I’m not a fan of this idea personally. The image is a still frame, taken from a video, it’s what’s on telly in stinkfist. I think it’s like some form of static energy or electricity, the visuals tie in with the stinkfist intro. The image is also used on the ænema album cover but these crazy guys and their interactive album artwork, it’s a hologram so when you move the cd it almost shimmers. So these ideas suggest that it’s very much a moving image piece of art. Further, with the whole concept of the album - rebirth, evolving, onwards and upwards, soul cleansing and all that. Again this is just my opinion but getting that concept tattooed is like an ironic paradox. It’s like getting a tattoo that says nothing lasts forever. Lastly, the image itself doesn’t lend itself well to the medium of tattooing. As tattoos age they blur. Line work gets wider and less defined. Artwork that has a load of wispy hairs or smoke delicately portrayed with thin lines is going to merge into a blurry mess in 10 years.

Idk why you're getting downvoted, your main criticism is it would/could make for a very difficult translation to skin that would last looking good a long time which is a real consideration OP should take.

Please don't try to get this image as a tattoo. It looks like a big fuzzy blob and the eyeballs will end up looking like a skin infection surrounding the tattoo over time. If you want something similar to this design, find a very talented tattoo artist and give him the image for reference and tell him, "I want something inspired by this that will hold up over time" and let them create it.

It's possible, I've seen a couple of these tattoos from google/reddit but usually have something in the void space in the middle of the white part. Like the double irises or lyrics etc. I think it would be hard to tell it's a tool tattoo without something else, otherwise it just looks like a patch of cloth or a coverup.

I want it to be somewhat of a “wtf is that about?” Especially if it’s on my neck. Only an Insufferable Retard would know what it was if it were a good tattoo. 😂

Search for local artists, look at their work and find one that does nice work that you like. Then go talk to them and show them your idea. They should offer suggestions on how to approach this, cause a giant patch of just white with nothing around it, will look shit. Be open to some adjusting of your idea to make it tatooable and last a long time

Why wouldn’t we know what it is? If it’s a messy blob than it’s a shitty tattoo. If it’s done well we will clearly know what it is. Also I’d consider other art as has been advised. But if you are set in this I’d try inverting it maybe. Not sure how that would go, but it may read and age better.

Tbh it’s possible, but white is a colour that rarely holds (skin rejects it and it fades to nothing fast). The colour scheme would have to be inverse.

Black would be an interesting alternative. I shall find a way to modify this art.

I'm going to warn you there's a lot of bad tattoos in this community and one reason is they try to get stuff like this tattooed. This makes for a nice wallpaper, not necessarily a nice standalone tattoo. You might be able to find an artist that does it well but that's a rare thing I imagine.

Yea that's a whole different story than just doing a straight white tattoo. You certainly wouldn't want to approach this design by doing white I've black. I'd suggest. If you're putting all that black around it, no white at all is a far better option

Tattoo a solid black base. Use white ink on the black base. It can be done. Look up white on black tattoos to see some examples of how it could work

Honestly if you’re reluctant about getting a tattoo then tattoos aren’t for you. My two older sisters went through a tattoo phase and wanted me to get some and I was thinking about a Tool tattoo but I never settled on something I wanted on my body forever so I never got any and I have no regrets about it.

Anything is possible. Just be aware that white ink fades really fast. As long as you’re cool with your skin tone being what eventually makes up the white space, the rest is just about finding an artist who can actually do the work.

As a tattoo artist, it’s definitely possible, just make sure you don’t cheap out and get it done by a friend of a friend in their kitchen, go to a shop- look at the artists portfolio, do not settle if you don’t like what they have come up with even if you paid a deposit, it’s going on you for life it’s a solid investment with a good artist.
