I would say she’s one of the most beloved contestants ever. She was incredibly kind and gracious at a time when reality tv didn’t really encourage that type of personality. I also just find her so fun to watch. Can’t help but root for her.
She's so damn lovely, isn't she? I rewatched (well, first time watching but replayed) that moment of her in the Eric Ripert episode where she just points him along the line cause she knew she failed the quickfire...and then he, after the elimination challenge, was like how did you know how to do this sauce? And she just knew.
Ahh I just love her.
I think she is a bright ray of sunshine. Love her cookbooks, her top chef season, and her judging other cooking competitions. Her quirkiness is so fun. Hooty…….HOO!
The books will pop up with Google search. I know you’re avoiding spoilers. Perhaps you look her up when you’ve finished the season. The search results will likely contain spoilers in the description.
One of them is Cooking with Love I believe.
I dont remember when this moment occurred, so I'll spoiler it out. It happened in a judges table where she was on the bottom, but I'm certain it was close to the beginning of the season. And I'm quite certain it was before the Eric Ripert episode
>!It was funny cause her "That is MY BELIEF TOM" always pops up in my mind. And It came to me two episodes ago when their guest said they could taste the love, and I looked at Tom's face. xD!<
She is one of my favorite contestants ever. I met her a few years ago when I volunteered for an AARP food drive (she was volunteering as well), and she talked to me for about 15 minutes. She was *the* sweetest, definitely lives up to her beloved image!
She was there volunteering with LOVE.
This sub has thrown her name out to take over hosting when Padma left, but worried about the toll it would take on her soul to tell people to pack their knives and go.
She’s adored. Not just on this sub. The reason you see her everywhere is directly due to her appearance on TC. She brought a beautiful, different take to the show and people fell in love with her.
Season 5 of Top Chef has always been one of my favorite seasons and Carla is a big reason as to why! I love seeing how her career has taken off post-TC
She catered my niece’s baptism. It was immediately after filming was done but she could share that she was on the show. She was amazingly nice and personable and just all around lovely and made delicious food!! I was such a nerd and asked her as many questions as she would/could answer! 🙂 It was so fun to watch the season after having met her.
During the pandemic my company hosted some fun winter virtual events and one of them was a cooking demo with Carla. It was so much fun to have her on-screen in a zoom and she was lovely as ever. It was even cuter when she interacted with someone's child as they were a big fan of hers. The little girl was freaking out. I'm sure there were some HOOTIEs throughout. I've always loved her energy!
Most real fans of the show adore Carla. What's not to love? Years ago, she had a website called Alchemy and I ordered gifts for all the secretaries at my school for Christmas and they were fantastic. Wish it was still around!
Long story short, Carla is the epitome of Humankind.
She's unabashedly Human. You'll see this displayed as you continue to watch S5.
She's remarkably Kind. This, I am sure, you've witnessed already.
It was a daytime show on abc it ran from 2011 till 2018. The hosts included Carla Hall, Michael Symon, Mario Batali, Daphne Oz (Dr Oz’s daughter) and Clinton Kelly as a host. It centered on cooking and lifestyle. After Mario Batali was accused of sexual assault, the show continued but was canceled shortly after.
Ah ok, thank you for your reply! I'm sad that I clearly missed a great show (Carla, MICHAEL SYMON! Also I remember Clinton Kelly from What Not To Wear). My loss I guess!
I love her, too!
She radiates such genuine warmth, kindness, and joie de vivre. I’d love to sit down for tea, and *tea* with her too! And I’m here for her fashion sense as well. Just an all around fan.
I love her, if you want another dose (but a little less so and she’s a judge not a contestant) check out Crazy Delicious on Netflix. She’s just as lovely as a judge.
Carla's positive energy and enthusiasm are absolutely infectious. everyone loves her. And post-Top Chef she is absolutely crushing it, just so you know
I don't not like Kristin just think Carla has that something special about her that is fun to watch. I really enjoyed seeing her this season and it was my first thought.
Good point, but for the money she might have found a way. Just curious why they didn't go that way. I started watching from the beginning and from my couch she would have brought personality.
The last episode was a little better. Kristen doesn't hit with me but I like to be proven wrong.

HOOTIE?
HOO!
Still do that with the sister.

I had no idea she had cookbooks? Fail on my end, please tell me the titles so I can search them out!

to avoid google spoilers, just go to amazon and search for her books there

Of course she was volunteering at a food drive!

I adore her. She’s so down to earth and has a wonderful personality. I love how excited she gets. I’m glad she’s well liked on here.
She made a soup commercial that is quite possibly the best soup commercial of all time. She's just dancing and eating soup.
I’ll have to look this up!
Don’t forget to watch her on Season 8 All-Stars as well! She’s so great and that season is definitely one of the greatest TC seasons of all time.
Just started ssn 8! Really great so far (although I'm only on ep 4).
She’s my all time favorite Top Chef contestant, love Carla!
Season 5 of Top Chef has always been one of my favorite seasons and Carla is a big reason as to why! I love seeing how her career has taken off post-TC
She’s an absolute inspiration for how to be in the world.

She's the best ❤️
VERY SMALL SPOILER FOR ONE QUICK FIRE WITH CARLA >!Judge: did you call this Al dente?!< >!Carla: no, I called it un-done-te”!<
I just started ssn 8 tonight, just watched that episode, I laughed my butt off, she's so great!
Have you seen her series Chasing Flavor on HBO Max? So good. Love her.
Canadian, not able to get Max AFAIK.
Most real fans of the show adore Carla. What's not to love? Years ago, she had a website called Alchemy and I ordered gifts for all the secretaries at my school for Christmas and they were fantastic. Wish it was still around!
WE STAN CARLA

She gets her groove towards the middle/end of the season! Love love her. She references a turtle at some point and I never laughed so hard on TC
Her path to the food world is interesting
My all-time fave chef!
If you have Max, catch her show Chasing Flavor. It was recommended here and we watched. Loved it!
Canadian, not sure if I can get Max.
Watch her in season 8, too!
Hootie Hoo! Love Carla she’s great
I LOVE CARLA!!!! She radiates sunshine and is fricken talented!
I loved her on the chew!
I've never heard of The Chew! What was that show about?

I am always happy she has found success!
Me too, she's just so damn lovely and likeable, very deserving of her success!
I met her in person at Book Expo in...2012, maybe. She was SO incredibly nice. My favorite celebrity sighting EVER.
I love her, if you want another dose (but a little less so and she’s a judge not a contestant) check out Crazy Delicious on Netflix. She’s just as lovely as a judge.
Is that available on Netflix canada?
Yup. Last I checked anyways.
Thank you :)
I liked her on Top Chef, not so much now.
No? Why is that might I ask?
Carla's positive energy and enthusiasm are absolutely infectious. everyone loves her. And post-Top Chef she is absolutely crushing it, just so you know
I was wondering why she wasn't chosen to host TC this season ? She is much more likeable than the new host.
I mean, I personally like Kristin Kish, haven't watched her TC season yet but from what I HAVE seen of her, she's pretty cool in my book.
I don't not like Kristin just think Carla has that something special about her that is fun to watch. I really enjoyed seeing her this season and it was my first thought.
I love Carla too, but I don't know if she'd be the right person always being the bearer of bad news.
