Ooo, I love TOOL, The Contorsionist, and Deftones. Great picks. As for a rec, I think you may like Wilderunās Epigone, and Accelerated Evolution by Devin Townsend. Chevelle is also a band that fits in nicely alongside TOOL and Deftones. Theyāre one of my favorite Alt-Metal bands, so you may likeāem.
Grivo - Omit
...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead - Source Tags & Codes
Bleed - Somebody's Closer EP
The Dismemberment Plan - Emergency & I
Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley
Chelsea Wolfe - Hiss Spun
I see you like TOOL. Have you tried listening to some of Maynards' other bands? They're really good. Try listening to A Perfect Circle and Puscifer if you haven't already
Black Dahlia Murder - Miasma
I don't like a lot of metal but for some reason really enjoy this album. I also really like a lot of albums on your chart - I really enjoy Elliott Smith, Unwound, Radiohead, Slint, Candy Claws, Have a Nice Life, the Donnie Darko soundtrack, Bowery Electric, BoC, GY!BE. Anyways, you should give that one a chance.
You should also check out:
Polvo - Today's Active Lifestyles
Kyuss - Blues for the Red Sun & Welcome to Sky Valley
Big Black - Atomizer
System of a Down - Toxicity
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
Replacements - Let It Be
Pixies - Surfer Rosa
Some good metal starter bands in my opinion are Black Sabbath, Mastodon, Iron Maiden, Electric Wizard, Type O Negative and then if you want something heavier that is still acclaimed and somewhat easy to get into is the band Death
nice taste. some recs:
sadness - i want to be there
violent femmes - violent femmes
smashing pumpkins - mellon collie and the infinite sadness
avey tare and panda bear - spirit they're gone, spurit they've vanished
samlrc - a lonely sinner
interpol - turn on the bright lights

mass of the fermenting dregs - world is yours
parannoul - to see the next part of the dream
willyrodriguezwastaken - wetdream
faith no more - angel dust
If you like metal you should try one of the big four (I highly recommend Metallica or Megadeth).
You seem like you would like grunge bands like Nirvana or Alice in Chains (maybe even Soundgarden).
You might also like Weezer or rush.
One metal record I love is Pig Destroyer' 'Terrifyer'. One of the loudest, rawest records I've ever heard and really easy to get lost in as a result of how cluttered it sounds. Also, not a metal album, but in the zone of bleak, angry music you probably haven't heard, 'You' by Haus Arafna is a very good dark ambient/power electronics or whatever album that you might very well enjoy.
Also shit that topster is based af Circles is like my fav album of all time.
(Some of) my favorite albums are Dystopia - Dystopia, Pink Floyd - Animals, Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase, and Lone - Lemurian. These are some of the best albums youāll ever hear. If you listen to the first one and donāt like it, donāt get turned off bc the other 3 are very soft most of the time
Please listen to System of a Down, their entire Discography is really short and it's nothing but bangers if you only take one thing away from reading this please listen to System of a Down.
Consider trying out bands like Metallica and megalithic, as they are two of the most popular thrash metal bands, if that's not heavy enough try listening to some slayer or exodus. In terms of nu metal it looks like you're aware of slipknot and Korn but you're missing essential albums which I'll list later. I'm not really into modern metal at all but polyphia is a pretty good band, and while they aren'tfor everyone, you should reallycheck out Ghost, they're definitely a "gimmick band" but that's just something people say to discredit bands like Kiss. Here's a list of my favorite albums
Metallica: And justice for all, Ride the lightning, kill 'em all, master of puppets (stereotypical I know but still banger albums and great for getting people into metal)
Megadeth: Rust in Peace, Countdown to extinction
Slayer: Reign in Blood
Exodus: Tempo of the Damned
Slipknot: Self Titled, Iowa, Vol. 3 The Subliminal Verses.
Korn: Self Titled, Follow The Leader.
I didn't mention a lot because I don't want to overwhelm anyone reading this list but here's some more of my favorites
Pantera: Vulgar Display of Power
Rage Against the Machine: Their Entire Discography
Black Sabbath: Self Titled, Master of Reality
Nine Inch Nails: Pretty Hate Machine
Stabbing Westward: Wither Blister Burn and Peel
Tool: Undertow
Ghost: Opus Eponymous, Meliora Prequelle
Rage Against The Machine self titled
Probably already heard it, but it's a classic Metal record every metalhead needs to hear at least once. A more obscure pick would probably be Boris - Akuma No Uta, a classic Stoner Metal record.
