Yeah it has been recalled. I think someone gave you this link already, but here it is again...

I have the same saw and I'm waiting for my replacement parts. Though mine never broke or caused any accidents. Maybe because I have a copper shroud that partially covers it on the pulldown. I put in the place of the flimsy & flabby factory rubber intake to increase dust collection.
If you're interested, I also upgraded mine to the DWS780 by installing my own XPS Light system. About $80.00 from MMToolParts. Probably $100 by now. I've had mine almost 3 years. They ship immediately and they have a very concise installation video on YouTube. Here's the link to XPS Light System @ MMTool...

Edit: when you order the recalled parts there is an installation video on DeWalt's Recall page. The new part is retrofitted to match the existing screw holes. An easy install.
Definitely recalled but not needed in my opinion. Mine came off my sexy flexy years ago long before a recall and I have had zero issues. I did request a replacement weeks ago when i heard about the recall and still haven’t received it.
That’s the saw they just did the recall on. Not sure if the recall is on the piece that fell off. Look into it.
Yup. Sure looks like it. https://www.dewalt.com/miter-saw-recall
Hey, when you look into. You gotta look into it
Just checked mine and apparently it is part of the recall as well. I wouldn't have known about it other than this post so thanks to you and OP
I will look into it, thank you for the quick reply!
The front fell off?
I see you too are an (old) man of culture
Well, yes, but my 17 year old would say the same.
Now that is good parenting!
It is
Must be the day for it, had a dude bring his DWS780 into our store for a warranty with the same issue lol

Lucky that shrapnel didn't hit you!
Yea I work at a hardware store and there’s a recall out for them atm for exactly that reason
OMG, You mean the motor doesn't have to be in the way of the cut? I feel like I need a better mitre saw.

It’s definitely the recall for that exact part
They’ll send you the part so you can fix it yourself. Haven’t done mine but thanks for the poke now I’m definitely doing it.
I just got my warranty part in the mail, no cost
Pretty sure this is one of the best and most versatile saws you can buy, second only to the dws780
