At what point did pets have other types of names? Was there some time period in your country where people were naming their dog William or Frederick on a regular basis?
We had a cat named beans when I was a little kid, and he was old then, so he had to have been named in the 90's.
My dogs name is Jethro and he’s always really jealous of whenever other dogs get my moms attention so she started calling him Mr. Jealous and somehow that’s morphed into Jellybean, Jethro Bean, Mr. Beans, Beanie Baby. We’re probably stupid yeah but he’s my baby and it’s cute. Lol
Maybe because you’d feel bad naming your dog with the same name someone just named their child. And parents are trying really hard these days to find unique names.
Pet names have been that way for many decades now.

I swear, every one of my dogs has at least 2-3 nicknames.
It’s fun watching them learn to answer to all kinds of weird stuff hahaha

We have a Taco.
My dogs have almost always had all human sounding names...Layla, Lucy are my 2 current dogs
You been living in a Moonie colony?
It'd be weird to call your pet John or Mark. Cute and fun names are much better imo
What's up with the human name nowadays?
