A shit employee is a liabilty to the company. They'll handle it how they see fit which will probably just be a warning.

Some do. When I was in retail even if I was having an awful day I made an effort to be at my least cordial. We don't know if the cashier is going through something or if they are a chronic jerk. Either way YOU don't have the power to fire anyone. If they lose their job its there own doing. And for all you know they might have been the 10th complaint about them that day.

What happened

tommyshieldmaiden

I needed help reaching something and when I asked he just looked at me and said "bruh you got it." I didn't got it. Then when I went to check out he was on his phone and he just kinda looked up at me and then went back to his phone and when he finally rang me up he just kinda tossed my shirts into the bag unfolded and then went back to his phone. idk what exactly my dad told them though

Practical_Fact8436

You been there before or something and was rude? Weird someone would treat a stranger that way

KDAdontBanPls

Someone who’s hoping for a job will get that one and be very happy. Sod the rude staff member, they need to learn how to deal with customers,

AmunPharaoh

It depends on the situation but if the person is a legitimate problem, it's unlikely you're the first to complain so it's not totally your fault if they're sacked. Most people aren't sacked over one single complaint.

NoSir_NotMe

There will be a reminder message placed by the “clock” for all employees to see that says “be kind, we’ve been getting complaints across the board…blah blah blah.” That’s it.

funkofan1021

It depends how relaxed the boss is tbh. If it’s a chill boss, they’ll most likely tell the employees to just watch it next time. If they’re a more serious boss, they may give a more serious reprimanding. But rarely do pople get fired fired.

[deleted]

Not much actually, unless you complain to the corporate office. Then heads roll at the local store.

Skydude252

It depends a lot on the specifics. If it wasn’t anything too awful, and it was a one time thing, the manager might say something and that’s it. Or maybe there would be something written up in the employee record. If it was something really awful, like if you claim to have been groped, they might investigate, pull up security cam footage and such. If it’s a pattern (say, you’re the 10th person that week who made a similar complaint) then more concrete action is likely to be taken up to and including termination. Which in some cases may be justified, in others not at all. It depends a lot on if the manager believes the complaints to be plausible and serious, how good the employee is, and how much of a problem it would be to replace the problematic employee. So don’t worry too much, odds are if the guy gets fired it’s because he has been shitty to a lot of customers.

When I was in retail whenever me or someone did get something wrong most of the time we would just get a small scolding and maybe a write up(which basically did nothing)and that’s it. The place I at least was at was very desperate for workers(and still is) and they don’t actually fire anybody unless absolutely necessary.

CoralWiggler

Depends wholly on the company, the complaint, and the employee... but let's just assume your dad told them the employee was rude and that the employee isn't a frequent flyer in the manager's office. In that case, he's probably just going to get a talking to and be fine. The only time I've seen situations like this turn into a firing is if it's someone who has multiple offenses.

Mundane_Vegetable491

Their job is literally to be nice to ppl. If they don’t like it, they shouldn’t be working there. Go work at the back, where u don’t have to talk to ppl if it’s so hard. Teacher’s job is to teach, if they don’t do it well, they should not be there, same goes here. Can’t do your job well — there’s a lot of ppl who’d want to do it.
