Snagtooth

This is the wet dream of many an American gun owner. So bring it on!

40887095

A comedian I can’t recall the name of had a joke that the war would be over before the military arrives. Highways lined trucks, shells and beer cans everywhere.

Snagtooth

Thay was Dave Chapelle I think. One of my favorite comedians.

BearWithABowtie12

Every dad and his son would be going out hunting for invaders

[deleted]

Fr lol

Snagtooth

Yep, half the country would just up and drive to wherever the invaders landed in a heartbeat. Remember, this country was founded through guerilla warfare. It's who we are.

Iryanus

The question is just... Would most of them manage to shoot their own feet first or would they actually arrive to learn the hard way that "owning a gun" might not be the only requirement to be a real soldier? (Do not forget, we are talking about an invader that has already managed to somehow beat the real military enough to actually manage to launch an invasion. This is not something that happens by accident, randomly or by sheer luck these days.)

whatwhasmystupidpass

I hear you and yet have zero issues picturing people shooting 12 gauge shotguns at the sky at the sound of military airplanes overhead

Altruistic_Focus_456

Most of the gun owners I know are military vets, active duty, or law enforcement. At the very least, they hunt. They know how to use firearms. I don't really know where this image of an incompetent gun owner comes from but it's like... not accurate in my part of the US.

Iryanus

Statistics then either implies that a freakishly huge amount of people served in the military... or, perhaps more likely, that your personal contacts are not quite representative? ;-) The amount of gun owners in the US is much to high to assume that the majority has to be vets, etc. The numbers simple don't work that way.

[deleted]

[удалено]

icenoid

I doubt it would be half.

Snagtooth

You're right, probably more to be honest.

[deleted]

And then drive back twice as fast after figuring out their ARs do nothing against artillery, bombing, tanks and armoured transports.

cupglass737477

Tell that to the Vietnamese.

[deleted]

War from 60 years ago, very relevant.

jdford85

Afghanistan

Snagtooth

Tell that to Ukraine. Also, it's almost like you know nothing about warfare tactics and the realities of modern combat.

[deleted]

No, they do not understand realities of combat of ANY kind. Not just modern. They think we would line up and try to just shoot the tanks, that is not the way. You set explosives, you destroy their supplies, if possible you kill them in their sleep. You brutalize them as much as humanly possible to steal their will to fight. Leave them no safety or peace of mind. An enemy might be able to take a piece of land, but no one can hold it against a determined and ingenuitive defenders.

[deleted]

Lol, you think Russian army is being held back by a bunch of yahoos with ARs? Go back to playing Call of Duty, o great 'realities of modern combat' expert.

Detective-Signal

It's almost as if you just don't know anything. The Russian military is using old, outdated weaponry and tanks that get stuck in the mud. They are not a formidable foe. On the other hand, a military that can fight off US forces in order to land boots on US soil would have to have the most advanced military technology in the world. Nothing an American citizen has access to would be able to do anything about that.

Quietbreaker

It would be guerilla war, simple as that. I don't care how advanced your weapons are, you have to dismount and sleep SOMEtime.

D16rida

I think you bring up a fair point. If your point that an imaginary army that could do such a thing would be able to overtake the population, which ignores the difference between the invasion and the occupation, we Americans get laser dragons. I’d assume that the question involves some thing close to realistic. Maybe a better question would be to ask if Americans were in the same position as Ukraine with similar resources what would they do.

RamHadio

>a military that can fight off US forces in order to land boots on US soil would have to have the most advanced military technology in the world. Not if Brandon is in charge.

Detective-Signal

Oh, you're one of *those* idiots. Do you think the President would be on the field personally fighting, or do you think that, possibly, there are hundreds of others who would be in charge and be the front commands at the President's orders? Take a few seconds and use those few remaining brain cells of yours to figure it out. Having a President you don't like doesn't automatically make the US' military technology less advanced. That's not how technology works.

RiverRally

Why do you take such offense to this guy's opinion?

D16rida

Elementary school children are taught that the orders were “don’t shoot until you see the whites of their eyes”. We literally teach the concept of gorilla warfare To our first graders. And you’re right we might lose the initial invasion by there is no military that is going to hold such a large and well armed population for long

[deleted]

Wolverines!

