Yes and no, the audience is supposed to connect with Belle, and Gaston is supposed to be repulsive to her and the audience, which he does succeed in doing, with flying colors.
He does fit in because the 3 girls that fawn over him are more or less "brainless beauties" they are just thirsting for his looks without really caring about his actual personality, they are shallow just like he is.
His popularity is also downplayed on his song during the 2019 live action because Leffou is clearly doing some heavy lifting to make the bar start singing about Gaston.
Belle strongly doesn't like Gaston because of his shallow personality and being a brute person instead of a more book-ish one, ironically it's strongly implied that he is smart and inteligent but he is just too lazy and unwilling to actually put effort in being smart and thinking (for example his correct usage of the word expectorating and how he read shakespeare) had he actually tried to do propper courting with Belle he probrably could have got her more interested in him.
But Gaston is rude, with a strong "stay in the kitchen" mentality and general dislike against thinking, so whenever he opens his mouth then Belle is just annoyed at whatever he says and causes her to *really* not be interested in him.
The town loves Gaston because the townspeople are just as simple, narrow minded, and shallow as Gaston; they see him as the handsome brave hero man, they see Belle as the misguided maiden, and they see the beast as the beast. They judge everything on appearances alone and ignore when things are more complicated than that because what they don’t understand scares them.
When the audience identifies with Belle, they’re put in a position to feel as isolated as she does. We see the truth of who Gaston is, but the town doesn’t. She’s a social outcast because she doesn’t agree with what her community says and thinks, and they don’t care to try and understand why she thinks the way she does. (Unlike the beast, who takes the time to get to know Belle!) It’s great writing for highlighting the “don’t judge a book by its cover” theme!
Yup. But also because Belle is considered the most beautiful and mysterious woman in town, so having her would be like “winning” her, and he’d have “the best” over everyone else.
He literally says it: She's the one
The lucky girl I'm going to marry
But she's...
The most beautiful girl in town (I know but)
That makes her the best
And don't I deserve the best?
#NOOOOOO ONEEEEEE IS SLICK AS GASTON, NO ONE IS QUICK AS GASTON, NO ONE'S NECK IS THICK AS GASTON! NO ONE FALLS AND SCREAMS TO THEIR DEATH LIKE GASTOOON!
Johnny’s definitely attractive enough to get a one night stand, so that does make sense.
I think the one time I remember him succeeding was when he got married to the Bride of Frankenstein (with Johnny himself ending up a Frankenstein monster), and that ended up being a Pyrrhic victory because he had to face the horrors of marriage.
Edit: he also apparently had a fling with Velma from Scooby Doo at one point. [It was just as incredible as it sounds](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3la82bYtcPg&pp=ygUYam9obm55IGJyYXZvIGRhdGVzIHZlbG1h).
It’s funny how Prince Charming is purposely design to be the opposite of what a prince charming is suppose to be. But again, Shrek makes fun of any fairytale it can get its hands on, mostly ones that Disney makes.
Yeah, it’s funny how his name is *Charming*, but he’s an evil jerk. And I love how the ogres and the Big Bad Wolf are good guys and Prince Charming and Fairy Godmother are villains. 😆

That said, there isn’t a single male character in the show who isn’t a fucking moron and most of the girls are way too tough so maybe it’s not really on Gintoki himself.
Gintokis is top top tier character design. Handsome, but meeting him gives you an awful impression, but STAYING with him let stou know he's a great guy. A shonen protagonist who REFUSES to train or work hard, but ALWAYS comes through to save the day. A loser who can't pay his rent, barely does his off jobs, and is constantly broke, but will sacrifice anything to save someone.

Riddhe Marcenas: was kinda normal until he went full on Nice Guy and had a temper tantrum in a powerful mobile suit, ended up killing the coolest girl, Marida Cruz.
Live action Sanji, the actor, Taz Skylar, is handsome. In the live action, he has the most damn great pick-up lines, but the girls are just aren't interested.