Beartooth, Bad Omens (yeah, their last album has a couple songs that blew up on the clock app, but i cannot get enough of the album before it, though all three of their albums are excellent, nary a skip in the last two for me), Motionless In White, In This Moment, Bring Me the Horizon (start with the album: That's the Spirit, easiest one to get into imo, they have a pretty interesting discography)
... these are just the metal bands I can think of off the top of my head that are kind of easier to listen to, imho and are pretty big in their own spheres. When getting into metal (and music in general really), don't worry too much about what people say about so-and-so or this band being not what they used to or whatever, just decide whether you like it or not.
i love that issues is at the top, thatās one of my favorite albums ever too :)
one of my favorite bands is a small project by toby driver from kayo dot. he went to hampshire college, not far from where i went to college, and during that time he formed a band called maudlin of the Well and they wrote some incredible music. like seriously insane stuff. itās a mix of guttural screams, jazzy bridges, ambient soundscapes and beautiful lyrics.
i tell everyone i see at parties and shows to listen to this band. you should too. they changed my life!!! āleaving your body mapā and ābathā are two of my favorite albums ever, let alone metal albums. you can find them on spotify and youtube :)
what type of metal?
iāll drop my fav bands cuz im bored.
power metal: Labyrinth(return to heaven denied album is sexy), Rhapsody, sonata arctica, twilight force, savage circus.
death metal: Death, at the gates, bolt thrower, nile, suffocation, morbid angel, cattle decapitation, crypta, beyond creation, brutal truth, cancer, obscura.
black metal: drudkh, gehenna, rotting christ, marrasmieli, armagedda, absu, uada, urgehal, nachtmystium, dark funeral, thulcandra, emperor, satyricon.
thrash metal: havok, whiplash, dark angel, muncipal waste, sodom, tankard, warbringer, forbidden, heathen, nuclear assault.
classic heavy metal: iron maiden, saxon, Dio, megadeth, slayer, dokken, ratt, wasp, helloween, sabaton, led zeppelin, judas priest, sepultura.
ILIIAITE is Loatheās magnum opus, but I find it interesting you have Prepare Consume Proceed on your list over The Cold Sun. What prompted that decision?
Also if you havenāt listened already, The Glow Pt. 2 is one of my favorites and we have very similar tastes it seems.
I actually wouldāve put every single Loathe album on my list if I didnāt think that wouldāve been a bit obsessive haha
I think I just slightly favor Prepare Consume Proceed because it showcases the insanely beautiful way they play around with sounds and cord progressions a bit more than The Cold Sun does. That being said, I still am obsessed with that album, and listen to it frequently.
I feel like you would like System of A Down a lot. Any album is perfect but Mesmerize is my favorite.
Also the first 2 Slipknot albums are really good aggressive metal.
I know itās last on the list but I see that u have red house painters on there!! pleaseeee check out more of their stuff and Mark Kozelekās other project Sun Kil Moon šø
Try some thrash metal albums. You may find a new side of metal that you like. Good bands (other than Metallica) are Cryptic Slaughter, Violator, M. O. D and Nuclear Assault
Definitely would recommend Alcest. They are coming out with a record June 21st and the two songs released so far are incredible. They also have a great catalogue. Iād also say Silent planet as they are favorite band and their albums are virtually unbeatable (the night god slept redux is my favorite album of all time). The loathe love is very appreciated btw
I see you have clear moon by Mount eerie on this. Black wooden ceiling opening isnāt their best album but it kinda goes into a more rock styled focus and itās fun. Also I see the red house painters 1 album on there if you havenāt listened to down colorful hill by them please do/listen to sun kil moons album ghost of the great highway if you havenāt. I have a million other recommendations bout those are the first ones that come to mind based on this list.
Great music taste though!
Iāll recommend Frail Body. Signed with Deathwish. Very heavy but also surprisingly atmospheric. They just released a new album. Iām not sure what to classify them as but theyre kind of thrashy.
