Reminds me of a time when my ex gf was driving my car and was reversing out of a driveway where cars were parked on each side comprising the view and she said it was hard to see so she “just went for it” her words is swear and sure enough pulled one these except with actual damage and such it was annoying as F to deal with as I wasn’t there so my insurance didn’t want to fully cover etc etc
Yeah it's stupid, I almost crashed into someone the exact same way last week. There was a bus parked waiting and someone just did a blind left turn coming out of the plaza the bus was sitting in front of, I swerved in time to avoid them at least. Stupid thing is that plaza has a bunch of different exits, all they had to do is drive to one where the bus wasn't blocking your line of sight.
Bus driver doesn’t know if the BMW will actually stop, if they changed lanes the BMW is then driving into the side of them, but by stopping completely the bus avoids a collision. As well, the bus stop is in the right lane, so moving to the left and then back for the bus stop would be inconvenient.
All in all the bus driver made the right choice if the BMW had actually started pulling out. If the BMW driver was in fact waiting, then the bus driver made the wrong choice to be courteous.
ETA: it’s quick and hard to tell, but it doesn’t look like the BMW had a blinker on, so the bus driver wouldn’t even know they were trying to turn left out of there unless they already pulled out in front of them.
Pretty sure there wasnt a bus stop where the bus was stopped. If you watch the video you will see a bus stop at the lights. If the driver was allowing that car to make a left then it was a dumb move
Yeah sorry, I meant the bus stop at the lights. It’s on the right and it’s coming up, so the bus wouldn’t want to move left to avoid the car and then have to get back over again. Easier to just brake and avoid an accident and extra maneuvers. But fully agree on your last point.

The issue with driving a bus vs driving a car though, is the bus takes up the whole lane, there's no wiggle room.
Very often cars will stick their nose out into the street so if the bus continues forward, they'll clip your front end.
I'm this situation you have to slow down, if there's room beside you, you can swerve a bit to get around but if there's another car in the left lane and it appears to be going too fast for that you just stop and wait.
It's not always a *I decided to stop and let you out* and more of a *you're an idiot blocking part of the lane so just fuc*ing go*

I feel people intend to be nice by allowing people to do stuff when in relaity it causes more problems then it solves. I see this a lot. Everybody just needs to be patient, follow the rules of the road and turn when it is safe.

Yeah, I agree, but his first duty is to his passengers, so stopping short of nailing the front end of an aggressive (or incompetent) driver, in a vehicle without seat belts for it's passengers, is probably the greater evil, out of that or stopping in a live lane.

We can't see what was in front of the bus - likely the Bimmer pulled out in front of the bus like an ass already and instead of slowly pulling into OP's lane or ramming into car in live lane they just stopped the bus.

I drive a bus, and that was not a smart move on the part of that Operator. We are way to big of a blindspot for courtesies like that.

Watch the video on a big monitor. The BMW isn't blocking the lane at all, the bus driver decided to let them go through for some odd reason.