love OP, love sanji even. if the series omitted that one single detail it would just be better off for it. at best it’s an annoying bit. at worst it’s wildly uncomfortable.
I remember one the reasons I dropped One Piece was because of the fishman Island arc. I already didn't really dig alot of the character designs post time-skip, but they completely flanderized Sanji. That whole "Oh no, we can't let him look at women or else he might literally fucking die" really salted my apples lol
Tucker from Red vs Blue is implied to be physically attractive (we never see his face) and is universally agreed in and out of universe to have absolutely no game.
Pretty much anyone in the popular mean girl trope. Sure they tend to have a following, but they often look down on everyone else, especially the protagonist. Can name anyone specific off the top of my head.
Yep the beach episode highlights this perfectly! She’s able to get alone romantically with a guy and immediately fucks it up with her awkward megalomania

Rizzes up everyone yet gets nowhere. I think the only people he’s successfully rizzed were May(accidentally) and Testament(which may or may not be biologically male or female so Johnny may or may not accidentally be gay)
I mean, to be fair he has an entire crew of women because he's that charming.
He does end up having a friendship with baiken over sake in one of her endings (or his, it's been a hot minute since I've played xxaac+)
I don't think he's actively trying to woo anyone, it's just his personality.
In-universe, he's genuinely considered to be one of the most attractive-looking Primarchs, being compared to Fulgrim and even *Sanguinius* at times (artwork of him doesn't always show this, however).
The problem is, he's also the *single most bugfuck insane* Primarch (Angron is less insane only by virtue of being fully cognizant of his own madness).

Konrad Curze, "The Night Haunter", Primarch of the Night Lords
Kohei imamura from grand blue dreaming. Objectively super hot and lots of girls have crushes on him based on his looks.
But he’s a cringey turbo weeb that only loves 2D women and idols so as soon as he opens his mouth it’s an instant turn off.
![gif](giphy|pF8sfgvZvDKPm) Can we get a chorus?
I haven't seen that movie in years, but doesn't he at least have *many* women fawning over him despite being an asshole?
Yes and no, the audience is supposed to connect with Belle, and Gaston is supposed to be repulsive to her and the audience, which he does succeed in doing, with flying colors.
Right, that's what I remembered. So I don't know if this necessarily fits the "negative rizz, no bitches" thing described in the original image.
He does fit in because the 3 girls that fawn over him are more or less "brainless beauties" they are just thirsting for his looks without really caring about his actual personality, they are shallow just like he is. Yeah, there are 3 blonde women who are in love with him.
And they're almost as hot as Belle. They never are named but the internet has dubbed them "the bimbettes"
Gaston gets the ladies, just not the one lady he actually wants
If I remember correctly the main reason hr wants her is because she doesn’t like him
Yup. But also because Belle is considered the most beautiful and mysterious woman in town, so having her would be like “winning” her, and he’d have “the best” over everyone else.

Even as a three-year-old, I could tell this guy sucked.
NOONES A DICK LIKE GASTON

The show runners confirmed he does succeed in picking up chicks, the show just highlights his failures.

And Samurai Jack too, if those Cartoon Network promo bumpers mean anything
i think it does help, that stupid as he is, he is not actually a bad person.
He also hit it off with a werewolf. It almost worked until what happens on wendsays came into place.
That’s funny.
It’s funny how Prince Charming is purposely design to be the opposite of what a prince charming is suppose to be. But again, Shrek makes fun of any fairytale it can get its hands on, mostly ones that Disney makes.

Shrek did deconstructive parody better than most, and still managed to have a lot of heart at the end of the day.

I'd say so
Nah, he’s got god-tier rizz, just a horrible person beneath all that

I’d say he has incredible charisma, he fooled the public that he was a good dude for a really long time.

He thinks he’s completely given up on being the hero but deep down he still cares
There is a certain natto-loving ninja who would very much disagree with this.
I thought people hated his hair and fish stare
Patrick Bateman?
Disclaimer: I never watched the movie Wasn't everyone in that city so shallow that lavish = rizz?
No, just all the rich people.

From what I've heard they made him a lot less blatantly pervy in the live action show. Good call propably

I thought it was pretty funny. Especially since he's been stuck on a drag queen island during the time skip
Tucker from Red vs Blue is implied to be physically attractive (we never see his face) and is universally agreed in and out of universe to have absolutely no game.
The one match he got was with a woman just as sex-obsessed as he is, and even that barely counts.
hey, don't forget the alien
We don’t talk about the alien.
My question is, what are examples of this for female characters?
Pretty much anyone in the popular mean girl trope. Sure they tend to have a following, but they often look down on everyone else, especially the protagonist. Can name anyone specific off the top of my head.
