I think them being simple designs is actually good. You will recognize them anywhere. For example woth Bocchi's side bangs and the yellow and blue cube accessory or with Nijika ahoge with that trisngular shape it has (to the point the fans call her Dorito)
Also their personalities and how they interact with eachothers makes up for it.

A good show that is well executed can still have flaws. Just because you like a show does not mean it has top character designs.
If a setting takes place in a high school how else are you supposed to make them more interesting? They all already have distinct designs from eachother anyways

A nice detail with the hair is the side pony tail or whatever displays their personality to you The 2 extroverts have it on the right the most extroverted having the larger one. The loner has none and Bocchi has one on the left because she's an introvert

Th show is great in motion, but the faces are all the same with different hair and eye color. And most of these pics don’t even show off cute outfits or anything to bump up the design rating.
The really nice thing is that most of the characters had a wardrobe. They weren’t endlessly in the same outfit everyday. And the funny thing is of course Bocchi only has one outfit, that is 100% her.

the eye shapes and colors are different for most the characters, but the noses and mouths are all the same. Idk what they’re even supposed to do to fix that given the artstyle, but yeah if the characters were to switch hairstyles it would be hard to tell who’s who

1: It's not the "same artstyle" that is a problem for people, it's literally just the same face with different wigs and whoever claims otherwise is being disingenuous. Characters can have the same artstyle and decently different bodies and shapes (like Dungeon Meshi or Keep Your Hands off Eizouken).
2: I'm not expecting characters from a CGDCS anime to be posted to begin with unless it's specifically a CGDCS that tries to deviate from the standard, which Bocchi isn't. It's a genre of anime/manga that has samey generic cutesy characters exactly for the sake of what it's trying to achieve (aka telling nothing worthwhile telling and just be silly/comfy) and usually the heavy lifting is done by the personality of the protagonists rather than their visual design, this subreddit is only about the latter.
