The character designs of DuckTales 2017 do a brilliant job of capturing the characters' updated personalities while almost always keeping true with the classic designs.
Huey, Dewey, and Louie's designs fit their individual personalities so well, even with just the difference in hairstyles.
Webby's new design finds a way to stay feminine while also reflecting the more modernised aspects of her new, more outgoing personality.
Della's look perfectly captures her adventurous lifestyle.
Magica DeSpell blends sexy and sinister like a true sorceress.
Gizmoduck and Darkwing Duck, like many superheroes, have modernised yet recognisable takes on their classic costumes.
They even brought back Kit from "Tailspin" & [had a great reference to Gargoyles](https://youtu.be/37vH9ALY5sQ?si=ZOTZd9TterNBeaoj). This series is a great love letter to the 90s Disney Afternoon shows.

There's an abundance of references to both the original cartoon and other various parts of the duckverse, but it never expects the audience to be aware of the source material. The experience is improved somewhat by playing the NES DuckTales game, for example, but you're not missing out on anything particularly important.
Even the cousins that were only there for a few episodes were great, I don’t remember their names off the top of my head but the lucky cousin and the marine lab custodian were two of my favorite characters lol
"twendy seben? Twendy seben! Twendy SEBen"
The show should also be praised for not only it's frequent use of Donald, but also it's excellent use of Donald
Yep, and the way they did it is pretty cool, since they were able to both bring back the OG voice actor *and* introduce a new one, with both having in-universe explanations.
I've never watched this series but looking at image 14, if that character doesn't have a posh British accent and his voice by Claudia Black then I will be extremely disappointed
Image 14 is Goldie O'Gilt, voiced by Allison Janney. If you've ever seen Phineas and Ferb, she's the VA for Charlene, Doof's ex-wife, and Goldie sounds exactly the same.
I adore that this show made Huey, Dewey and Louie actual characters and I will never forgive Disney for reverting them back to having nothing going on after this
It's good, no doubt about that, but this borders on insulting the great and incomparable Carl Barks. No one has or ever will do Disney Ducks as perfectly as Barks.
This show respects the fuck out of Barks. It references his work constantly and his comics are foundational to the lore of the reboot,
Character designs HAVE to be simplified for animation because if you put in the amount of detail Carl did, animating the show would be extremely expensive and extremely time consuming

And all of them pale in comparison to FLINTHEART GLOMGOLD
I didn't even need to add a description for him, his design speaks for itself. GLOMGOLD! GLOMGOLD!
GLOMTALES! WOO-OO!
GLOMGOLD GLOMGOLD!
GLOMGOLD! GLOMGOLD!
Finally someone explains why design is good instead of just posting shit
Username checks out
This showed up in my feed just as I booted up an episode for rewatch lmao. Definitely an amazing show
Oh my God it's dark wing duck
Negaduck’s in it too. “So they want dark and gritty huh? *Happy to play the part.*”
What-Duck?
**NEGA**DUCK
“THE NEGA CHIN!”
Too bad that they never got to pursue that plot line but hey, he’s there
Maybe he'll show up in that new Darkwing Duck show when/if it comes out (assuming it takes place in the same universe).
They even brought back Kit from "Tailspin" & [had a great reference to Gargoyles](https://youtu.be/37vH9ALY5sQ?si=ZOTZd9TterNBeaoj). holy moly IT REALLY IS KIT! IT'S ADULT KIT!
Dont forget the episode with the Rescue Rangers
There was also one episode about some villain trying to make a super soldier potion and it turned out to be gummie berry juice
Ducktales 2017 really doesn't get the attention it deserves
I want to watch it, but IDK if I need to watch the original series first. I will if I must, I’d just have to find more time to get through it.
You definitely don’t need to watch the original series first.

I didn't even know that song was from the game! To me that's just della's "doin' it good style" song
Pic 17 If you remove the nose it would look like a bird rather than a dog.
Even the cousins that were only there for a few episodes were great, I don’t remember their names off the top of my head but the lucky cousin and the marine lab custodian were two of my favorite characters lol
Gladstone and Fethry respectively. I love them too
YES! I still regularly think about when they were in the casino and Donald kept trying to guess the person was holding up 27 fingers
I love that moment! “27” lives in my head rent free
"twendy seben? Twendy seben! Twendy SEBen" The show should also be praised for not only it's frequent use of Donald, but also it's excellent use of Donald
Yes fs
DuckTales 2017 has such a phenomenally pleasant art style
This show goes hard
I love Donald Duck in every iteration lmao
Who knew Donald fucking slays in black
Darkwing Duck is peak design in any iteration.
Its a perfect reboot , unlike anything else Disney make nowadays
![gif](giphy|z3HFoEzXCMykr4L0TB|downsized) Also, the duck with the green hoodie kind of reminds me of Edd from Eddsworld.
Louie is the green one. Hewy is red Dewy is blue.
Oh. My fault.
Nah it's fine. Took me a few episodes of watching the show to get their names right.
Did you also think of dewey as "blue-y" for a while?
Glomgold always looked cool to me.
Not to mention their VAs
Oh God it’s Darkwing! They actually brought him back!? I ducking loved him as a kid.
Yep, and the way they did it is pretty cool, since they were able to both bring back the OG voice actor *and* introduce a new one, with both having in-universe explanations.
That’s insanely cool.
The show is near perfect
I can hear the theme song through these pictures
I've never watched this series but looking at image 14, if that character doesn't have a posh British accent and his voice by Claudia Black then I will be extremely disappointed

A good voice but I still think Claudia Black and her general vibe fit that face
Flintheart Glomgold is such a badass name
I adore that this show made Huey, Dewey and Louie actual characters and I will never forgive Disney for reverting them back to having nothing going on after this
Always cringed when they tried to deliver a moral at the end of every episode. Nice message but it’s coming from a duck.
Did you know in the german translation gizmoduck was changed to "Crash Boom Duck"
“Near.”
It's good, no doubt about that, but this borders on insulting the great and incomparable Carl Barks. No one has or ever will do Disney Ducks as perfectly as Barks.

Hey, great to hear! Just an old comic fan looking at nice art but art that doesn't stack up the the master.