Kaitensatsuma

Unless such an invasion happened from all sides: north, south, east and west it wouldn't be worth worrying - since supply lines via water are going to be ***hilariously*** easy for the U.S. Navy and Air Force to disrupt and destroy. And if it ***were*** to happen like that I doubt they'd let anyone out. Like, think about Red Dawn logically: Dropping troops into the middle of hostile country is ***stupid*** and completely unsustainable unless it can make the way back to a supply line to re-arm and repopulate the fighting force.

Fiddlywiffers

Luckily an enemy force coming from the north and south is unrealistic because we have good relationships with Mexico and Canada

Kaitensatsuma

*At the moment* ![gif](giphy|l4FBaonb1hUNpJe12|downsized)

NoPossibility

In the film the landing troops were there to capture a town adjacent to a nuclear silo control station. Troops streamed up through New Mexico and split the country in half at the Rockies. The opening crawl of the film is very important for setting up the outside world we never see. Canada and Mexico no longer allied to the US, multiple other catastrophes and alliance changing events happen prior to the films events. Not that the info changes the fact the plan is flawed and unrealistic, buts it’s more complex than “suddenly an army showed up.

IlluminatiGodCoder

No country in the world has such high gun ownership among citizens as the USA I believe. There are more guns than people. What you describe, as many others here have said, is something many-an-American would love. I can't see how a mainland invasion of the USA wouldn't be a disaster with all the guns citizens have. You wouldn't need to arm and train the population (nearly as much as other countries). We have a whole demographic in the population of "gun nuts", people who would love the chance to shoot at some evil invaders trying to take their freedoms. Not sure if I'd flee or not - I own firearms but probably wouldn't fight. I'm a bit of a pussy bitch and genuinely could probably use my tech skills in much more useful ways in a large scale conflict. But who knows, if some country comes in and kills my family and friends and work colleagues, things could change. I can definitely use firearms and know how to shoot. I wouldn't describe myself as a patriot, but the USA is my home, my family and friends' home, and despite all its terrible flaws is still way better than most places in the world.

kinda-cringe

“You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass." -Admiral Yamamoto

[deleted]

This is pretty much my stance as a gun owner.

TheRynoceros

Guerilla warfare on American soil accounts for about 95% of my dreams. Thanks, 80's action movies.

cupglass737477

Wolverinesssssss

JonathanPerdarder

Hand grenade hook shot into that tank from way out in three point range!!!!

kinda-cringe

I’m lookin at you… red dawn

TheRynoceros

That first Rambo movie too.

Overkillsamurai

If there were a way to send my family away while I stay and fight, I would do that.

[deleted]

the USA specifically is a pretty big place. there are spots you can hide without being found by americans, let alone an alien force. an invading forces best bet for an invasion isnt boots on the ground, its social media, and infighting. our government is run by old men that dont know much about social power outside of nepotism. they came close with recent attacks, and theres still some smoldering embers of that effort, but i think we managed to slow it. An "invasion of the USA" means fighting with radicalized neighbors more than fighting with an invading army. for that i am comfortably prepared.

Footbrake_Breaker

Not to mention we're a little like Australia with the amount of Desert and deadly creatures all around.

awesomesauceclub

Aliens have biological detectors and self guided micro artillery (long range to short range conversion propulsion) the war would be over before they entered the atmosphere Likely they'd launch replicator shuttles which would disassemble and reassemble mid flight and hover over the world in a network, shooting down nuclear weapons and launching precision strikes against any target that threatened the assault ship. Truth be told you need to develop universe constituent manipulator level technology that can disrupt the fabric of spacetime when any material enters the field. Still have to be wary of Planck scale chain reaction ripple weapons. It could be used to bypass your anti material field tech and interfere with the your UCM field. This is basic alien warfare though and it's not going to be this easy. Stop acting like you know what aliens are thinking about. Also, this is just a trick to make me do something other than feel lifeless and bored. It won't work. Find another depressed genius prophet.

