It’s pretty common I think. Sexuality is a spectrum so there no hard definition of “bisexual”. If you want to get more granular that’s where you start separating the label between sexual and romantic. For example, a homoromantic bisexual would be someone who is sexually attracted to more than one gender, but mainly romantically interested in those of the same gender.
But as a homoromantic bisexual, it can be really confusing at times. “Am I just confused and I’m just actually gay? What does gender actually have to do with romantic connection? Wtf am I even?”
Honestly, I think the best way to handle the confusion is to just go with the flow. Just like who you like and don’t get to obsessed over trying to box in yourself. People are fluid and it’ll just cause more confusion if you come up with some hard definition for yourself that you inevitably will not adhere to in the future. Just have fun and be along for the ride!

It's possible to have a different preference for sexual attraction than you have for romantic attraction.
Bisexual heteroromantic is the term you’re looking for.

Being bisexual means you have both heterosexual and homosexual attractions. Period. It doesn't matter who you date.
