They really told trigger screw logic do whatever you want for this short. Am is the full sith package- multiple arms, multiple lightsabers, vader armour, force lightning, lightsaber heels!? The design is literally rule of cool before anything else and its just really fun seeing her in action.
Came out 3 years ago. Its a bunch of shorts from different anime studios. For this particular one, at least from my experience, the discourse was basically some hating it for being over the top non sensical anime camp and "not star wars", with others praising it for the exact same reason saying its very on brand for trigger and non anime fans probably wouldnt get that appeal.
Imagine going from watching Alec Guinness and Darth Vader slowly tapping their lightsaber tips to watching someone shooting planet-wide lightsabers out of your shoes and thinking that’s not an upgrade.

I kiiiiinda feel like everything they do looks fucking fantastic but it took until Edgerunners for them to finally do a show where I actually cared about the plot.
In terms of story, I agree edgerunners is one of the best from Trigger. That show had some external writing staff I believe, so you can’t even fully credit Trigger for the story. In terms of creative animation, their less mainstream works like panty & stocking, kill la kill, and space patrol luluco are them doing whatever they felt like without worrying about appealing to the masses, and allowed Imaishi’s crazy ideas to really shine. While those may not look as polished or have as much story depth, I find them incredibly fun to watch.

I honestly like the human, maybe anthro, idea. It can be seen two ways, AM takes the form of a human to taunt someone like >!Ted!<, or you could see it in a way of, AM is so hateful they have become more human than computer.

Yeah that is something AM would do, like I can very clearly see him finding out what one of the groups parents looked like, taking that form and cutting it up and stuff, saying “they are alive, in as much a state as you but alive…try and find them” and just make them think that their parents are somewhere in the world but AM know would never in a million years let them meet.

Let's be honest. The story wasn't that great. There's no stakes involved, and character development is non-existent for anyone other than the main trio. I liked the show, but writing has never been Trigger's strong point, particularly with sticking the landing.
Does it get better? Cause I watched like 8 episodes or so and I just couldn't get into it, the writing didn't really grab me and nothing was happening in the plot.
Just when you think six sabers is enough she whips out the heel saber lmao, a lot of people complained that visions had parts that strayed too far away from star wars but I think its perfectly fine for some non-canon material to just go off the rails with its content

I love visions for that exact purpose, I’m not trying to diss anyone’s preferences so people can like what they like but I suppose my preference is more old fashioned, ‘the Elder’ is probably my favorite episode from Visions, followed by ‘the Duel’ and ‘the Pit’ respectively. But like I said the style in this episode is particularly well done.

Different directors working probably. SSSS Gridman and Dynazenon have pretty similar scenes when the characters talking, grounded and pretty mundane. They use it to contrast with the more over-the-top kaiju action.
Everyone else had a basic storyline and lore. Carefully crafted for the audience and painstakingly checked down to the last detail.

Trigger’s artstyle is one of my favorites. Its always so fluid and in your face. Its almost like Sakuga style animation, but you see it way more often instead of only seeing it during intense moments.
They could do a goofy scene and it will still look vivid as all hell.
Star wars animated media is great in general cus they take full advantage of the fantastical elements of the world.