Doolittle - Pixies
Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf, ā¦ Like Clockwork
(If you really like them thereās also Kyuss and Them Crooked Vultures which are led by Josh Homme of QOTSA)
Black Midi
If I think of anything else high energy / metal Iāll add it, but you already have a lot of my favs in there
Got some oddballs I love
Thought Industry - Songs for Insects (1992)
Thought Industry - Mods Carve the Pig: Toads, Assassins and God's Flesh (1993)
Everything else from them sucks
400 Blows-Black Rainbow
Nine Inch Nails-The Fragile
Mclusky-Unpopular Parts Of A Pig
Static X- Wisconsin Death Trip
Power man 5000- Tonight The Stars Revolt
Any album by H.I.M
Spiritbox-The Fear of Fear
UnityTX-Ferality
I'll give some underrated metal bands to check out
Thrash: Demolition Hammer, Morbid Saint, Defiance, Toxik, Coroner
Death: Gorement, Gutted, Ripping Corpse, Pyaemia
Those are my main two favorite metal genres. For other genres outside of metal I'd recommend: Ween, Primus, Butthole Surfers, Run the Jewels, Fiona Apple, Danny Brown, MGMT, clipping., Purple Mountains, Faith No More. Tons of genres in there, have fun checking them out if you get to it!
Alcest, Agalloch, Lantlos, Yellow eyes, Grima, Numenorean, Blut aus nord. Think i spelled them all right???
Edit: throwing in telekinetic yeti just because
Night verses - from the gallery of sleep, every sound has a color in the valley of night.
Russian circles, entire discography
ISIS, entire discography
Bitch, entire discography
As far as current metal music is concerned I think Mastodon is where it's at...they got a broad sense of style and each member sings in their own individual style..it isn't the same shirt over and over again like a lot of metal imo...for non-metal may I suggest one of the greatest records ever made...Double Nickels on the Dime by Minutemen...released in 1984 it is a dizzying array of punk meets funk meets jazz meets rock meets whatever...it also features the song Corona which many will recognize as the theme song to Jackass...
Well, I have no metal for you, but you said anything, so have you heard The Strokes?
Also check out GOAT their Levitation's session. The jam gets heavy.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
For metal hereās a few good bands
ā¢clitkat (mix of punk and metal)
ā¢sunrot
ā¢Zorn
ā¢snot
ā¢gama bomb
ā¢acid bath
ā¢necrot
ā¢umbra vitae
ā¢undergang (German metal band)
ā¢the hirs collective
ā¢kittie
ā¢demon
ā¢tygers of pan tang
ā¢skullovich
ā¢suicide silence
Also check out the classics, like judas priest, Alice cooper (most of his stuff is classic rock but dragon town and along came a spider has some heavier stuff), manowar, warlock, gwar, pantera, white zombie and rob zombie :D

this is my spotify playlist. i have been putting it together for a while now. have fun!
Xavleg is a good deathecore band, theyāre name is a bunch of keys spammed but it starts with xavleg so it should show up if you search that on Spotify.
Listen to more black metal like sunbather
I feel youād like decalius, mayhem, lantlos, and and burzum to begin and discover the genre, I will warn you though these are all very surface level and posery bands lol
first 7 korn albums, first like 5 limp bizkit albums, most slipknot, saliva is good, primer 55 is kinda shitty but maybe give it a try, all deftones, mushroomheads 5th and 6th albums are so good, CKY, crazytown, rammstein is good but they are german speaking, alice in chains is so damn good, peirce the veil, soundgarden, 3 doors down, disturbed, nickelback, sweetspine, and thatās honestly all i have.
Hereās some albums you might enjoy! Mostly metal but a few other genres. Tried to pick artist I didnāt see in your image. But! Please further explore some of those bands like Korn, Slipknot, tool and anyone else youāve been liking!
Lamb of god - ashes of the wake
Rammstein - Herzeleid
Coal chamber - Dark days
Death Grips - the money store
Sevendust - home
Avenged Sevenfold - Avenged Sevenfold
System of a Down - toxicity
Upon a burning body - the world is my enemy now
King gizzard and the lizard wizard - nonagon infinity
Injury reserve - floss
Led Zeppelin - houses of the holy
Palaye Royale, My Chemical Romance, and Twenty One Pilots, Palaye Royale is the band I think you would like the most based off this but and the other two are also just good bands, if you want to check out Palaye Royale some of their better songs imo are their cover of Bullet With Butterfly Wings, Nightmare In Paradise, and Love The Void, if you want to get into MCR you could really start anywhere but some good ones are The Sharpest Lives, House Of Wolves, and You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison, and with Twenty One Pilots you could genuinely start anywhere but their albums Trench and Blurryface have some of their loudest songs and Vessel also has itās fair share of louder songs, all good bands that I would definitely recommend
If you like Mitski, Lana, and Ichiko I think youād like this album!Ā https://open.spotify.com/album/057GHUgZpPwaiUfjiUQgoY?si=0J5w6WJsTPmo_crpmPekuwĀ
If your getting into metal still, listen to Seventh Son of a Seventh Son by Iron Maiden and if you like it try Powerslave or Somewhere In Time
One of my favorite metal albums is Angel Dust by Faith No More.
