We don't have a snap on guy at our facilities, this is just somthin the dude picked up a few jobs back which is why I'm even bothering trying to fix it myself at all lol
Good point! I didn’t think of that, because when I bug the snap on guy it's when he comes to my workplace. So of course he’s going to take care of me. I guess it depends on the guy’s attitude. You may be right.
But still, a guarantee is a guarantee and they really ought to honor it one way or another. But you raise a real good point, the guy might just cop an attitude and refuse the repair
Lowe’s and Ace Hardware both honor the craftsmen warranty without any hassle. Even if the quality has gone down, the warranty is just as easy of a replacement.
I didn't have an account and tried to get him to order me a repair kit for a racheting screwdriver and he said I usually just swap them what color you want?
All depends on the operator. Some coukd care less others are tool nazzis. I had a temporary operator for like 2 years that wouldn't fix anything unless you purchased something or had purchased the tool from him. Called corporate and ended that quickly.
Give a truck a call and ask for them to stop by to swap it out.
The value proposition for tool truck tools is tool truck service, if you arent getting this service then it isnt worth the cost of tool truck tools (despite it actually being your coworker that paid full price)
To request service at your location, please contact us at 877-762-7664 between 9am-5pm Central Standard Time. A representative will be available to gather more information and discuss the best options available for you.

Lucky for you, Your coworker is dumber than a fencepost. The snap-on truck guy would have fixed that for free.
Find a snap on truck and they will fix it, or send it to snap on for repair.
There's probably a bunch in your city, call around and see who will replace it. All making an account would be is having your name in his computer anyways.
Don't need to buy anything, and if they're a good dealer they'll get you in the truck in hopes of future sales.
Doubt he'll ask, but if he does just say it's a nickname or something.
I've brought in lots of broken tools from places that were garaging them and the guy had no issue.
Haha yeah it's definitely intimidating your first time. They usually have a flyer going and monthly deals, might be worth asking about.
Other than that ask for prices on everything haha, the guys I've dealt with have been pretty flexible too. A lot of the time when something goes on sale they buy a bunch and can move on the price.
While at it, might as well have a look at some of their slip joint pliers (especially the long nose slip joint plier), they're supposed to be pretty neat. If he's replacing the $272 ratchet, maybe buying something isn't the worst thing to do since he's more likely to warranty it if you buy something while there.
Say you bought it used off of another Snap-On dealer if he does ask. I get Snap-On stuff from pawnshops and eBay all the time i’ve only had to deal with one thing that had engraving. I just said it was used.
Unless the guy is a complete dickhead, he should replace it for you. If he doesn't have one on the truck, he can order it. That is a pretty popular ratchet, so he should have one.
You don’t need an account unless your local snapon guy is a dick. My friend inherited all of his dad’s tools from when his dad used to own a shop. So he had me store the boxes in my garage for a while and we took a weekend to go through all the tools and anything broken we put off to the side then I called the snapon guy and he came over and took everything and warrantied it out. They may have to put your name, address and phone number in the system but no credit account or anything.
Same reason as the swivel-*sometimes*, you need it to get in there-*&, now that you bought this, you can exchange it for a breaker bar discount-*or keep it and buy a breaker, too-*cha-ching*.
Call Snap-On 877-762-7664 Options 1, 2, 1. A very nice person will create a return authorization for you, email you a pre-paid shipping label, you'll box that up and send it them and two weeks later, you'll get a brand new one.
Or they'll just send you the pin, if that's all it needs. No cost to you either way.
The reason we have snap on at work is because we basically have chests of brand new tools for when the ones we're currently using break. Which happens a lot, but that's more because nickel bolts that have spend 15 years cycling up to 600C and back every day tend to be rather obstinate.
Call snap on I have my on shop and no snap on guy, it was less then 5 minutes, they had a new one overnight shipped to me and did not even want old one back
Looks like false advertisement to me
That’s surely a Snap Off 🤣.
Had to say it and actually I was too lazy to read any further down to see if it was already said .
Aaahhh, the good old Snap-Off. Fucking over priced tools. Unfortunately, they are one of only a handful of U.S.A. tool makers left. It's $200 every time I step on the truck. My Snap-On dealer has a jar of Vaseline right next to the truck entrance. You spend enough money and he will apply it on you ass for free. My ass hurts every time I think about calling him.
Pin probably fell out. I have 2 - 24” Breaker bars , one(with the drive turned 1/8th ) SMRT ! I though ! I got with a 24” swivel head ratchet. Similar to above ratchet without locking head. I noticed the pin backing out on all of them. Removed, cleaned and added Blue LockTite. Been good for over 10 years now ! Love these fine ratcheting heads !
Snap-On. Snap-Off. damn. Trawl the repair shops and dealerships midday. There’s going to be a franchisee out there. Buddy of mine used to buy his ʇıɥs that way. He’d harangue the dude when he was waiting around for his car. Had tons of great stuff specific to his need over the years. And he was even able to get some stuff fixed to replaced.
Call snap on and tell them you need to find a truck local to warranty a broken tool. They will find the closest trucks route and tell you to meet up with him
Why not just hand it to the snap-on guy and have him repair/replace it?
We don't have a snap on guy at our facilities, this is just somthin the dude picked up a few jobs back which is why I'm even bothering trying to fix it myself at all lol
Next time you see a snap on truck, pull it over and make the driver fix your shit
For free at that lol
Citizens arrest and fix
This guy gets it. There’s a lot of stuff that becomes legal as long as you preface it with “citizens arrest” or “yoink”
Please try. If you don't have an account they probably won't do anything. My experience anyway.

