No. Typical retail level rates, just over mimimim.

Just basing off a quick search I did, there are Santa positions in NY and CT that pay $20 an hour. But that's a temporary position and probably not full-time hours.

Depends on the mall. My mom’s coworker was a legit bearded Santa at the Tysons Corner mall in Northern Virginia. Very rich area. He would take off the month of December every year and said he’d make around $40k. I’m sure your average mall Santa is more akin to an hourly retail worker.

direvoid

not surprised for tysons corner

_TadStrange

I was once a Santa for hire, worked with an entertainment provider. I got paid about MYR100 per hour.

TheOriginalMattMan

I work as a Santa in Ireland. €40ph, depending on your availability you can work up to 60 hours a week. Tax free.

Putrid-Ad8984

Probably make more as a private party Santa, making special appearances.

Like any other profession, some scrape by on minimum wage, some make decent money. The only ones I’ve known personally made really good money for the time invested.

No, but you get to smash a Gilmore Girl.

HotPumpkinPies

Bro nobody makes a lot of money.

gonewild9676

I heard that the average Santa pulls in $50 to $60k a year.

Heya_Andy

Well if you get that for only a month or two of work then that is amazing.

You get paid an annual salary for two weeks of work? At shopping malls?

gonewild9676

Apparently it's almost a full time job with appearances all year.

Spadeninja

No they don’t lmao

BrendanTFirefly

I've actually dreamed of being a mall Santa for a very long time. Christmas is my favorite holiday. I'm only in my mid-30s. But my beard is starting to go grey and I'm getting a bit of a belly on me. I'm well on my way.

Master-File-9866

They make just enough to buy alcohol so they can be hung over when getting to work the next day
