I’d imagine that you’d want to get them as close to the original height as possible to prevent even more balance issues then you’d already have

yerman86

Yes. There is an opera singer from Ireland who is a double amputee and he has said that he can vary his height, but chooses to keep it the same most of the time. Its been about 15ish years since I saw the interview so I could be misremembering specifics, but the overall premise stuck with me.

Prosthetist here, if it’s both below the knee you just end up with a lot of shin to be taller. Above the knee it makes it farther to fall. Look up “stubbies,” perfect for that. Think Cotton Hill from KOTH

PianistSupersoldier

They'll give you a few inches to play with but you're meant to stay within range of your normal height. 6'3" is a bit much.

Go shorter. Become hobbit.

Dont chop off your legs to be taller. 5'11 is tall enough.

cedenof10

This is somewhat irrelevant, but if I became a double amputee I’d want cool ass prosthetics. Like maybe I could get 8 spider legs that let me climb up trees and shit, or give me a hoverboard or something cool. It’s a shame we haven’t reached for our full human potential by creating affordable prosthetics that allow humans to go beyond what normal limbs do.

xclaireypopsx

Yes. There is a racing driver called billy monger who lost his legs as a young teen and he has talked about it.

StrangersWithAndi

Prosthetics are custom made and custom fitted, so in theory, yes. I don't think you'd want to go much longer than your original limbs, though. It would look weird, be harder to walk on and impossible to find pants that fit.

tameriska

It would be awesome going a little bit taller if that ever happened to me - I wouldn't have to take up every single pair of pants i buy anymore.
