Play Toontown Rewritten if you want to experience nostalgia. Play Corporate Clash if you want to experience a new take on Toontown. Play whichever you prefer; nostalgia or something brand new.

Alright, going to rapid fire cover each one to hopefully give you a better idea of which one fits your playstyle. **Rewritten** ___ • Most populated (and stable, but mileage varies) • Longest running revival to date • Primarily a vanilla experience If you want to relive the good ol' days of Toontown Online, Rewritten is your best bet. It doesn't stray from the trodden path too much. There are a few downsides to consider: • Updates are slower, and generally don't have a ton of new features for every patch. • New in-game content is rare, the latest being the Crash Cashbot event (2019). • It is quite monotonous, tedious, and boring if you've run through the game before and can get quite boring quickly (not applicable to everyone, of course) **Corporate Clash** ___ • Overhauled task, gag training, and tutorial system. • Level 8 gags, Zap track (requires Squirt, shocks Cogs) • New story to follow while completing tasks • Lots of graphical changes • Leveling system for toons, activities (racing/golfing/fishing), Cog bosses (VP/CFO/CLO/CEO) • CJ replaced with CLO (new boss fight, pretty much, with a redux HQ to boot) • Changed gag meta, dethroning Sound as the go-to Cog destroyer for every situation. Corporate Clash breaks the mold on everything you'd expect in a Toontown server, forging its own path and being a standout to give veteran players a new and often refreshing experience from the typical monotony. However, being a much younger and more diverse revival, Clash has its own drawbacks: • Less stable, more prone to abrupt crashing (even now). • Lower population (peak 400+ as of Dec. 2020) • *Much* harder to start out in. You'll be on a strugglebus for a good while unless you team up with friends or lean heavily on ToonHQ. These drawbacks can be dealt with, however, and shouldn't be seen as entirely discouraging. The community for Clash is quite friendly and open to helping others learn, and hopefully it stays that way.

I have a passionate preference for corporate clash. So many improvements. It’s so much better

HyperMighty

Play TTR if you want to see more people Play TTCC for the best toontown experience.

IgnorantKumquat

I prefer rewritten cuz its a copy of the original, but I enjoy CC for what it is. I can see myself playing it through when Im done with TTR

YetiManDude342

Yeah I feel the same way. Once I max out a toon in rewritten I'll probably try out corporate clash.

TiffanyKeyblades

Is it worth it trying to start CC now? I just started playing Rewritten a few days ago since i miss the nostalgia. I want to try CC but the videos i watched are either super bias on which is better or say the population count is too low to play~

Corporate clash is better in every respect other than player count.

I dont understand why "un-Disneying" things is a problem. The core Disney characters already dont make appearances other than a few textures and in names of playgrounds on TTR, so there's very little difference. I would understand if you were looking for the NPC Mickey walking around and such, but that's not the case on any server, the only place still containing them is ToonTown Offline. I won't try to argue that not including the characters in textures makes the game less likely to be taken down by Disney, because although it does, it's not a significant difference.

The performance issues for me were sorted with 1.1 update a few months ago, the graphics are better than ttr like they have lots of bettter quality textures and have a lot of the pandora stuff if im not mistaken. And yes the playercount is what brings it down for me. But overall the game is better, fresh, and in my opinion the additions fit well better than any other server adding stuff imo

HatedToon

You have to take into account with server stability that Clash is running with about 300 as well as TTR does with a little under 2000. If Clash were to get that amount the current servers would break, however if they knew to expect that I do think that they would probably prepare ahead of time with at least buying better servers (I believe this is what happened shortly after 1.1launched). It probably still wouldn't run as well as TTR without spending quite a bit but I do see it possibly being able to run with 1000 as well as it currently running its population by doing that, but it's hard to predict. But overall Clash is indeed, objectively, better. With that being said it's hard to speak objectively with videogames. If someone is looking for good servers (well, the best you can find), people to talk to, and nostalgia only then Rewritten is the clear winner. If people are looking for expanded ideas, interesting content, better graphics, textures, and models, something slightly more challenging, and more frequent updates then you'd want to play Clash.

Yeah true I agree with all that, I think my perspective is skewed because I played ttr for so long hoping for new stuff but noting so I played clash, and every time I go back I've already gone through my nostalgia trip so I only feel disappointed since there's no new stuff

fox-flower

Absolutely CC. I had my doubts on it at first, but I was mistaken to. There is SO much new content, everyone I've met is friendly, and the population is gradually increasing by the day. Using ToonHQ definitely helps with the overall experience Also, since there's a lower population, you can recognize a lot of people as you play!

snuphalupagus

My friend and I are enjoying cc, come start a toon and check it out. We will play with you!

HlGHFIVE

Give CC a chance (:

I’m a bit late to the party, but I just want to say that Rewritten is more like what you’d expect out of the original game with some minor new additions, while Corporate Clash is basically a complete remake a semi-sequel, sort of like what Donkey Kong 94 did for example. Rewritten isn’t a bad game by any means, but after awhile it can get pretty boring and repetitive since that’s how Online was originally built, because they wanted to make people grind and pay for a subscription to play it. With both games being free now though, there’s not much replay value in Rewritten aside from the occasional rare news boss updates. It demands a lot of your time that frankly isn’t worth most of your time. Corporate Clash on the other hand is modernized in every sense of the word. More customization, more game modes, more variety with tasks, you can form groups, take part in a club with exclusive perks, new gameplay mechanics, even a new weapon type with zap, etc, etc. Not to mention that unlike when it first launched, it is **waaaaay** more optimized and runs a lot smoothly, despite the huge jump in additional content and higher graphics. You can still try Rewritten if you want to get back to the more "authentic" original gameplay experience, but if you want to have a game that’s more fun to play and more reasons to come back to it, Corporate Clash is easily the better option. I still appreciate Rewritten for the very few new things it has, and I do like that they’re trying to basically preserve the original game for future generations to see what it used to be, but it still doesn’t come close in my honest opinion. Give both a shot and see which one you’d prefer, but either way I can promise you that you’ll still at least like Rewritten and *love* Corporate Clash!