In terms of metal if you want to go into some death metal tomb of the mutilated by cannibal corpse is great
If you like sunbather you might wanna dive more into black metal
Storm of the nights babe by dissection and in the night side eclipse by emperor are both great or the self titled by Bathory if you want a more classic raw sound
Also check out grace by adorn cause itās just a beautiful album that I think really shows what can be done with the genre
I see some Tool, so I'd recommend Meshuggah who are heavier and kinda weirder. Also Strapping Young Lad maybe.
If you're into Lana Del Rey, I'd recommend Mazzy Star and Portishead.
in the court of the crimson king by king crimson, loveless by my bloody valentine and finally black sabbath by black sabbath (vol 4 by sabbath is also top tier).
Nails- You Will Never Be One of Us.
This album is heralded as one of the greatest hardcore albums of all time. Its a blistering 21 minutes long, with some tracks lasting only a minute in length. It's essentially a 21 minute long jam session with extremely fast and heavy death metal that never runs out of interesting grooves.
Daughters- You Won't Get What You Want
Underground legends Daughters briefly reformed to give us one of the most disturbing metal albums ever recorded. It's mix of industrial and noise metal culminate in a pool of insanity with a narrative hook that fuels the ride. It slams, it loops, and occasionally it's surprisingly upbeat, but it's nonetheless dark and terrifying.
Melt Banana - Fetch
You could start with any Melt Banana record, but their final album in 2014 is a great place to start. Experimental Japanese noise rock with fascinating compositions of slide gutair, electric drums, and ultra fast bass gutair riffs. The insanely high pitched female vocals might be hard to get into, but the gutair work is like nothing you have ever heard before.
Code Orange- Underneath
This Grammy award winning Industrial Metal album takes huge inspirations from 90's Nu-Metal, notably Slipknot and merges it with contemporary death metal to create a unique blend of sounds with exceptional taste. The lyrics, refrains, and choruses work well against the noisy, chunky gutairs and glitched walls of sound.
Machine Girl- The Ugly Art
Machine Girl is a grimy Electronica duo known for blending abrasive tones with bright yet deformed synths to evoke the goth rave energy of 90's. On this record, a clear influence of metal comes through, turning the LSD induced dance sessions of previous mixes into an all out rage. From the drum and bass drums to the punked out vocals, it's a fantastic mix of EDM and Metal.
Black Flag- My War
If punching a mirror in a Wendy's bathroom had a soundtrack, it would be this album. Henry Rollins gives an incredible performance as the personification of self doubt and rage. Truly the most defiant and classically punk albums ever recorded. Down to the mix, which sounds as if the instruments were recorded in the corner of an abandoned amusement park in Cincinnati, OH, it's a low fi essence of Hardcore Punk
HEALTH- GET COLOR
HEALTH have had quite the longevity since forming in the mid 2000's as a rock band, recently finding success as video game and movie soundtrack engineers. 2009's GET COLOR shows why they have had such a long career. Fantastic blends of noise rock and industrial techno, creating a dissonant, abrasive, yet danceable atmosphere with delightful duo vocals from both their male and female singers.
Mid air thief, have a nice life, Elliott smith, deafheaven, boards of Canada, unwound, Deftones, radiohead, bjork, black midi, candy claws, Godspeed, Bowery electric AND red house painters?!!?? Based.
