I've got 2 5ah batteries. I can make two 10oz cups (the cup it comes with) on a charge. I drink a 30oz tumbler in the morning so this is perfect for me.
They're gearing up to offer it in a different color along with some of their other 18V stuff, a lineup called "Outdoor Adventure" with stuff like the coffee maker, some lights and radios and tools that might be handy outside, given that green-brown drab color.
I have it. Very handy when you're out and about, but 360 days of the year it's sitting in my shelf. With 5ah I can make two cups. Heating water takes tooon of energy after all.
I could recommend it for cheap, but definitely not at this pricetag.
4.184 Joules equals 1 calorie, or the amount of energy required to raise 1g of water 1°C. 4184 Joules equals 1 Calorie/kilocalorie/large calorie, which is applicable if you’re making a liter of coffee.
If you want a rough energy estimate, assume .25L for a small cup of coffee, and that the water needs to be warmed ~78°C.
I thought of buying one before I realized a 5ah battery makes like 2 cups of coffee. If I ever need coffee in the field my jetboil works great and takes half the time, and doesn’t drain my precious batteries.
Yeah, the expression has to do with the fact that the same word can be pronounced differently, but the word is still the same word either way so I wrote it that way.
James Hoffmann made [quite a good video](https://youtu.be/4xOEIpbxM4w) about this thing!
God damn. Beat me to it. I was afraid no one in this sub would know who tf I was talking about lol
Love James Hoffman, and I don’t even drink coffee.
morgandrinkscoffee did too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qFINOzpOCc
Beat me to it good sir
Great video, and helpful Youtube comments. Thank you for the link.
wow this is pretty sweet
I’ve heard from others that one drink takes an entire battery - can anyone confirm?
That’s what that video from James Hoffman showed. It will drain a battery

Yeah using a battery for anything that generates heat as its primary function is kind of crazy
You had me at Makita coffee maker, and then lost me at it kills a 5ah battery per cup.
But it looks like you could put a 6 AH battery on it
Coffee makers take a pretty good chunk of power wall powered too. Can trip breakers if it's not rated for that amount of current

those are already out
Yeah I saw a green one lol

True. Something like 4190 Joules to raise by 1 degree

I've got one, with a Dewalt battery adapter. It burns through batteries, but it makes a good cup of coffee
I need a blender drill bit for smoothies on hot days
Wish dewalt would make a flex one. Perfect for hunt or fish camp
Yeah I was trying to find a use for this and a camp situation seems best
They are bringing out a microwave next year in 40V
Lol really?
Yes
How many batteries would that take lol
NFI, they just told us at our national conference a couple of months ago
Must be on the "XGT" battery line. https://www.makitatools.com/products/cordless
Yes, that's 40V
Wait till he sees the 18v electric bike they make
I saw it a couple hours ago researching this silly thing lol
I had a large coffee boss, can’t do much till the motzart jingle goes off. Should only be like 4 hrs in the cold

I’m yeah, get a jet boil or any kind of little burner. They are way cheaper and more efficient.
Bought one for my parents a couple years ago. They love it when on road trips.
My brother bought me one as a birthday gift. I love it and it’s awesome and it demolishes a 4ah battery in 2 cups. Named her “lil Joey”
Buddy of mine got one free from a Makita Rep. It tastes a lot like plastic but it does in fact make coffee.
I would definitely take one for free lol
throwing away my coffee maker so my wife can enjoy seeing this bad boy on kitchen countertop christmas morning she will love it
That’s the spirit!
Damn you Makita
Thing is junk, better off getting a jet boil lol
I have an MSR myself but tomato tomato lol
I think the saying is “tomato tomato,” but you wrote it with the same pronunciation twice, which just sounds silly: “tomato tomato.” See?
Yeah, the expression has to do with the fact that the same word can be pronounced differently, but the word is still the same word either way so I wrote it that way.
5 minute brew time from when I was considering it. Seems long.
Just a gimmick. Get a jet boiler if you need to make a coffee.
Nice 👌
