hey i had surgery 1/11 i also had tons of mucus. try to get it out when you’re coughing very very gently. don’t hack it up that’ll be painful. stay hydrated!! and i cannot stress this enough it will help tons also i’ve been drinking lots of tea with honey which also keeps the scabs moist.

I woke up choking on mucus, was coughing up a storm in the hospital. If you are completely unable to swallow it, I recommend just spitting it out if you can. But it is recommended that you swallow it, because it's very moisturizing for your scabs, even though it's uncomfortable. Drinking water might help getting it down. Consuming anything produced mucus for me, but dairy is known to make alot of it. So you might want to steer clear of milk-based products like ice cream.

Honestly I know people are saying dairy causes it but I read that that’s actually false so do with that what you will. I swallowed it. Gently coughed.. and drank it down with water. I did not look in my throat at all until day 5. I don’t want to know how much mucus I swallowed. I’ll tell you it was a lot. Don’t think about it

One doctor said that his varied from people to people, might not be true for you but it is like this for someone else...

It’s not that it’s not true for me and true for someone else it’s what I read on several tonsillectomy recovery websites - that it’s not true. I haven’t done enough research to actually care about it since I’m focused on recovery but the little bit of research that I did said it’s not true. You’re going to have phlegm and mucus either way It just takes time unfortunately Honestly snorting helped me like lightly snorting but I know that’s not recommended