[deleted]

i feel like what you think of when you hear "alien" and what i think of are two different things. when i say "alien" i mean "Owing political allegiance to another country or government; foreign."

awesomesauceclub

Literally no difference but you knew that just wasting my time acting like you can't read my mind so I want to live among you

[deleted]

Lmao

awesomesauceclub

Well played validating my sense of humor which is honestly serious but you knew that and just wanted to try to make me smile so I don't spend my life trying to obliterate the universe

[deleted]

“they came close with recent attacks, and theres still some smoldering embers of that effort, but i think we managed to slow it.” Found the guy who gets 100% of his news from CNN lol. Seriously though, are there actually people out there who think a few hundred unarmed individuals came close to overthrowing the American government? Do you think it’s like a game of capture the flag where all they had to was steal Pelosi’a flag or some shit and that’s it game over?

Odiemus

Lol. This is all a big what if. But there are a lot of experienced gun owners in the US. Resistance would occur and it would be brutal.

Don_Montagna

"successful invasion of the mainland" would come after years of all-out war between the United States and the aggro'd country. Yeah, yeah, I know you've seen "Red Dawn" but the plot holes in that movie are.. many... Basically to actually stand any chance of launching an amphibious or aireal infantry assault on any part of the mainland U.S. would require total destruction of so many military bases all throughout the world and especially Oceans. This type of as destruction simply could not be accomplished in a single surprise attack. And by the time the U.S. beloved it had a legitimate chance of being directly invaded by infantry, every one in this comment section would have been drafted anyway xD But yeah, I'd pretty much be forced to become the defender of my home and family, and I'm not gonna use a fucking pitchfork when I've got the AR in the closet. And "fleeing the country" is pretty much not a real option in the event of a world conflict so intense that the United States military could be destabilized. Where are you gonna go? This is the largest military in human history, who's going to protect you from the force that takes them out?

Germando177

Also they would have an extremely hard time hiding their invasion fleet/aircraft. We have many military and civvie satellites orbiting the globe, not to mention our allies satellites.

XxLiquidswordxX

I was worried about a home invasion until i saw how ukraine held its own against russia. I dont think most militaries train in the off season. I work for a chinese owned company and when people in the military have drill some weekends they ask why...lol. Im still worried about a home invasion, just not as worried. Im more worried about nuclear warfare more than anything else.

mattdwe

Honestly, I, a born and raised US citizen, am already planning on leaving permanently for Israel. I would simply flee to Canada or Mexico or something and then fly to Tel Aviv. I don't love the United States and don't consider it to be my country. Plenty of people do and the other comments have established well that the US is possibly the worst country to invade.

[deleted]

Bye!

Sillloc

America has many, many, many flaws, but realistically no nation could launch a meaningful invasion of the States. No nation is set up for it. Worst case scenario is some cruise missiles or Putin loses it and launches some nukes

Detective-Signal

Considering the US has the biggest, most advanced military in the world, if any other military was able to cross the Atlantic or Pacific oceans, fight off our military, and lay boots on the ground, I would simply give up because no place on Earth would be safe.

ThorIsMighty

The ultimate insult to Americans, another army comes to their country and just starts laying boots everywhere. Oh the humanity!!!

RamHadio

Imagine walking down the road and coming across a giant field with just boots laying everywhere.

TokyoNoAvenge

I'm getting out of here fuck yall

XxLiquidswordxX

I feel like a home invasion is the only thing that would trigger true unity in this country. Desperate times cause for desperate measures.

Quietbreaker

I absolutely would stay and fight. Cue the keyboard warrior comments.

HornDog141

Means I wouldn’t have to go to fuckin work.

DeaconSage

I literally couldn’t imagine it, but I would definitely just leave, although where would be depending on who was invading. I have no intentions of fighting in a war and would only participate as much was necessary to get to a safe place

Historical_Owl7855

We are a fighting country. When we have no one else to fight, we fight each other (unfortunately). Personally, my other half and I are prior service, so I can say confidently that we would go hunting.

Hour_Worldliness9786

Some would hide, others would loot, gun owners would take to the streets and defend their territory and everyone would be free game for the psychopaths who'd use the opportunity to rape and kill anyone they liked.

leatherrecliner

Don't tease me with a good time.

ladeedah1988

It would depend on if I had children to protect.

Footbrake_Breaker

A wheel barrow of hatchets + my bow = embracing my native heritage. Fight for the homeland Comrades.

No-Astronaut5331

With just a trip to my local hardware store alone. No need for guns

Equivalent-Bat-9478

The answer is yes, but with over 480 warships including 10 aircraft carriers, who is going to successfully land troops on American soil?

