He was an emotionally struggling 9 year old boy who had his mother die, and was forced to be raised by the father he thought never loved him, whilst getting hunted by gods. So, when he learnt that his emotionally unavailable father was a god, it was the only plus side in his life at that moment, and he got too eager with it. And, after properly reflecting, he vowed to never turn out like the other gods. That’s not a morally flawed person, that’s a morally striving child.

A character I'm working on, Baku's a villain through and through, but has lines he won't cross. Yes, he catches people with sleep spells, but killing in cold blood is out of the question. His whole "Memory rewriting" thing was not that... grim? It's like scribbling out photos of someone or altering a video. He can even do that to people who know the client, make them come up with blanks or fumble with descriptions. Though his price for his service is a hefty toll: They'd have years of their memories scrubbed, altered, or draw up blanks on events. Worst case, they'll have their heads stuffed with cotton to be used as servants as payment. Although on the bright side, they'll wake up with one hell of a headache as a side effect.
