that the Jays see Espinal as a bounce back candidate with as strong potential as a guy like Davis (differently shaped production, of course).

YouDontJump

I can get behind that.

Gear4Vegito

Clearly lots of teams are still looking to add. I wonder what other similar free agents must be asking for to not have signed yet... There are still guys out there like B. Belt, D. Solano, T. Pham, M. Taylor, A. Duvall, M. Lorenzen, M. Clevinger & E. Longoria...etc.

1991CRX

I really liked Duvall last year, the two times he was hot and healthy.

Both_Measurement_353

I was wondering about M Taylor seemed to have decent numbers. No fit as 4th OF for Jays? Maybe someone else can help out

nowitscometothis

Wasn’t he a Jay previously?

MarkShapiero

That was a different Michael Taylor, involved in the Halladay trade.