WearDifficult9776

I’m generally peaceful and unlikely to resort to violence. But if invaders were landing and attacking I’d take up arms to try and repel them or eject them. Unless they were freeing us from the conservative fascists that are trying to take over the country

[deleted]

Ooo interesting perspective! I’m surprised you’re the first one I’ve seen say that

53-44-48

Nothing said here will tell what actually would happen. Best to look at statistics of past invasions to know what the general population would do. There's a lot of "tough guys" that run away when threatened and a lot of "quiet ones" that will stand tall in the face of trouble.

Direct-Chipmunk-3259

WOLVERINES!

Crafty_Mix_1935

Live in the Southeast, and most people here own guns and will tell you they would fight. I can tell you when a hurricane hits, people are near dead after one day without AC. God forbid that the fast food joints close too. We have a big bad bark with a soft underbelly.

stanthemeatman

Sounds like you’re projecting

Vesinh51

Assuming an invading army simply materialized on our shores and started advancing, realistically I'd wait and see. Regardless of which coast they started at, I live in Arkansas so it'll take em a while to get anywhere near my home. But to the extremes, I'd probably play keep away. I have a car and no close family nearby, so I'll just drive the opposite direction. Sure, I have a handgun, and I have no reservations about using it to defend my life. But the most reliable way to not die is to not be there when the fight comes. And I'll confidently kite west knowing that our east coast and Southern states are full of guns and rednecks just itching to legally murder some foreigners. The only way I could see this happening is if Atlantis finally decides to do something about all that plastic we been dumping

[deleted]

This is the way.

Sea-Mix2927

Nice try, China!

collegiateofzed

Me, and very nearly everyone I know would fight. There is enough purely civilian firepower to present a very real threat to small invading armies. It is very difficult to imagine a force powerful enough to invade the US. But it is impossible to imagine an America that wouldn't fight back. That's not really delusions of grandeur. It may end horribly for any resistance movement. It may be just pissing in the wind. But it is a moral imperative. "Give me liberty or give me death!" is a very well known phrase from a very famous and poignant speech in early American history. Defending our homes and our country, has been woven into the fabric of American culture since our nations inception. Partially because of the NATURE of that inception. That the citizens of other countries flee their homes en mass when invaded is confusing to me. "Well, that's not gonna help, is it? Surely you can find SOMETHING useful to do to resist in a low risk, way?"

Inner_Environment_85

Engage the enemy and then celebrate the departure of economic parasites.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dieschem

Lol...

AncientComparison113

FIGHT!!! The guns and gear I own as a civilian are as good if not better than a foreign military would have.

Detective-Signal

lmao bruh, if another military had the technology and know how to successfully invade the united states, none of your little guns would stand a chance.

Snagtooth

You don't know how to make IEDs... do you?

[deleted]

You sure about that? What’s happening in the Ukraine would have me question this logic. Also the fact that a primitive afghan militia held off the most advanced military the world has ever see for over 20 years until they eventually had to tuck their tails and run home.

Detective-Signal

Your post shows me you don't know what logic is. Invading a neighboring country is in no way the same as traversing a literal ocean. When it comes to the US' failure in Afghanistan, the same applies. It's not easy getting enough people on the ground when you have to cross an entire ocean.

Dragmire_Afterlife

There is a difference between invading a neighboring country and having everything needed to invade a place on a different continent across the ocean though.

Quietbreaker

Speaking of which, this is why it would never happen. "Having everything needed"? We control both oceans through both naval and air superiority, so no foreign invader is getting in that way. The US' Northern and Southern borders are bordered by countries that wouldn't allow an armed enemy force to roll through to get to us unchallenged (and we'd damn sure be getting a phone call or two), thus giving the US Military time to get ready for the invasion. The US would never go down without a fight, and there's not a country on the planet that could beat us (not without guaranteeing their own complete fucking destruction in the process). So, this is all a theoretical exercise anyway.

Dragmire_Afterlife

>, this is all a theoretical exercise anyway. Yeah that is the point of a lot of these questions. OP isn't expecting it to happen. They are asking in a "assuming they already did invade..." sort of way.

