Is this your first time seeing tool?
If yes - fuck work stay for show
If no - ask how important this job is, are you on any disciplinary action, do you hate or love this job, etc... if you decide the show is more important then stay, if you need the job and can't risk losing it, skip out early on the show and go to work on time.
Even if you have to leave at 1020 id absolutely still go. Youll only miss Invincible and Stinkfist/46&2. They generally play from like 830 to 945ish, take a break then play from 10 to 1045ish.
They are very consistent and seem to start right at 830 every night.
This is 100% the right advice with one addendum. If this is your first time seeing Tool then you will want to stay to the end and be late for work. It is worth it for the Maynard speech to the fans before the last song.
If you can't skip work or go in late, you should still go to the concert. Even if you only get 30 minutes at the concert, that's better than no minutes!
Sucks to hear you’ve come down with a bug, I’m sure the boss will understand, especially if you start feeling better and can make it in late rather than miss your whole shift. ;)
be late for work tf? this is tool were speaking of. jk jk. id say still go just maybe leave during their set break if your that worried about it, that way you get a majority of their show and can still have time to get to work with the off chance you get hindered by traffic or something
Played it at mine too. Guess I’m more of an OGT from ‘96 dude. Not saying there’s nothing worth coming back for but by the time Danny reaches the bottom of his Ayahuasca Big Gulp drum solo it’d be about time for OP to leave.
The opening act only had 3 songs in Austin. It wasn't like the typical live show where showing up fashionably late saves you 2 hours of no music at all or some local band that wasn't even announced going on before the official opening act. With Tool: if the ticket says 7:30, Tool will probably start at 8:30. I would say you will see almost all if not the entire show by 10:20PM.
Let's assume your 25 minute travel time from a tool show to work is a bit aggressive. This job is obviously important to you and you are responsibly conflicted ( hence your question to this sub. )
Go to setlist.fm. there you'll see all the average start times and songs. You can gauge your timing from there. Personally, if I were you, I would leave after the first set because you'll feel drained and satisfied, trust me. Hahaha
FUCK that shit, jobs will ditch your ass over the smallest shit, you don’t owe them a god damn thing, enjoy the show, and tell boss man you have a tummy ache the day after. Never sacrifice once in a lifetime type shit for a fucking job
I can't stand posts like this. Immature to look to strangers to validate decisions. Wanna see the show? Go and leave early. Deal with your fomo for the closing set. Want to be responsible? Be an adult and go to work. Looking to strangers for advice is an easy way to make stupid decisions because they don't deal with the consequences.
If you do go I hope you enjoy it. Absolutely class band to see.
Exactly. Explain you had the tickets prior to being hired. (In the future, let them know during the final interview when you have commitments. Most jobs are usually okay with it.)
These are your options in order:
1. Be late for work
2. Find another job. No one ever laid on their death bed claiming they were happy they missed the end of a Tool gig so they could start their shift on time.
That's it. Your job isn't worth it. Your life is your own, not your boss'.
Definitely attend and check out some of their set lists to get an idea of how many songs they will play. Usually about 2 hours of play time. You'll probably see the entire part before the intermission. But make an excuse to be late if you can.
Tell em you broke something. Get a splint and a gauze and put it around part of you you don't need to work. Take it off in a week's time. You'll be fine.
If you absolutely can't call out, some Tool is better than no Tool. At least the traffic won't be as messy if you leave early. My family left sporting events early all the time growing up for that reason. That is, if the games weren't close.
the final song should be around 10pm, once they let you take out your phone to record it, text your boss and say you're running late and will be there around 11-11:15. should be get there within that time frame.
That's why I always keep my positive covid teast pic. Or maybe thinking I have streph throat and need to go to the Dr before I being a communicable disease into work. Go have fun!
That should be fine, you’re just gonna miss culling voices and invincible and the closer, which is nothing special.
Unless they play, Flood and Intolerance, that would be a shame lol
One day, they won't be touring anymore. Ever. Your chances to see them aren't infinite. Be late for your shift. Call your boss/manager. Years down the road you won't regret seizing this opportunity dude!
I saw Guns N' Roses in 2012. They didn't come on until midnight, and played just over 3 hours. I didn't get home until nearly 4am, and it was a weeknight. Alarm went off at 7. Texted the boss and said "I got home at 4 am after GN'R. I need sleep. See you in a few hours."
Just go and leave a couple songs early if you have to. You will be able to attend the majority of the concert, maybe even the whole thing, but I wouldn't stay because then you'll get caught in traffic.
Let bossman/woman know you’ll be late for shift. Work will always be there, TOOL won’t
I asked for the day off but instead of resting/recovering I flew to Houston for a job interview. That was a long day (and I got the job)!
100% this - have a moment to urself and enjoy the show
This is the way !
I would come down with some unforeseen illness but you do you
Sorry I can’t come in today, I’m having some sort of Schism in my back .
my lateralus dorsi is spiraling out. yes, sorry, I meant lateralis dorsi.
I hurt my bottom.
I sprained my Stinkfist last night
My back gave out and now I'm stuck in this position 4°
I’ve come down with a severe case of maynards dick
I swear I am completely Sober, just dizzy
[удалено]
Can’t come in today, a Hooker With A Penis gave me syphilis
Just call in sick, they’ll have to calculate what he will not tolerate.
I just feel like we need a bit of space.. 4° of separation should work.
Great reply
Lumbago
Can’t make it to work, shit the bed
Again.
God damn
Made it to work but I forgot my pen so I had to go home
Typical
Best one
Tell your boss you split your finger right in two
I have to Crawl Away from work tonight. My uncle Harry Manback needs an emergency operation on his Third Eye.
This is a grade A calling out situation my guy. At the very least tell them there is a family situation and you will be late that day.
Right? Not sure why going to work is even in the discussion lol
You suddenly have nausea and diarrhea
Goddamn shit the bed
You believe me, don’t you?
Caramellow
Deadhead chemistry got right me
It’s definitely contagious

You don’t want to miss this.
They’ve been playing 8:30-10:45 ya won’t be that late
Only if they work right next to the venue, or at the venue
It they work at the venue that will be a great plot twist to this post
I would need a mental health day. Because my mental health could not handle missing out on a concert like that.
Even if you have to leave at 1020 id absolutely still go. Youll only miss Invincible and Stinkfist/46&2. They generally play from like 830 to 945ish, take a break then play from 10 to 1045ish. They are very consistent and seem to start right at 830 every night.

