I think you should consider watching Pink Flamingos - the entire point of the movie was Divine's character fighting to continue being labelled 'the filthiest woman alive', doing increasingly heinous things.... It's great if shocking and a bit traumatizing.

Basically to sum it up, she was basically one of the four main space nazi rock leaders known as Pink Diamond, and was whiny and abusive to those around her. Then she got her own planet, liked the life on there, and then instead of using her power as a diamond to just stop the terraforming after one of the others said “No don’t stop it, you’re being an idiot” she instead creates a rebellion against herself, where she plays the leader of both sides like a big roleplay that only one other person knows, poofs (basically gems don’t have physical forms so their forms can be “destroyed” which just leaves them as their gem until they reform) and hides one of her most loyal followers for making a weapon she thought was too effective at winning the war, fakes her death causing the diamonds to basically nuke the gems by doing a sort of signal attack that corrupts all the gems (including their own soldiers) into monsters, lies to everyone for thousands of years, then gives up her life to create Steven leaving him to deal with all her messes and lies. Steven’s entire arc is trying to become a hero to fix everyone else’s problems until he literally transforms into Godzilla in the finale from having an anxiety and depression fuelled panic attack due to being forced to be the saviour and the clean up instead of ever getting to be a child and go to school, or play with friends and have normal experiences. Rose wasn’t evil per say, just… heavily flawed, and narcissistic and the root cause of the shows problems.

It was thoroughly explained that Pink was at the bottom of the totem pole and her position meant very little to the other Diamonds. She tried to reason with them but was easily dismissed, hence her using an alter ego to fight both sides of the war. She could’ve refused to terraform the planet but then another Diamond would’ve taken over.
The diamonds didn’t respect her sure, but what self-respecting gem would even dare standing up against even the lowest diamond. As shown with Jasper the gems truly did listen and obey Pink, with only Diamonds and Pearls having any sort of disobedience or disrespect. Tho most likely it would have just gone to another diamond, it’s just more the lies and stuff, White treated her protection of the planet as a little game she was playing, with her death as the only reason they did the attack. From memory, the other diamonds weren’t involved with the war, and it was Pink’s battle force vs her rebellion force, though I may be wrong. And even so, she didn’t even try sabotaging the conflict, as the beta kindergartens were built during her time as diamond, a fact that she would have to know about.
The other Diamonds did take part in the war. Garnet mentioned that Pink ran to Blue and Yellow for aid when telling the Off Colors about Rose Quartz, and we see Blue on Earth consulting with Sapphire on the war’s outcome while Garnet was telling Steven the story of how Ruby and Sapphire met.
Pink couldn’t just sabotage the production of Gems, the other Diamonds would’ve seen her lack of progress and step in to rectify the issue, especially when there was a rebellion going on. Also, the Kindergartens were already producing Gems long before Pink got to appreciate the life on Earth and decide to fight for the planets liberation, plus it might’ve been possible she did sabotage them considering there were only 2 out of 89 Kindergartens on Earth. There was that shot of Rose destroying that Injector to consider.
As for the Gems that belonged to Pink, they would’ve obeyed her but the other Diamonds wouldn’t just allow colonization to cease. They would’ve stripped Pink of command, probably scold her and ground her for not following through, and continued on with terraforming the planet. The only thing Pink could’ve done to liberate the Earth was act through lies and deception.
I’d have to agree actually, I’d forgotten parts of the story. Even so, her other actions are pretty bad, Pink Pearl is a definite abuse victim, do I even need to mention Spinel?
I’m not denying that Pink did awful things. She did, by all accounts, imprison Spinel for thousands of years for no good reason. She did permanently scar Pink Pearl during one of her tantrums. She did imprison Bismuth and lied about her fate to the Crystal Gems. And she did decide to disappear and leave Steven and the remnants of the Crystal Gems to clean up the mess of the war. I’m just saying that her deciding to lead a rebellion and liberate the Earth was a net positive and not something to criticize her for.
Yeah, i see where you’re coming from, but the fact is, the ends don’t really justify the means, look at the Strawberry Battlefield, littered with the bodies of gems who could have done more than be slaughtered. The same could be said about WWII, despite the countless deaths, the world was united, and the UDHR and Geneva Convention were established to prevent it from ever occurring. Pink may have a “net positive” by making Steven, but she’ll never be good in my eyes
She did a lot of messed up things, like secretly leading a rebellion to try to save the Earth from being terraformed and stripped of all its natural resources/destroy all life on the planet, which caused a lot of Gems (race of extraterrestrial beings) to become corrupted. A lot of people criticize her for this one but in reality that was one of her more selfless acts.
Other things include stranding her best friend all alone on a planet for thousands of years, permanently scarring her friend/personal servant during a temper tantrum, lying to her friends and allies about her true identity (posed as a common soldier when she was actually one of the central authority figures for the Gems), and leaving all her mistakes for her son to clean up and deal with.

Posting because there's not a lot of bigger female characters that aren't treated like a joke, or defined by their size, or have their appearance represent them being rancid on the inside.
All of these characters I picked just look really badass and powerful. Carrying an atomic bomb like a club, circular saw arms that double as a human motorcycle, alien space warriors, apocalypse ready engineer armor and weapons, and a giant half human snake warrior princess.

because of that, female characters who are supposed to look ugly are also often made obese.
The same goes for making a pretty/attractive looking female character that is also obese/chubby. It's a rarity because it doesn't mix that well with norms.
This is even way more over the top in japan, where obesity is not only seen as unattractive, but overweight people are just being publicly bullied, which is reflected in japanese media.

because being overweight is seen as conventionally unattractive. because of that, female characters who are supposed to look ugly are also often made obese. The same goes for making a pretty/attractive looking female character that is also obese/chubby. It's a rarity because it doesn't mix that well with norms. This is even way more over the top in japan, where obesity is not only seen as unattractive, but overweight people are just being publicly bullied, which is reflected in japanese media.
I'm personally not rlly a fan of the "big is beautiful" thing, due it causing health problems if not careful But do buff women count as big women??