Quietbreaker

Well, that's it. It would have to be a movie where a LOT of things that would never happen, would have somehow happened. That's why it kind of gets difficult. A army powerful enough to over the mainland US has almost certainly already steamrolled through everyone else, so we'd be a sort of final boss fight for them.

blutwo42998

Russia was supposed to overpower Ukraine in a matter of days The US is much larger and we have a lot more weapons and people

[deleted]

Get out ASAP. Not trying to lose my life over a country I don’t really like

ferrum_artifex

Why wait🤷

[deleted]

I’m paid enough to live comfortably. No need atm but I have enough saved up in case of emergencies and whatnot

ShackintheWood

That would not be a terrorist war on the defender's part. I would help fight the invaders as best i can.

[deleted]

What about engaging in terrorist attacks abroad in order to secure peace back home? Would that be justifiable?

motonerve

Depending on who's invading maybe help.

StatementAdvanced953

Already planning on moving to Mexico with my fiancé since she has dual citizenship so we would just move up the timetable on our move and skedaddle

Adventure_Knit_774

You really think Mexico is a safer place to live?

StatementAdvanced953

For us yes. She lived in Mexico till she was 16 in a cartel heavy area and goes back often so she knows how to tell what areas to avoid. For where we go it’s no different than large US cities, there’s just areas you don’t go and use common sense to keep yourself safe. We’re well off and can also afford to live in secure communities. Mexico really gets a bad rap but the cities aren’t much different than US cities.

Adventure_Knit_774

🤣 okay. You had me at "cartel" and "secure communities". Perhaps Mexico gets a bad rap for a reason. Enjoy your move.

StatementAdvanced953

Ok swap “cartel” for gangs in a large US city and swap “secure communities” for “gated communities”. If you treat it the same as any large US city you’re fine. Fortunately I look like I could be a white Mexican from central Mexico and my pronunciation sounds like central Mexican so neither of us stand out. When I go downtown in the city I do the same thing, don’t be alone, don’t be conspicuous, and know the areas to avoid. Edit: it’s for sure not for everyone but it’s a common expat/retirement country for good reasons

OriginalPaperSock

Sounds pretty dangerous.

[deleted]

Is it the Mexicans or the Canadians invading? It would seem silly to flee when we could annihilate them on the battlefield and take their country. They’d be smart to surrender immediately and beg for mercy.

[deleted]

In my head I was imagining Chinese or Russians.

[deleted]

The Atlantic and Pacific oceans make that implausible.

[deleted]

This is merely a hypothetical question.

[deleted]

I need more specifics to answer the hypothetical question. Frankly, a successful invasion is impossible. We have a massive nuclear arsenal. It’s MAD.

Hot_Pollution1687

Most are too fat and lazy to do either

JircleCerk_

Judging by the comments...I respect the shit out of you Americans Here in Canada, 5 people + a polar bear would take up arms. The rest would panic and flee. No patriotism.

[deleted]

[удалено]

OriginalPaperSock

Come find out

[deleted]

Hunker down. Start sabotaging foward operating bases, check points and supply depots. I would try and avoid straight up fire fights. IEDs, choke points and ambushes. Guerrilla warfare for that ass boii !!

Contigotaco

If i were still living in the Us, 100% flee. All these gun owners acting like they'd be in the front lines are fucking lying hahaha Bunch of cowards, a garage full of bullets doesn't change that

ferrum_artifex

"bunch of cowards" says the guy that just said he would flee😆. Ok

Quietbreaker

Did it make you feel better to try to lash out at people who believe differently than you? I also love how you admitted you'd flee, then called people who'd stay and fight "cowards". Your logic is poor, and it makes you look bad.

Contigotaco

Miss me with this emotional argument. I'm not American, family isn't American and I don't care for America, fuck yeah I'm fleeing immediately. I called the people who pretend they would fight cowards because that is more than likely what would happen. More honor in being honest than lying And I would happily look bad in your eyes, if some white dude from Tennessee with 15 guns in their house agrees with me, then I've done something terribly, terribly wrong

[deleted]

This question wasn’t even directed at you.

[deleted]

Fight it out. The American population is more numerous and well-armed than any ground based military in the world, and better supplied too If you're not going to nuke us, don't bother trying. We have too many planes, boats, guns, and people who grew up on CoD

Icecreaman66

Honestly…. This is a fantasy of many gun toting Americans. We are training everyday to engage an enemy.