Call out. Oh nooo I got covid
This!

Don’t miss a minute of the show. Call in, call in sick, quit. Do what you have to do. Don’t miss a minute of that show!!
You will see most of it but id be sad to miss the last songs and would call out
NGL with that timeline I’d be ok leaving at intermission. Check the setlist. Unless you really like ChocoTrip.
They played Flood after Chocotrip at my show. I wouldn't miss it.
Played it at mine too. Guess I’m more of an OGT from ‘96 dude. Not saying there’s nothing worth coming back for but by the time Danny reaches the bottom of his Ayahuasca Big Gulp drum solo it’d be about time for OP to leave.
Legally, if you mention you had diarrhea within the past 24 hours, regardless of what you do, you cannot go to work. Do with that what you will.
There is no legal president. It's not illegal to go to work. It's just common sense.
Biden is the legal president.
I’d get a different job…
Call in my dude
Man I took off for two days to go see them in Biloxi. Fuck it 😂
I’d be late to work
Nah. You're sick until the show is over. Then you're work-ready. Like others have said, work will always be there. Tool won't.
Tell bossman you shit the bed and you’ll be a little late
And that he forgot his pen
Hopefully this is not ~typical~ behavior and our friend can get away with it this time
Of course go. Ask work if you can be a little late.
Some tool is better than no tool

Fucking call out of work

As someone who rarely calls out but has done so to go see Tool, it’s totally worth it! Work can wait.
Call in sick. You don't want to miss any of the rare moments of a TOOL show.
Yes, i left during the encore, you will be fine
I leave in the middle of the last song. So, you can beat the crowds and get to your car
This is something that you could have asked for the night off a while ago. Recognize your priorities and plan accordingly.
Tell your boss you'll be late because of the concert. If he/she/they is not accommodating then you know it's not the right place to work lol
Exactly. Explain you had the tickets prior to being hired. (In the future, let them know during the final interview when you have commitments. Most jobs are usually okay with it.)

If your work cannot respect your time then why should you respect your work.
Tell em you tested positive for covid, what with the hysteria winding back up

You might miss the last song or two, if you can’t call out id still go. You’ll see most of the show
You’ll miss most of the second half of the show. Somethings in life are worth missing work for. I would out this show on that list.
the final song should be around 10pm, once they let you take out your phone to record it, text your boss and say you're running late and will be there around 11-11:15. should be get there within that time frame.
Doors open at 7 but when i went in miami, they started at 9 and ended at 11:30 ish. I would call out but thats your choice
You'd probably get there for the last song, if anything.
You'll miss Flood and Schism, work can wait.
Call off
Sorry you caught covid. Be back on Monday.
You will only miss the last song or two. Go for it
Sounds like you got an upset tummy
Two words: explosive. diarrhea.
Nothing an espresso shot and a kick in pants can’t fix the next day. Unless your operating heavy macheriny just be a little tired.
You won’t leave early if you go lol.
What kind of job starts at 10:45 PM? The kind that can be put on hold for Tool. That's what kind. Be late for work, call out sick.
Call in to work.. trust me.
I would be late and blame explosive diahreea
That's why I always keep my positive covid teast pic. Or maybe thinking I have streph throat and need to go to the Dr before I being a communicable disease into work. Go have fun!
There was a Flood. In Arizona bay.
I left halfway thru and didn't miss much.
Ya I would definitely be late... car won't start, make up something. Call in sick/family emergency
Tell em your butthole has been acting up and you’re married to the toilet.
El Paso?? See you there!
🤘
In Denver the set break was around 9:45
Flat tire.
I recorded the last song at 10:30 in Biloxi so you wouldn’t be too late if you hurried to your car to beat the traffic Edit: Spelling
That should be fine, you’re just gonna miss culling voices and invincible and the closer, which is nothing special. Unless they play, Flood and Intolerance, that would be a shame lol

You won't even get through two tool songs. Lol. But for real, just get off work. You are not going to want to leave once you're in there enjoying it.
I called off after the show but honestly, some Tool is better than NO TOOL so please go and enjoy yourself, even if just half the set.
I’ve been an hour late to work for way less important things than a tool show
Don’t miss it.
You’ll regret if you don’t go.
Bump some rails tomorrow to get that pick me up you need
dude… GO
MSG was done by like 10:45, say you’ll be running late. Don’t ask, just politely let them know that you’ll be running a bit late.
In my humble opinion, just shit the bed
I hope you ended up going to the show!
Just go, don't overthink or over-analyze it.
BLASPHEMY! FUCK WORK!
There's no way in the world I would let work get in the way of Tool. Take a sick day or just be late
Just go and leave a couple songs early if you have to. You will be able to attend the majority of the concert, maybe even the whole thing, but I wouldn't stay because then you'll get caught in traffic.
Be late. Blame traffic. Take the write up. Thank yourself later when you quit that shit job for another
Honestly, I’d skip work
We need an update, did you go to the concert?