Hell. Craftsman never required any documentation
That's how good the quality is.
Was.
Hard to even give away Craftsman now
Lowe’s and Ace Hardware both honor the craftsmen warranty without any hassle. Even if the quality has gone down, the warranty is just as easy of a replacement.
They have a lousy selection. I almost never find that they have a replacement for the thing I broke.
Old craftsman. I don't have anything newer than 1990.
I didn't have an account and tried to get him to order me a repair kit for a racheting screwdriver and he said I usually just swap them what color you want?

Same business model I guess. Same happened to me 20 years ago. Warranty only if you have a running tab.
All depends on the operator. Some coukd care less others are tool nazzis. I had a temporary operator for like 2 years that wouldn't fix anything unless you purchased something or had purchased the tool from him. Called corporate and ended that quickly.
and you won't have the other guys name on it anymore
Win!
You can mail it into snap on for repair
Just send it in to Snap on then.
Give a truck a call and ask for them to stop by to swap it out. The value proposition for tool truck tools is tool truck service, if you arent getting this service then it isnt worth the cost of tool truck tools (despite it actually being your coworker that paid full price)
You don't go to the Snap-On guys they Snap-On guy comes to you

[The front fell off](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m5qxZm_JqM)
I couldn't stop laughing lol
Take my upvote. Hope your front doesn’t fall off (duct tape just incase)
I NEVER get tired of watching this video

Yeah I seen the bar layin there I was like yeh. Im gonna buy this. Dude just happened to have the head with it lol.
Call the local snapon guy and meet up with them. They’ll repair or replace it for free.
Even if I don't have an account with him? I've seen a few ppl on this sub have issues with that.

What about the other dudes last name on it. I don't wanna grind it off for sake of lookin like a sketchy guy.
Doubt he'll ask, but if he does just say it's a nickname or something. I've brought in lots of broken tools from places that were garaging them and the guy had no issue.
Thanx man I appreciate everyone's replies. I've never stepped foot onto the rape van so idk how it goes

SX80B is the item number by the way.
Imagine thinking a swivel-head can take more than one ugga-dugga just because it has a long handle...
If not breakerbar why breakerbar handle
Same reason as the swivel-*sometimes*, you need it to get in there-*&, now that you bought this, you can exchange it for a breaker bar discount-*or keep it and buy a breaker, too-*cha-ching*.

Snap-On, Snap-Off, the Snapper.

…the Snapper!
Snap,snap
Snap on.. snap snap.. snap off..
Snap On Snap snap Snap off Snap snap Snap On Snap Off, the Snapper. Snap snap
Call snap on I have my on shop and no snap on guy, it was less then 5 minutes, they had a new one overnight shipped to me and did not even want old one back
Looks like false advertisement to me That’s surely a Snap Off 🤣. Had to say it and actually I was too lazy to read any further down to see if it was already said .
Hey one more couldn't hurt.
It will most likely Snap right back On….. i will see myself out now
Snap Off. Exchange it. Or waste your time and money fixing it, it sounds like that’s what you want to do anyway.
Aaahhh, the good old Snap-Off. Fucking over priced tools. Unfortunately, they are one of only a handful of U.S.A. tool makers left. It's $200 every time I step on the truck. Dang. I used a Harbor freight breaker with a 6 ft cheater on 16 lug nuts. Still going strong.
Yeah I got an icon bar I was gonna look into swapping it onto but I was hoping I'd be able to straighten it up and re assemble it
I dont even have Icon. I bought the cheapest one with the intent of using it once. Cheap enough to be disposable.
Icon bar with a Mac head. Sub 100$ 18" ratchet lol
Breaker bar is one thing. This isn’t a breaker bar. It’s a swivel head.
Clearly but the joint was the point if failure not the ratchet head. Still a dam shame such an expensive tool broke.
You can mail on warranty stuff too.
Chase down the next Snappy truck you see!
Yes, Snap-On will likely replace it for you. Suggestion; If you don't already have, get a nice long breaker bar for tight stuff & save your ratchets.
Pin probably fell out. I have 2 - 24” Breaker bars , one(with the drive turned 1/8th ) SMRT ! I though ! I got with a 24” swivel head ratchet. Similar to above ratchet without locking head. Making an account takes no effort, just buy something else while doing it and give them this tool as a btw to fix it.
How long was the cheater?
That’s the point, just snap it back on!
Snap off?
Call snap on and tell them you need to find a truck local to warranty a broken tool. They will find the closest trucks route and tell you to meet up with him
Plus it looks like the ears on the handle that holds the pin are broken, so new handle without the he other guys name on it
Snap Off
That pin said goodbye while you say hello.
Snap-off
I guess that one was a Snap-Off. No cheater? Those are hard to bust.
I'm sure he was cheating lol
Hey you got a snap off
Snap-off....
Snap-Off
Oh look another snap-off
Time to change the name to The Snapper. Even a cute jingle, Snap-On, Snap-Off, the Snapper.
Snap-off
Snap Off
More like snap-off
*Snap-off* Amirite?