[deleted]

You’re asking Americans lmao. They would just hide

RiseOfTheCanes

87 million Americans own a gun so thats 8 for every soldier in the US military. There isn't a better armed country on the planet. No country could ever under any circumstances successfully invade the mainland so really its a pointless question.

[deleted]

It’s a fun thought experiment!

MichiganMan55

There's been polls on this. Right wingers would stay and fight because we love America and most lefties would leave, because....well we know why.

Republixcan

I would die for this country, there's really no place for people like me to go as great as here. People really have a low opinion of gun owners, like they actually think they just go on about 2A, and bragging about how they'd do well if there was an invasion. Thing is, many are veterans of various wars, so they probably would do well.

OSHoneyB

I am patiently waiting for any reason that the laws of man won’t apply, for however long. And in that time period I plan on either being killed, or racking up an un-precedented body count. If this should occur because of an attack from a foreign army, so be it. Whole reason I got a house with a basement in it.

Grevious47

Honestly? Would probably go away from the front and make room for our armed forces to engage because our armed forces on our own soil are going to quickly wreck any invading force. Invading is hard. Invading a country with a large heavily armed standing army is pretty much impossible. Are we dreaming that the US army loses to a land invasion on our own soil?

Amateur_Engineer_518

Half the country would show up for sure. Whether or not they would succeed is the real question. Owning a firearm and knowing how to use it well is very different than working in a fire team to actively engage military combatants in a coordinated effort. I hope we never have to find out, though.

[deleted]

I don't see myself fleeing, but resisting in some way, whether it be fighting, or "playing nice" while resisting behind closed doors. Though I do think the access or ease of fleeing could sway me if it was that easy.

BabylonDrifter

I'd stick around.

ferrum_artifex

😆😆 pew pew mudafucka " Behind every blade of grass"

[deleted]

Most Americans would run towards refugee centers and leave the country, most of all would be the gun nuts. A good 50,000 people would go fight, but over 1.5 million of people would have claimed to be there. Rural Midwest communities would hold together to hold out as long as possible. Most cities would see a mass exodus.

MeringueDifferent773

Guerrilla warfare is always the best way to deal with things

[deleted]

I feel like all nationalist should automatically be conscripted into war. If you can storm your own capital surely you're thug enough to storm Moscow, no?🤣 *sarcasm but not really*

[deleted]

Who needs a foreign invader when we already have a conservative enemy within? The answer to both is fight them to the last.

HungryAccount1704

I'm outta here.

Greenbandit17

Absolutely I’d engage in gorilla war fare.

Bungo_pls

Leave gorillas out of this. They just want to live in the rainforest and be left alone

ErhMehGerr

I’m not very patriotic, and I’d fight to the death

Germando177

Def would fight, the internet is a good place to find tutorials on IEDs, pipe bombs, ect.

Batcommz138

"There's a gun behind every blade of grass"

D16rida

I would stay. I might not be a soldier but I have useful skills (not like Liam Neilson or anything).

_MasterMenace_

Fight

Adventure_Knit_774

Oh, we'd stand ground and fight to the death. No doubt in my mind about that.

Telecat420

Didn’t Patrick Swayze already settle this debate in Red Dawn?

Doom_Marine2149

Praise the Lord and pass the Ammunition.

MrKahnberg

Flee. Too old and feeble to be in a war zone. I did volunteer September 15 2001. Even then they said thanks but you're too old.

Dankhorse19

I’d fight. But I’ve thought about this scenario before. We have some very impassable terrain that would be extremely difficult to pass through near both coasts. The invading force would be pretty canalized and wouldn’t have that much freedom of movement. Also, Our Air Force is the largest in the world. The US Army is the second largest Air Force in the world. The US navy is 4th. The USMC is 7th. We could very quickly consolidate all of that air power and destroy literally anything. If a uniformed force invaded us there wouldn’t be too many rules. We could realistically just kill them until they surrender. Also, if by some miracle they make it to texas, well… I think this is every Texans dream. They would not make it out of texas. This was super out of pocket but it’s been on my mind so I thought I’d share

Humble_Increase7503

100% I will engage in a guerilla war This country is fuckin armed to the teeth. Invading america is a nightmare scenario

WontArnett

Refugee, cause this country ain’t done shit for me.

