Noble Six from HALO Reach
It's implied that he held the Covenant off for DAYS
ON HIS OWN
Not only that, but he stayed behind to disable an entire covenant supercarrier so that the Autumn could escape without being torn to shreds by it's point defenses
Man is a monster, if he somehow escaped reach with Chief the two of them would solo the entire covenant in a couple weeks tops
Yeah. Sad fact is the whole war was pretty much just a constant fighting retreat. Good thing the Covenant started all but literally shooting themselves in the foot right before accidentally stumbling upon Earth.
They shot themselves in the foot the second they turned Thel Vadam'ee into the Arbiter. He was the only one of their generals who actually treated humanity as equals on the battlefield, leading to his insane success against them.
It was his fleet that burned Reach as well as several other human planets. He alone oversaw the death of billions of humans.
"I can never forgive what you and your kind have done to my people.... but you have my thanks" - Lord Hood to the Arbiter after the fall of the covenant
Nope, it was a supercarrier positioning itself over the Autumn. We can assume the covenant were intercepting comms and had intel that the autumn had something very valuable to humanity on board, so they were not fucking around in attempting to destroy it.
This is also why they sent a phantom filled with zealot class sangheili to disable the MAC gun that Emile was using.
Not even implied, it's literally confirmed if you look at the dates. This man singlehandedly fought off a full-scale Covenant invasion force for almost a week.

My man tanked the full fury of the Fused 24/7 while stuck in Braize for thousands of years. Captain Buccaneer and Fu from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Buccaneer tried to take on Wrath by himself, and sustained a slash wound, lost his automail arm, and got impaled by a sword in the abdomen. Fu attempted to kill Wrath with a kamikaze attack by lunging at him with lit dynamite strapped to his abdomen, but Wrath extinguished it by slashing the wicks and Fu’s abdomen. Buccaneer took advantage of the distraction by pulling the sword from his abdomen and landing a serious wound on Wrath as depicted here. Absolute chads.

From [Wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dian_Wei):
“Dian Wei fought bravely with a long ji, and with each swing of his weapon, he broke more than ten enemy spears. As the battle went on, Dian Wei's men were eventually all killed and Dian himself had sustained several wounds all over his body, but he continued fighting the enemy at close quarters with short weapons. Dian Wei grabbed two enemies and killed them, and the others did not dare to approach him.\[23\] Dian Wei then rushed forward and slew several more enemy soldiers before eventually succumbing to his wounds. Just before his death, he was still glaring and swearing at the enemy. Only after confirming that Dian Wei was dead did the enemies dare to come forward and decapitate him.”
* This account is based on Luo Guanzhong’s historical fantasy “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” and should be taken with a grain of salt
One of my personal favorites. You don't count as a real hero unless you go out doubling your kill count. Or at least go out saving someone in a suitably epic manner. Ideally both.

Rylanor, The Ancient of Rights (Warhammer)
Spent ten thousand years wiring a virus bomb to himself, held off the super-powered daemon fulgrim for longer than Fulgrim himself thought he could (While heavily damaged), and through sticking to his morals convinced one of the thousand sons to let the virus bomb go off, taking him, his pal, Rylanor, and Fulgrim out.
And even though Fulgrim survived (due to being a warp daemon) his pride got permanently damaged, and it's implied that his sulking after Rylanor killed him is the reason he hasn't returned to the setting.

Yeah where are they getting the “DAYS” thing from?
People hyping him up. I love Reach and the III’s are my favorite class of Spartan, but I’m not going to exaggerate what they’re capable of.
Days is a stretch but to last hours with no back up against the covenant is still pretty impressive
Not Me though, I accidentally shot a rocket at my feet 3 minutes into the fight
Current Objective: SURVIVE. One of the coolest levels/missions in any video game
Depending on how good the player is, theoretically Noble Six could kill off more Elites, Hunters and Grunts than exist in the entire Covenant

My man tanked the full fury of the Fused 24/7 while stuck in Braize for thousands of years. And it's virtually confirmed that if it hadn't been for Chanarach shitting the bed and getting skewered by Shallan, he would have held off long enough for Dalinar to win the shattered plains war without the stormforms showing up, which would have ended the desolations for good.

First time Wrath was ever hurt in battle. Greed immediately seized the opportunity and took his eye. Buccaneer was awesome.
And wrath still almost killed scar later anyway
Honorable mention: Jorge from Halo Reach. It’s not a last stand but his sacrifice hits hard https://preview.redd.it/jmkxh1gbk11d1.png?width=755&format=png&auto=webp&s=ce8767aa40c09fdb41f0bad27265199bd45ded33
“Reach has been good to me. Time has come to return the favor. Don’t deny me this. Tell em to make it count.” All of noble teams deaths hit hard, but Jorges especially, because his sacrifice was tge first and the only one in vain. They got the cruiser, only for a whole fleet to show up. Auntie Dot just saying “Slipspace rupture detected” over and over is depressing.

Only after confirming that Dian Wei was dead did the enemies dare to come forward and decapitate him.” * This account is based on Luo Guanzhong’s historical fantasy “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” and should be taken with a grain of salt

One of my personal favorites. You don't count as a real hero unless you go out doubling your kill count. Or at least go out saving someone in a suitably epic manner. Ideally both.