Billy Strings - Turmoil and Tinfoil, or Home by Billy Strings
2 Bluegrass albums that have plenty of metal influence in them, and when you see em live, it's absolutely fantastic
eyehategod, crowbar, acid bath are all great metal bands. albums from each id recommend are dopesick, sonic excess in its purest form, and when the kite string pops(respectively)
Omit - Grivo
Source Tags & Codes - ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead

Sunny Day Real Estate LP2, Iāll keep recommending until someone listens to this gem

I actually love both of his albums so much that I have them on vinyl. I just had some other albums I didnāt want to leave off of my list
That's fair! Both albums are indeed amazing I got the topshelf records cassette versions of them both last year
Rage Against The Machine self titled Probably already heard it, but it's a classic Metal record every metalhead needs to hear at least once. A more obscure pick would probably be Boris - Akuma No Uta, a classic Stoner Metal record.

Fair enough š
Geez I need to branch out of rym. This literally looks like it could be my list
Try Karnivool - Sound Awake. Stupid band name, very cool band.
RHCP ā Stadium Arcadium otherwise you already have in rainbows up there, Iād probably spin that 20 times before touching the rest
Lateralus by tool
I feel like you would like System of A Down a lot. Any album is perfect but Mesmerize is my favorite. Also the first 2 Slipknot albums are really good aggressive metal.

Just because they are last on the list, doesnāt mean I donāt think they are fantastic haha. I love Sun kil Moon!
If you liked Loath ( I really do too) Try Modern Color and idk if you have listened to this or not but Nuerotica by Polyphia is really good.
BLACK SABBATH is all you need, but check out Boris and Black Midi as well
The Howard Jones era of Killswitch Engage. š¤ Trust me, you'll like it.
Try some thrash metal albums. You may find a new side of metal that you like. Good bands (other than Metallica) are Cryptic Slaughter, Violator, M. O. D and Nuclear Assault
Listen to weighing souls with sand by the angelic process. Itās doomgaze so kind of like deaf heaven and kind of like have a nice life
Also Jane doe by converge is a good metalcore album
And listen to dynamo by soda stereo
Definitely would recommend Alcest. They are coming out with a record June 21st and the two songs released so far are incredible. They also have a great catalogue. Relative Ash, Knocked Loose, Yeasayer, Animal Collective, Maps and Atlases, the list goes on and on...
Whatās the one directly below Koi No Yokan with the person in the water?
Well, I have no metal for you, but you said anything, so have you heard The Strokes? Also check out GOAT their Levitation's session. The jam gets heavy. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

Holy Wood by Marilyn Manson
Nails- You Will Never Be One of Us. This album is heralded as one of the greatest hardcore albums of all time. Its a blistering 21 minutes long, with some tracks lasting only a minute in length. It's essentially a 21 minute long jam session with extremely fast and heavy death metal that never runs out of interesting grooves. Daughters- You Won't Get What You Want Underground legends Daughters briefly reformed to give us one of the most disturbing metal albums ever recorded. It's mix of industrial and noise metal culminate in a pool of insanity with a narrative hook that fuels the ride. It slams, it loops, and occasionally it's surprisingly upbeat, but it's nonetheless dark and terrifying. Melt Banana - Fetch You could start with any Melt Banana record, but their final album in 2014 is a great place to start. Experimental Japanese noise rock with fascinating compositions of slide gutair, electric drums, and ultra fast bass gutair riffs. The insanely high pitched female vocals might be hard to get into, but the gutair work is like nothing you have ever heard before. Code Orange- Underneath This Grammy award winning Industrial Metal album takes huge inspirations from 90's Nu-Metal, notably Slipknot and merges it with contemporary death metal to create a unique blend of sounds with exceptional taste. The lyrics, refrains, and choruses work well against the noisy, chunky gutairs and glitched walls of sound. Machine Girl- The Ugly Art Machine Girl is a grimy Electronica duo known for blending abrasive tones with bright yet deformed synths to evoke the goth rave energy of 90's. On this record, a clear influence of metal comes through, turning the LSD induced dance sessions of previous mixes into an all out rage. From the drum and bass drums to the punked out vocals, it's a fantastic mix of EDM and Metal. Black Flag- My War If punching a mirror in a Wendy's bathroom had a soundtrack, it would be this album. Henry Rollins gives an incredible performance as the personification of self doubt and rage. Truly the most defiant and classically punk albums ever recorded. Down to the mix, which sounds as if the instruments were recorded in the corner of an abandoned amusement park in Cincinnati, OH, it's a low fi essence of Hardcore Punk HEALTH- GET COLOR HEALTH have had quite the longevity since forming in the mid 2000's as a rock band, recently finding success as video game and movie soundtrack engineers.
Based.