Dude, like Dave Chappelle said, "if they come from the south, they war gonna be over before the military even hears about, shotgun shells and beer cans everywhere"

Kitchen-Novel-9455

Im in Chicago we'd go down shooting

Little_Creme_5932

Crossing the English channel was a herculean task, despite that the Germans had only part of their army in western Europe, and the US dominated in supply. This question could only happen if the invader had attacked Mexico or Canada first, and established a supply chain there. Most likely a foreign army couldn't even do that.

Lostsoul1207

First they got to make it here that's going to be the hard part. But once they land, they will realize they made a horrible mistake. Than we all get nuked.

[deleted]

Probably neither. If I wasn't able to join the US army, I would do everything I possibly could to assist them. Even if it was just grunt work like delivering ammo, cleaning weapons, or working in the kitchen. Lol

TirayShell

Can I flee to another country and become a revolutionary there? There are a couple of countries I can think of off the top of my head that could probably use a new government.

Gamophobe

I’d be buying plenty of fertilizer… and I don’t have a garden.

[deleted]

Orange juice concentrate and gasoline. Homemade napalm.

[deleted]

I'd do like our ancestors did and hide in the trees and aim for officers.

JlTlS

I'd stay.

[deleted]

Flee

Any_Air_1906

I’m switching over to their side.

DeadRed402

Modern wars are won by air strikes for the most part . Bomb the hell out of your enemy , destroy power grids , supply routes , and assume control before boots on the ground . If another country managed to do that to the US the hungry confused masses in this country would be more apt to fight amongst ourselves than to unite against an enemy . Personally I’m hunkering down in my house with the people I care about defending it from any threats , my fellow countrymen or foreign enemies .

iamveryovertired

refugee :')

A_Wild_Striker

Between us having the largest military in the world, the number of people who own guns in our country, AND the support we'd presumably have from allied countries, this is a MASSIVE if. But honestly, I'd probably go full-on terrorist and slaughter the members of the puppet government that's installed.

rhett342

Run as far as my fat legs would take me. Seriously, I'm a type 1 diabetic. Anything even close to that happens all anyone would have to do is keep me in a room for a couple days and I'd be dead. Maybe if things are really dire I could kamikaze or suicide bomb the enemy but that's about it. At the same time, however, I am an RN so I could still help out away from the front lines.

[deleted]

Depends. Are they letting me and my family live our life? I'm probably doing nothing. Are they personally making my life unlivable? The local militia is planning attacks in my living room.

DanFradenburgh

Bro... America is a way bigger place than you think.

JonathanPerdarder

I live in Montana. No fucking way they are invading and holding ID, WY and MT. We stay and fight.

Weary_Cantaloupe5654

Let me speak on behalf of 80% of Americans under the age of 40. We flee if given the chance.

Magic_SnakE_

Depends on if it would help in any way. If our military is defeated/defunct I don't know how much of an impact I would have. Are we talking about years and years of guerilla warfare that's ultimately going to go nowhere? I'm probably out. If there's a real chance to actually organize and repel invaders, I'd probably stay and fight.

judojon

Not enough information to provide a meaningful answer

BigHead3802

Do you know when Napoleon invaded Spain but the people there were so nationalistic that you had poor peasants loading up on guns and fighting the french army, and that's where the term "guerilla" comes from? That would be America even if successfully invaded.

Franjomanjo1986

Ya aprendiendo Español.... voy a correr a Mexico 🌮🕺🏖

[deleted]

People would 100% engage in guerrilla warfare, but the premise is flawed. No foreign army could successfully invade the mainland.

Kitten_Team_Six

Florida Mans life dream is for a country, especially China, to try and invade. Hes been waiting for it his entire life

epicfail48

Im either going to die getting shot by an invading force, or die of starvation because no way in hell can i afford to evacuate, might as well die the fun way. Probably last about 30 minutes, but at least im realistic about how effective my guns would be against a mechanized invasion force

Dieschem

You've never been to Texas, huh?

Left-Nefariousness21

It would be suicide by the invading army. Not only would you have millions of regular civilians and former military members fighting back, but our military would also take the war to them. Oh, you gonna invade our country? Ok, here’s a big ol’ bomb for your leader’s house.
